Chapter 380 Desperately Fleeing

She was shocked, then panicked.

Now she had nothing left. Her only hope was Oscar. If he gave up on her too, she was done for.

Getting famous had been tough for her.

"Oscar."

Haley burst into tears. Ignoring her pain, she crawled forward. "I know I was wrong. Please, don't do this."

Watching her crawl, Oscar saw her like a dog.

He looked down, maintaining a superior posture, a cold smile on his lips. His slender fingers gripped her chin. "Do you even know what you did wrong?"

Haley was stunned.

What did she do wrong? She didn't think she was wrong at all.

To live a glamorous life and get Oscar's help, she had to submit. "Whatever you say I did wrong, I did. I won't do it again. Please forgive me."

Her tears made her look pitiful. She hoped Oscar would forgive her.

Oscar let go of her in disgust, causing her head to tilt. He took a sanitized towel and wiped his hands. "Haley, you're willing to do anything to survive. But I see no remorse in you."

Haley got up and asked, "What do you want me to do?"

Oscar stared at her coldly. "Did you think about today when you poisoned Pearl?"

Haley's lips trembled. "Didn't I say? If you marry me, she'll get the antidote!"

Oscar's eyes grew colder, veins bulging on his forehead. He was furious, grabbing her throat. "Where is the antidote? Do you have it? Say it again, do you have the antidote?"

He had suspected from the start that Haley might not have the antidote, but keeping her engaged was his only chance to get it, which was harder than he imagined.

Even the antidote was experimental and not very effective.

Haley's throat tightened. Seeing Oscar like a madman, she was terrified, trembling but still struggling to answer. "I did everything because I love you too much."

Oscar tightened his grip.

He hated her talking about this.

Every sentence had to include her love for him, which was truly annoying.

Haley felt herself suffocating. She thought she was going to die in his hands.

She pounded on Oscar's hand, not wanting to die like this.

Just as she was about to pass out, Oscar let go, allowing her to breathe in large gulps of air.

Haley collapsed, her body weak. She could only lie there, coughing continuously.

"Letting you die like this is too easy." Oscar's tone was cold. "You should live a life worse than death!"

Hearing this, Haley struggled to lift her head. "What do you want to do?"

Oscar continued to smile, looking at her meaningfully. "You don't think you're free just because you got out of prison, do you?"

Haley's face turned pale. The current Oscar was terrifying. "Do you want to lock me up? Do you think prison is too easy for me? You want to torture me?"

As she spoke, her body retreated.

She suddenly understood. She thought she had gotten out because of Oscar's pity, not wanting her to suffer.

In reality, he was waiting for this day.

He thought prison was too easy for her.

He wanted to punish her!

"You're not stupid," Oscar said mockingly, like a grim reaper giving her a final ultimatum. "Your life should end now!"

"No!" Haley became agitated. "You can't lock me up. That's illegal. Oscar, doing this will harm you too!"

She feared Oscar would commit a crime.

He wouldn't even let her go to prison, so being locked up by him would be even worse.

She didn't want to be tortured.

She'd rather be in prison.

The more she thought about it, the more her heart raced.

She wanted to escape.

She immediately got up and tried to run out.

Oscar watched her without stopping her because he knew Haley couldn't escape.

A cruel, cold smile played on his lips, making him look even more terrifying.

Haley ran desperately, not even looking around. She didn't know what the house looked like, just picked a direction and ran.

She ran until she was completely exhausted, but the fear of being caught by Oscar kept her going.

She was drenched in sweat, but looking around, the dense trees were like a maze, making it impossible to recognize the direction.

She looked up at the tall, dense trees that even blocked out the sunlight.

Ahead was a bottomless abyss.

'Where was this?'

The farther Haley ran, the more panicked and disoriented she became.

She tripped and fell, her hands breaking as thorns pierced her palms. Blood immediately began to flow.

She was covered in dirt, her hair soaked with sweat, her face dirty, losing her star-like demeanor.

But what she should be most concerned about now was not her appearance, but how to get out of this forest.

She couldn't help but cry. The eerie cold made her shiver, and when she looked up again, she saw a giant venomous snake slithering towards her.

Haley's pupils contracted, her face turning even paler. She was terrified to the extreme.

She didn't dare run anymore.

Instead, she thought about how to go back.

Only by returning to the house could she avoid these dangers.

Pearl was waiting in the living room, falling asleep on the couch from exhaustion.

She didn't sleep well, waking up at the slightest noise.

She suddenly lifted her head, looking around. Besides her, there was no one else, which meant Oscar hadn't come back.

She checked the time; it was already 10 PM.

Usually, Oscar would be home by now, but today there was no word from him.

Pearl anxiously checked her phone.

Oscar hadn't sent her any messages, not even a call.

This made Pearl even more disappointed.

Oscar and Haley's past had already left her feeling incredibly insecure.

His lack of explanation and quick departure without a word made her anxiety even stronger.

Her anger was a plea for an explanation. If Oscar really understood her, he would give her one.

But there was no explanation at all.

She continued to linger in this sense of disparity.

But her pride wouldn't allow her to ask more questions, leading to internal conflict.

She couldn't go on like this.

Pearl told herself that she needed to get answers, as it was the best way for her to find peace.

So she asked the bodyguard at the door, Zachary Long.

"Has Oscar come back? When will he be back?"
