Donald was wearing a smug face, thinking he had Kevin's weak spot in hand, which made Kevin feel uneasy
"We don't need to be equals," Kevin said, refusing Donald's offer. He knew Donald was all talk. "You can stay the boss."
Donald, seeing Kevin so compliant, didn't argue, confident he had Kevin under control.
'Even if Kevin was loyal to RavenWing, he had to save his own life and Haley's too,' Donald thought. He believed Kevin's release from prison posed no threat.
Kevin left with a gloomy face. Donald watched him go, a malicious smile on his lips.
"Letting him go free like this, aren't you afraid he'll snitch?"someone asked.
Donald replied, "No, he won't dare. If we touch him, RavenWing would get suspicious."
Donald knew he couldn't harm Kevin. If Kevin died, RavenWing would get suspicious, and Donald's good days would be over.
Kevin returned to the abandoned factory where he was staying. The place was overgrown with weeds and rarely visited. It looked rundown, but the upper floors were a lab.
Hearing a noise, Kevin's expression sharpened. "Who's there?"
"Dad," Haley said, stepping through the weeds.
Kevin's face remained stern. "Didn't I tell you not to come here? Were you followed?"
Haley replied, "Don't worry, I switched cars several times before coming here."
Kevin checked the TV showing surveillance of the area. Seeing no one suspicious, he relaxed. He let Haley sit and went to boil water for tea.
"Kevin, how can you live here? Are you used to it?" Haley asked, swatting at mosquitoes. "Would you like a new place to lay low? I have money now; I can buy you a big house."
Kevin, making tea, said, "It's quiet and deserted here, perfect for me. The city center is too busy."
"But why aren't you with Oscar? Why come to me?" Kevin asked, placing a cup of tea in front of her.
Haley, smiling, said, "You were worried about me and Oscar, weren't you? I came to tell you Oscar is on my side. He's devoted to me, and the issues you worried about don't exist. I'll be happy."
Kevin asked, "What did he do?"
"He wants to ruin Pearl financially for me, and she's pregnant!" Haley said. "He's gentle with me now. I told you, Oscar and I have feelings for each other. He was just resentful because I left him for too long. He'll be moved by my love."
Kevin remained silent.
Haley continued, "When will you meet Oscar for a meal? Your relationship means a lot to me.!"
Kevin replied, "He's Hathaway's son. I'm just your adoptive father."
"Don't mention her!" Haley sneered. "If she hadn't raised Oscar, do you think I'd get along with her? Everything I did was to get close to Oscar!"
"I understand," Kevin said, emotionless. "Let's wait and see. If he stands by you, I'll meet him."
Haley smiled. "It's a deal then. Oscar will be thrilled."
"Be careful going back. The city isn't safe; there's been a murder," Kevin reminded her.
Haley asked, "Kevin, has The Crimson Eclipse Society made a move again? I hear Oscar and his guys mention it sometimes."
Kevin looked up. "Is Oscar looking into this?"
Haley nodded. "Yes."
Kevin suddenly had an idea and laughed. "Tell him you can help solve the case quickly."

"I'm so anxious!" Penelope paced back and forth, unable to sit still.
"Why are you so worked up? It hasn't even started yet. You weren't like this before."
"You don't get it. I put a lot into this. Of course, I want it to be good. I'm anxious because it hasn't started yet!"
"Sit down," Pearl said, pulling her down. "We'll know by eight tonight if it's good or bad. Even if it's bad, there's no redoing it."
Penelope said, "It has to be good. We've put everything into this, especially since you have a child to raise!"
The pressure was heavy, and Penelope was worried.
Pearl was also nervous, having bet everything on this. But once things started, there was no turning back. She had to think about how to make it better. She had no other choice.
Besides the investment money, she also had to cover promotional expenses and other costs. She had basically put everything on the line.
"Did you know 'Echoes of the Enchanted Realm' is also premiering at eight? They're trying to steal our viewership!" Emma said after reading the news.

They were all waiting. The closer it got to eight, the more nervous they became.
At eight, the show started. They all watched it on their computers, keeping an eye on the real-time viewership.
They were engrossed in the show, but Pearl also kept an eye on 'Echoes of the Enchanted Realm.' Several trending topics were already discussing it, indicating high viewership.
As for 'Glory,' it had a few trending topics but was in the middle. These were all bought marketing accounts.
After it ended, 'Echoes of the Enchanted Realm' continued to trend.
"Is their show really that good? They have continuous trending topics. They must have bought them!" Janetta complained. "The plot is nonsensical, and the main character is a love fool. Our show is much more thrilling and exciting!"
