Chapter 1002 She Was Not a Young Girl
"You just see me as a stand-in for Emmeline, don't you? You want to marry me because I look like her. You want me around to remember her?"
James gently touched Jasmine's chin with his rough fingers.
"That's part of it," he admitted.
Jasmine felt torn. "What's the other part?"
"The other part is, I'm a man too, and I get tired. I want to come home after a long day to a woman who'll make me coffee and hand me a cigarette. And you're that woman."
James paused, staring at her face that looked so much like Emmeline's.
"I said if you didn't look like Emmeline, I wouldn't have noticed you. But you do, so I can't look away."
"I've watched you; you're kind and gentle. I want to spend my life with you, to have a home together."
James wasn't trying to sweet-talk her. He was just being honest about his feelings and future plans.
Tender and affectionate.
It made one yearn.
Jasmine's emotions surged.
James was watching her, but she was watching him too.
He said she was a good woman to spend a lifetime with, and she saw James as a man she could trust with her life.
Unlike Hugo's aristocratic aloofness, James had a wild, untamed masculinity.
Rugged yet gentle, full of sexual tension.
Jasmine wasn't a young girl anymore.
She was a woman who had experienced sex.
She had physical needs too.
In the dead of night, James often appeared in her dreams.
His muscular body was tantalizing.
His calloused hands gently caressed her, making her shiver.
"Jasmine, will you come with me?"
James' enticing voice echoed in her ears.
His hands, which could ignite desire, were now gently caressing her.
Stirring her desires bit by bit.
As if possessed, Jasmine wrapped her arms around James' neck and stood on tiptoe to kiss him.
James was slightly stunned, looking at Jasmine's misty eyes, his gaze growing more intense.
No more words were needed.
James kissed her deeply, moving towards the bed.
With a thud, the mattress bounced slightly, then was heavily pressed down by James.
Heavy breathing filled the room. The TV on the wall reflected their entwined bodies.
James, experiencing sex for the first time, restrained his urge to keep going, pausing to kiss Jasmine beneath him.
Jasmine's face was flushed with satisfaction, her temples damp with sweat.
"Did you like my performance?" James asked while kissing her.
Jasmine kept her eyes closed, still a bit dazed. She didn't know how she ended up making love with James.
Maybe it was because she had been lonely for too long?
She couldn't resist his slightest tease.
Or perhaps, it was because James was always around her.
She had long been craving his body.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Are you not satisfied?"
James frowned, pressing down again.
His manhood pressed against her soft skin.
Jasmine's face heated up. "No."
How could she not be satisfied?
Although James lacked technique during sex.
He still made her climax multiple times.
James was much better than Hugo!
"So, you're satisfied?"
James smirked, lifting her chin with his fingers, making her look at him.
"Compared to Hugo, who's better?"
His wicked smile made her heart flutter.
Jasmine's face grew even hotter, but she tried to stay calm.
"You're younger than him. If you can't even beat him in this, what's the point?"
James laughed, kissing her forehead.
"I'll take that as a compliment."
Jasmine closed her eyes, feeling the heat of his skin. She thought he would go again.
James' voice sounded in her ear. "Have you decided? Will you leave with me?"
Jasmine's smile froze. She opened her eyes to meet his gaze.
It felt like they were pulled back to reality in an instant.
After a moment of silence, she pushed James away and sat up.
"Sorry, I can't go with you."
James frowned. 'Did my seduction fail? Why doesn't Jasmine want to go with me? Is she dissatisfied with my performance in bed? But she didn't seem dissatisfied just now.'
James turned her towards him. "Why? Are you still clinging to the wealth and luxury Hugo provides? Do you want to stay in this unclear situation forever?"
"No," Jasmine denied.
"Then why? Don't you trust me?"
James said, "Yes, I admit, I don't have as much money or power as Hugo, but at least I'm devoted to you alone. I swear, I'll be faithful to you for a lifetime."
His brown eyes were serious and sincere.
Jasmine believed him.
Just by looking at his feelings for the deceased Emmeline, you could tell he was deeply affectionate.
Once he committed to someone, he would be loyal forever.
Jasmine was happy and wanted to go with him.
"Sorry, I really can't go with you."
James' frown deepened.
"Why not?"
"Because Hugo won't let me."
Jasmine didn't hide anymore. "He warned me that if I dared to betray him, he would harm my family."
So that was the reason!
James' expression turned cold.
"That Hugo is a despicable scoundrel!"
Jasmine lowered her eyes. "So I'm sorry, I won't agree to go with you. I'll pretend nothing happened today. If you want to leave, leave alone."
With that, she suppressed the bitterness in her heart, lifted the blanket, and tried to get out of bed to wash up.
Her hand was suddenly grabbed, and she was pulled into James' arms.
"If I solve this problem, will you come with me?"
Jasmine was stunned. She looked up at him, a bit nervous.
"Solve? How will you solve it? You don't plan to kill him, do you?"
Hearing this, James laughed.
"Are you worried I'll become a murderer and won't be able to make you feel good like just now?"
James could even joke like this!
Jasmine's face heated up. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
She tried to break free, but he held her tightly.
"No jokes, let's be serious." James hugged her tightly.
Jasmine stopped struggling, waiting for his next words.
"What I mean by solving it is to take care of the things you're worried about. I won't let Hugo use your family to control you."
Jasmine's heart leaped with joy, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
"Really?"
"Yes, trust me," James promised seriously.
Jasmine was silent for a moment, then took a deep breath.
"Okay. If you can ensure Hugo won't harm my family, I'll go with you."
