Chapter 602 Causing Trouble
The person who showed up was none other than Alfonso's mistress.
When Alfonso was alive, they never had to worry about money. But now that he's gone, things have taken a nosedive, especially since she's pregnant!
And standing in front of her were Alfonso's son and daughter.
Their intentions were crystal clear.
"My beloved man is dead. You might not have killed him directly, but he died because of you. Now our family's struggling to survive!" The woman sobbed, covering her face.
She also noticed Pearl's slightly swollen belly and shouted, "You're pregnant too, you should understand how tough it is!"
"We're really at the end of our rope, that's why we came to you. We have no other options." Her voice was loud, and her kids joined in, crying.
Oscar stepped in front of Pearl and said, "You go upstairs, I'll handle this."
Pearl held onto Oscar's hand and said firmly, "I'm staying with you."
She wanted to be there to support him.
Oscar glared at them, his lips moving slowly. "Alfonso went out on his own..."
"My kids are the real Brown Family blood. You're just adopted. The Brown Family gave you so much, it wouldn't hurt to share some with your siblings, right?" The woman cut him off before he could finish. Her eyes were sharp and determined.
Pearl chuckled, "Then show us the paternity test. If you have the test and meet all the conditions, we'll give you a portion."
"A portion? My kids are the true Brown Family descendants. If you give us a portion and keep the rest, isn't that just you taking our stuff?" The woman was clearly unwilling.
Her greed was showing; she wanted everything for herself.
But it wasn't going to be that easy.
When the Brown Group was in trouble, Alfonso was out partying. And Hathaway wasn't good to Oscar either.
Now that Oscar had single-handedly managed the Brown Group, did they think they could just waltz in and take the property?
Pearl spoke up for Oscar, "When Oscar took over the Brown Group, Alfonso didn't care about the shares, and it was Grandpa who appointed him!"
The woman wasn't having it and shot back, "He's dead, and you're still talking about the past? So, what, we should all just stop moving forward based on your reasoning?"
She plopped down on the sofa, clearly planning to stay.
Pearl stayed calm. "Show us the test results. Since you claim they're Brown Family descendants, let the facts speak."
"But you're only giving us a portion!"
Pearl said, "If you want more, then follow the inheritance law. Go through the legal process."
The best lawyer in Willow Creek was Nathaniel, Oscar's friend. They had no money or power, so going to court would be a losing battle.
The woman tried to guilt Pearl and Oscar.
"You don't want to give us anything, and now you're talking about going to court? If we really go to court, as an adoptee, you have no right to inherit anything from the Brown Family!" she kept arguing.
It was clear she couldn't produce the test results and wanted to rely on pestering to get more. Otherwise, why not follow the legal process?
Pearl had enough. She raised her voice. "Someone, please escort them out!"
"You!" The woman stood up angrily. "Pearl, Oscar, don't push us too far!"
"Yeah, my mom is pregnant. If you upset her and something happens, can you afford to pay for it?"
"I'm telling you, if we don't get money today and our lives aren't secure, we won't leave!"
The woman's kids stood with her, and she continued to cry out in pain.
Pearl wasn't buying it. She turned to the servants and said, "Ignore her. Call 911."
"Yes," the servant responded and did as told.
Pearl added calmly, "If you refuse to leave, I can charge you with illegal entry and extortion. If you want all the property, the amount is large enough to be... Oscar, is it a minimum of three years in prison?" Pearl turned to Oscar, pretending to be unsure.
Oscar genuinely didn't know. "I'm not sure, I'd have to ask Nathaniel."
Upon hearing this, the woman didn't dare stay any longer. "I won't let you off easily!"
She couldn't sue Pearl now, but if Pearl wanted this outcome, fine, so be it!
The woman quickly left Serenity Haven Estates with her kids.
Oscar put his arm around Pearl's shoulder, saying, "I told you to go upstairs, but you didn't listen. Are you going to stand by me no matter what happens in the future?"
"Yes."
This answer was unquestionable.
Pearl pushed Oscar lightly and said firmly, "You're always trying to push me aside. Oscar, life doesn't work that way. No matter what happens, we face it together. You've got my back, and when you face something, I can't just stand by. I gotta have your back too."
Oscar felt very warm inside and chuckled, "Having you in this life is enough."
Pearl received a call from Janetta.
She had been staying in touch with Janetta, but she never expected Janetta to ask to borrow money!
"Pearl, I need some money in your account. Give me a card you don't use, and help me leave Willow Creek tonight!" Janetta requested.
Janetta wasn't short of money, but now she was asking to borrow money. Pearl quickly realized Janetta was in trouble.
Pearl's face turned serious. "How much do you need? $911,000?"
This number was Pearl's way of testing if Janetta needed to call the police.
Janetta, being Pearl's longtime friend, understood her meaning and chuckled, "No, I need $700,000."
