Chapter 439 Mr. Mitchell Only Asked Me to Do These

Carol's eyes had a fierce glint. She wasn't letting Pearl leave alive after bringing her here.

Less than half an hour after RavenWing left, Luca Ferrari knocked on her door.

"Come in," she said coldly. Luca entered with a bowl of chicken soup.

"Ms. Mitchell, RavenWing told me to bring this to you," Luca said respectfully.

"Just leave it. I'll change and eat it later," Carol replied, turning her back to him. She was sick of the chicken soup that kept coming every few days.

Luca placed the soup on the desk. "RavenWing said you need to drink it now."

Carol didn't respond but eventually picked up the bowl after changing. She held her breath and finished it.

"Do you really have to watch me drink it? I'm fine," she snapped.

"I'm just following orders," Luca replied coldly.

Carol waved her hand. "Alright, you can go now."

She'd been through worse, so a bowl of soup was nothing.

"Yes," Luca nodded and left.

Carol put on her veil and walked out. She wanted to check on Pearl but was stopped by Luca. "Ms. Mitchell, RavenWing said you need to rest and not wander around."

Carol was furious. This was basically house arrest. She turned back in frustration and secretly messaged Jorge: [Keep an eye on Pearl and send me a video of her.]

Jorge quickly replied: [Okay.]

Carol's anger eased a bit.

Meanwhile, with Chiara calming down,, Pearl asked, "Are you feeling better now?"

Chiara nodded, her throat bitter. "I lost control earlier. Sorry."

Living here was worse than death. Every time she tried to die, she faced harsher punishments. She couldn't die or live properly.

But Pearl was different. She wasn't beaten badly when she arrived and even dared to confront Giulia. Pearl was also applying medicine to her, a rare thing in the slave camp.

Chiara had been here a long time and always had to endure her injuries alone.

Pearl getting medicine meant she wasn't just anyone. Plus, Giulia wasn't targeting her anymore.

"Tell me more about this place. Seems like it's all women here," Pearl said. She hadn't seen any men since being locked up.

Chiara was about to speak when the door opened. Giulia stood there. "Come out," she ordered.

Pearl frowned but stood up. Chiara watched her leave, her expression darkening. She had just thought Pearl wasn't simple, and now Giulia was personally taking her away. Was she going to punish Pearl?

Chiara's face remained calm, but her gaze was cold. She clenched her fists. If she had to die, she'd take Giulia with her. Otherwise, all her suffering would be for nothing.

Pearl followed Giulia, staying alert. But Giulia just led her to a man—Giovanni, the one who had saved her from Giulia earlier.

"Mr. Moretti, I've brought her. I'll take my leave now," Giulia said quickly, turning to leave. The kick Giovanni had given her still hurt, and she didn't dare stay longer.

After Giulia left, it was just Pearl and Giovanni. He handed her a black card with a string. "Wear this, and no one will harm you. You can move freely around the castle."

Pearl took the card and asked sternly, "What does Louis mean by this?"

Louis knew she was captured and anticipated the danger, so he sent Giovanni to protect her and gave her something to symbolize her status. But he still kept her here. She didn't get Louis's intentions.

Giovanni looked surprised. "How do you know it's Mr. Mitchell?"

He had saved her without revealing his identity or talking to her. But Pearl knew Louis's name and that Giovanni worked for him. Had Louis confided in her? No, that seemed impossible. Louis wouldn't reveal himself to outsiders.

Pearl said calmly, "If you don't know, then I'll be on my way."

Not knowing and refusing to say were different things. But Giovanni wasn't her man, so she couldn't force him.

"Mr. Mitchell only instructed me to do this. I don't know anything else," Giovanni said softly, stating his position. He only followed Louis's orders and didn't ask for reasons.

Pearl stayed silent. She started to walk back but looked around. They were in a large hall. To the right was where she had been imprisoned.

A heavy thud echoed, drawing her attention. She saw a man being thrown out from the left side, covered in wounds and blood. Two more men walked out, one of them kicking the man on the ground forcefully.
