Chapter 19 Do You Know If Pearl Got Married?
Oscar saw Haley off, watching the car she boarded disappear from sight. He turned back to Exhibition Hall C, his brows furrowed, searching for Pearl but couldn't find her anywhere. A sense of unease washed over him, prompting him to quickly take out his phone and called pearl. However, there was no answer on the other end, intensifying his anxiety.
He started shuttling back and forth between the Hall A and B, anxiously scanning the crowd for any sign of Pearl. The mounting unease in his heart made Oscar feel unusually nervous and worried.
Just then, a thought struck him. He pulled up a photo of Pearl on his phone and approached a security guard in the Hall A for information. The guard glanced at the photo and pointed to the café across the street, saying, "They went there."
Oscar's heart sank. 'They ?'
He quickly looked towards the café and through the window, he saw Pearl and Adrian sitting together, chatting and laughing, appearing quite intimate. This sight instantly darkened Oscar's expression, and he strode into the café, heading straight for Pearl and Adrian's table.
When Pearl saw Oscar suddenly appear, she was momentarily stunned. She glanced at Adrian beside her and smiled as she introduced, "He's my childhood classmate, Adrian. And this is my boss, Mr. Brown."
Upon hearing Pearl's introduction, Oscar's expression changed unpredictably, a hint of displeasure creeping in. He stared sharply at Adrian, trying to find any flaw in him.
Adrian, on the other hand, remained composed, smiling as he met Oscar's gaze.
"Is it true what you told me earlier, that you've been working for him since you graduated?" Adrian asked.
"Yes," replied Pearl.
Oscar's face turned cold, his voice low. "Seems like you've had quite a chat."
Pearl introduced, "Mr. Brown, this is Adrian, just returned from Mystoria, the CEO of EverBright Group."
Adrian extended his hand and said, "Mr. Brown, nice to meet you!"
Oscar narrowed his eyes. He didn't refuse the handshake, but subconsciously moved closer to Pearl, wrapping his arm around her and pulling her into a hug.
"Mr. Egan, do you know if Pearl is already married?" Oscar suddenly spoke, a hint of provocation in his tone. He wanted to see if Adrian liked Pearl, if he knew she was already married.
Pearl was shocked. The most private secret between her and Oscar, they agreed to keep it a secret.
Adrian was equally surprised, stunned for a moment before calmly asking, "How do you know, Mr. Brown?"
Pearl noticed Oscar's change in expression and quickly said, "He is just joking."
She gently held Oscar's hand, giving him a reassuring smile. However, Oscar did not calm down. He held Pearl's hand back, his gaze still fixed firmly on Adrian.
"Mr. Egan, as the boss of EverBright Group, you must have unique insights into finance." Oscar tried to change the subject, while also testing Adrian's capabilities.
"I've just been a bit lucky," Adrian modestly responded, but his eyes revealed a sense of confidence and composure.
Adrian and Oscar conversed back and forth in the café, while Pearl quietly listened, occasionally interjecting a word or two. She understood Oscar's worries and unease, but she needed to clearly express her stance—she and Adrian were just classmates.
