Chapter 72 Why Did You Go to That Hotel?

Oscar's words made him involuntarily stop and turn around to look at her. "Which woman?" he asked.

Harold, as the messenger, couldn't help but feel awkward. Despite being a married couple, their relationship had become so strange. Pearl was actually helping her own husband find a one-night stand.

Oscar hadn't publicly announced their marriage, but it didn't necessarily mean they had no feelings for each other. He couldn't understand.

Feeling trapped, he felt as if he were a sandwich, constantly on edge and restless every day.

"She is the woman you had a one-night stand with," Harold said, and he could feel Oscar's displeasure on his face.

Oscar was still upset about Pearl's rejection yesterday, and she had brought Seraphina to him today. She was so eager to bring another woman into his life, as if she would be satisfied once he fell in love with someone else.

The expression on Oscar's displeased face was extremely cold, but he still remained patient and said coldly, "I understand. Make her wait."

Pearl returned and before even putting her bag down, Harold came over and said, "Secretary Pearl, President Oscar wants you to wait in the lounge for a while."

"What's going on?" Pearl didn't understand his intention. "Assistant Harold, what are you talking about?"

Harold pulled her aside since she didn't understand and said, "Secretary Pearl, it was you who brought that woman back, right?"

Pearl seemed to understand again, and it seemed like the situation was indeed as she had thought.

Her gaze shifted to the location of the lounge, and she hurriedly rushed over.

She opened the door to be greeted by the sight of Seraphina sitting quietly there.

Seraphina looked different today compared to before.

Her long hair was softly draped down, and she was wearing a shirt and a skirt. Her innocent and delicate face aroused the desire to protect her.

Seraphina was shy, it was her first time being in such a tall place.

She lived in the countryside. Although the living conditions in the countryside were good as well, she longed for the big city even more. Looking up at the buildings from her window, she felt as if she were in the clouds. It was such an exhilarating feeling.

Seraphina looked around and saw Pearl at the entrance. She smiled and called out, "Ms. Harris."

Pearl frowned and asked, "Why are you here?"

Instead of answering immediately, Seraphina asked, "Ms. Harris, is this where you work?"

There were other people outside, so Pearl walked in and closed the door.

"Yes."

Seraphina's lips curled up, forming a slight dimple. "Ms. Harris, you're impressive. I have only seen such tall buildings on TV."

Pearl's face turned cold. "You still haven't answered my question."

Seraphina began to grip her hands tightly and lowered her head. "Ms. Harris, I came here myself this time. The person that President Oscar is looking for is me."

Her words made Pearl's expression even colder. "I've already said that I don't need you."

Seraphina said, "I told you, I came here on my own. It has nothing to do with Ms. Harris."

Pearl sighed and frowned. This time, she had brought trouble upon herself. "What do you want to say?"

"That day, I did indeed go to that hotel."

Seraphina said, "Ms. Harris, I know you were looking for the woman who slept with President Oscar. It was an urgent matter for you before, but now you don't have to worry because the woman you're looking for is actually me."

Pearl was completely shocked.

Why would she say such a thing? It was beyond her imagination for a moment.

At that time, Pearl had concerns and was cautious, so she did not explicitly ask Seraphina to do anything.

If Seraphina didn't believe her and started spreading rumors, it would court disaster. That's why she didn't say everything and only said she was looking for a woman.

It wasn't a secret for those who wanted to know about this matter, and it showed that she had made efforts to find this woman.

But she didn't expect Seraphina to admit it first.

Before she could say anything else, Harold walked in.

Pearl hesitated but didn't say anything.

Harold said, "Secretary Pearl, someone is looking for you outside. They need you to handle something."

Pearl looked at Seraphina. Seraphina was so confident that she was that woman almost convinced her of it herself.

But Harold was here, and she had work to attend to, so she didn't have time to respond.

She could only step back.

Three hours later, Pearl hadn't returned.

But at this moment, the door of the conference room was opened.

People dispersed, and Oscar walked out of the conference room.

Harold stood on the side and said, "President Oscar, she's in the rest area."

Oscar tightened his brows, with a cold expression on his face. He glanced at his watch and couldn't help but sneer. She had actually been able to hold on for so long.

He turned around and walked toward the lounge.

At this moment, only Seraphina was in the lounge.

Her body had stiffened from sitting for too long. Seeing that there was no one around, she leaned against the sofa and lay down for a while.

Oscar opened the door and entered, only to see a girl lying on the sofa.

He looked around and didn't see Pearl. He walked in with a stride.

With one hand in his pocket, he walked up to the girl and stopped in front of her. He looked at her with a cold expression, silently examining her.

Seraphina was very tired, but she kept her eyes closed and didn't dare to fall asleep, afraid that it would delay things.

When she felt rested enough and groggily opened her eyes, she saw a tall figure standing in front of her. She was first taken aback, then quickly sat up. Before she could see him clearly, she spoke first, "I'm sorry..."

She hurriedly straightened her posture.

Oscar just stared at her little movements without saying a word.

However, her tone of speech was very much like Pearl's.

Regardless of whether Pearl did something wrong or not, as long as she felt she was wrong, she would apologize first.

Even if she wasn't the one who did something wrong.

Oscar didn't speak for a long time. Seraphina stared at his shoes intently, feeling nervous inside, but couldn't help being curious, so she raised her head slightly.

But before she could see him, she nervously lowered her head again.

She finally couldn't help asking, "Why aren't you speaking? Where is Ms. Harris?"

Oscar remained expressionless and asked coldly, "Are you the woman Pearl brought?"

His icy and deep voice captivated Seraphina.

She slowed down her breathing and raised her eyes slightly, meeting Oscar's profound gaze. It made her body stiffen and slightly jolted. His handsome features attracted her, leaving her stunned for a while.

Seeing him furrowing his brows slowly, she gently asked, "Are you that man?"

Oscar pursed his lips and remained silent, sitting on the adjacent sofa.

Seeing that Oscar was not interested in her, Seraphina wanted to give herself a chance to perform, so she said casually, "Before coming here, I already knew your identity, President Oscar. It's actually okay, we are adults, and we should take responsibility for our own actions. What happened between a man and a woman was consensual. You don't have to look for me, and I don't need you to take responsibility."

Oscar's gaze remained unchanged as he coldly said, "It seems you've prepared your argument in advance."

Seraphina's face turned slightly pale as she bit her lip. "I'm telling the truth, President Oscar. I know you're rich and influential, and many women like you and want to sleep with you. But I really don't have that intention, otherwise, I would have come to pester you long ago. President Oscar, you can forget about what happened that night, pretend that nothing happened, and my life can go back to normal."

Oscar turned his gaze to her. "Do you feel like I've been disturbing your life?"

Seraphina lowered her head slightly, "Before, I didn't think so, but now I feel like you are disturbing my life. When I didn't know your identity, I could treat you as an ordinary man. But now that I know your identity, you are no longer ordinary."

Oscar asked again, "Since you believe that only an ordinary man deserves you, why did you go to that hotel?"
