Chapter 14 Are You Trying to Ruin Me?
Janetta couldn't take it anymore and stepped in. "Ms. Garcia, mind your word. This is a public place, not somewhere for you to boast and insult others."
Haley glanced disdainfully at Janetta. "I'm just stating facts. Pearl, keep fooling yourself. One day, Oscar will come back to me."
Janetta stood by Pearl's side. "Haley, stop spewing nonsense! Pearl is Oscar's wife. Who do you think you are?"
Haley glared at Janetta. "And who are you? Oh, I remember, the painter who became famous through scandals, right?"
Janetta retorted angrily, "You're the one famous for scandals! Don't think I don't know about your tricks. You got famous by hooking up with male celebrities."
Haley's face darkened. "What lies are you spreading?"
Janetta continued, "Do you remember that big movie last year? I heard you snuck into the director's room late at night to 'rehearse' just to get the role. You're really dedicated."
Haley shook with rage. "You're lying! I never did that!"
Pearl watched Haley's frantic reaction, feeling a sudden pang of pity. But it was quickly replaced by anger.
She forced a smile. "I'm fine, thanks, Janetta."
However, deep down, she felt a strong sense of unease. Haley's words were like a thorn, deeply embedded in her heart.
She began to doubt if Oscar's recent changes were genuine. Did he still have feelings for Haley?
Haley regained her composure and turned to Pearl. "Don't get too cocky. Do you think marrying Oscar means you've won? Don't be naive. You're just a gold-digger. I'm the one Oscar truly loves!"
This statement ignited a fire within Pearl. Unable to bear it any longer, she raised her hand and slapped Haley.
