Chapter 472 Everyone Has Aged
Arthur paused and then frowned. Instead of helping her like he usually did, he shouted, "Chloe, stop pretending. I don't have time to joke with you right now. Get up!"
Then, he went straight upstairs, returning to pack his belongings.
Olivia's mental health was deteriorating. He left Olivia at Elsa's house, planning to take care of his daughter there for a while. He intended to find a doctor to treat her. Afterward, he would think about other things. Olivia was his only daughter, and he didn't want to send her to a mental hospital.
When he finished packing and came downstairs, he found Chloe still lying motionless on the ground, with a large bump on her forehead.
Arthur doubted and walked over, kicking her. "Chloe, get up," he demanded.
His expression grew serious as Chloe didn't respond. He crouched down and carefully examined her.
Arthur thought to himself, 'She's still breathing. She must have just fainted because of a light bump. She's such a troublemaker and fragile. I have to take advantage of her, or else I won't care about her anymore.'
Arthur forced himself to lift her up and then went upstairs to her bedroom, placing her on the bed.
"Chloe, wake up quickly. If you don't wake up soon, I'll leave," Arthur warned. He slapped her face and shook her body, trying to wake her up.
Finally, Chloe slowly opened her eyes.
Arthur glanced at her and stood up. "Stay at home obediently. I have things to take care of. I'm going out. Stay at home, got it?" he instructed.
Then, he disregarded her and turned to leave.
Chloe stared at his back until the door closed, then slowly sat up.
Her once innocent eyes now held something else. She reached up and touched her forehead, furrowing her brow. Getting off the bed, she opened the door and walked slowly.
As she walked, she surveyed her surroundings. Arriving at the bathroom, she looked at herself in the mirror in front of the sink; astonishment flashed in her eyes.
She slowly raised her hand to touch her face, uncertainty in her gaze.
She wondered, 'Who is this old lady? Is it me? Have I really become this old?'
After treating Ryan, Nora had originally planned to go straight home.
But after leaving the villa, she remembered Mrs. Woodhouse saying that something had happened to Olivia. She decided to go where Chloe lived.
Nora thought, 'Arthur seems to care a lot about Olivia. If something is wrong with Olivia, Arthur must be in a bad mood. Does he take it out on Chloe, who has become silly now? Even if she's being abused, she doesn't dare to speak up.'
Nora thought for a while. As she arrived at Chloe's house, she knocked on the door, asking, "Is anyone there?"
After knocking for a while, someone else came to answer the door. Just as she was about to leave, the door opened, and Chloe appeared.
Nora's eyes lit up. "Chloe, did I disturb your nap?" she asked.
Chloe stared at her but said nothing. Nora's gaze fell upon her swollen forehead, and her expression changed.
"Chloe, what happened to your forehead? Let me take a look," Nora said, worriedly.
Chloe had already applied some ointment to her wound. She let Nora pull her into the house but remained silent.
Nora helped her sit down on a chair and carefully examined the wound.
Fortunately, it was just a surface injury; Nora sighed in relief.
Chloe had been silent since Nora arrived, with worry flashing in Nora's eyes.
"Chloe, tell me if there's anything else bothering you," Nora said, but Chloe continued to stare at her.
After a long while, she finally answered, "I'm fine, Nora. Just help me treat it."
Hearing this, Nora was first stunned but then filled with joy. "Chloe, are you sure?" she asked.
"Yes, I want to recover quickly," Chloe nodded faintly.
"All right, I'll start the treatment right away," Nora announced, and was very happy. She looked around and asked, "But are you alone at home?"
Nora was afraid that Arthur might ruin her plans.
"Yes, Arthur's gone," Chloe mentioned Arthur with unhappiness.
Nora thought, 'Arthur isn't home. That's great!' And she helped Chloe up the stairs, doubting,
"How did you hurt your forehead?" Nora inquired.
"I accidentally bumped into something," Chloe whispered.
Nora glanced at her, puzzled. "Chloe, did you remember something?" she asked.
Chloe seemed to have changed at this moment, without spacing out, just like a normal person.
Nora thought, 'Did she regain her memory?'
"Yes, I remembered some things from before, but I haven't fully recovered my memory yet," Chloe said.
Her mind was in chaos now.
Many timelines overlapped, making it difficult to see clearly, like a broken kaleidoscope.
Nora was excited. "It's okay. After I help you with the treatment for a while, you will definitely recover," she assured.
Chloe, who had bumped her head, combined with the medication she had been taking during this time, suddenly regained a bit of her memory.
This was a good thing!
Nora helped her into the room and instructed her to lie down.
"Thank you," Chloe said.
"You are welcome," Nora replied, smiled, and began preparing for the treatment.
Chloe looked at her serious face, and some images flashed through her mind.
"Nora, you're Emma's daughter, right?" Chloe asked.
Nora paused her actions and replied with a smile, "Chloe, let's wait until you fully recover your memory before we talk about some things, okay?"
She wasn't Emma's real daughter. She wanted Emma to personally tell her about who she was.
Chloe remained silent, staring at Nora's profile. Suddenly, her head started to ache.
A faint picture appeared in her mind.
In a shabby little clinic, a nurse held a newborn baby and walked toward a man.
She said, "This is her child."
The man took the baby from the swaddle.
The woman said, "Don't forget my husband's job."
The man said, "Don't worry. I will reward you."
...
The image was too blurry. Chloe wanted to see the faces of the man and the woman clearly, but it felt like someone was constantly hitting her head with a hammer, and she frowned and let out a groan of discomfort.
"What's wrong? Are you having a headache?" Nora quickly asked when she saw Chloe's furrowed brow.
Chloe said, "Yes."
Nora held her hand and said, "Chloe, listen to me. You just hit your head, so don't overthink things now. Close your eyes and rest for a while. I'll help you with the treatment."
Her voice had the calm and gentle demeanor of a doctor, gradually soothing Chloe.
Chloe agreed. Following Nora's instructions, she closed her eyes.
