Chapter 182 I'll Do My Best to Accommodate Your Needs
"Allow me to examine it," Nora said, her expression shifting to one of seriousness as she crouched to inspect the issue more closely. "It seems like muscle stiffness, likely due to overexertion. Have you been on your feet a lot today?"
"Not particularly," came the reply. "I merely hurried here when I heard you were in trouble."
A look of gratitude flashed across Nora's face as she began to knead the tense muscles. She couldn't help but admire Aaron's dedication. She could almost picture him sprinting to her aid without a moment's hesitation, just as he had done at the Bescosarst racetrack, risking everything for her. The thought stirred a deep emotion within her.
"Here, your acupuncture needle," Aaron offered, producing a slender silver needle from his pocket and extending it to her.
Her eyes sparkled with appreciation as she accepted it, murmuring, "Thank you."
A slight smile played on Aaron's thin lips. "Nora, given our current relationship, there's no need for such formalities."
In that moment, as he studied her delicate features, he felt a compelling urge to draw her into his arms and kiss her once more. Nora set the needle aside, her cheeks flushing under his intense gaze. Their current relationship status was something she was still grappling with.
After a thorough fifteen-minute massage, Nora finally ceased her ministrations. "You should freshen up. I'll administer the acupuncture afterward."
She rose, but perhaps due to fatigue, her vision blurred, and she swayed slightly. Aaron's brow furrowed in concern, and he swiftly pulled her onto his lap. "Are you sure you have the energy for acupuncture?"
His familiar scent enveloped her, stirring a flurry of thoughts and quickening her heartbeat. "Let go for now," she managed to say.
Aaron's eyes sparkled with amusement at the blush creeping up her ears. "My legs are fine. You've had a long day. We can postpone the acupuncture until you've regained your strength tomorrow."
His words were casual, but they only served to deepen the color in Nora's cheeks. She rose to her feet, "I'll go freshen up then."
"I've already taken care of that for you. Do you think I might have missed something?" Aaron teased.
Nora's heart skipped a beat as she involuntarily pictured him undressing her and gently wiping her down with a damp cloth. She quickly suppressed the fluttering sensation, her gaze flickering. "Then perhaps I'll tidy up the table."
"There's no need. Leave it be. Someone will take care of it tomorrow," Aaron reassured her.
'So there's nothing I need to do?' Nora thought, avoiding his amused gaze. "Then I'll retire for the night."
Aaron raised an eyebrow, "Leaving me all by myself?"
Nora hesitated, "Aren't you working anymore?"
"I'm tired as well. I'd like to turn in early today," he said, his words laced with a hidden meaning that set her heart racing again.
'Could it be he expects us to share a bed again later?'
"Come, help me up," he said, a playful twinkle in his eyes.
Nora feigned nonchalance as she walked over, helped him to his feet, and guided him to the king-size bed in the adjacent room. Aaron, noting her discomfort, raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you coming to bed?"
Nora cleared her throat, "Mr. Gordon, just to clarify, when I mentioned 'bed partner,' I meant it sporadically, not daily."
She instantly regretted her previous statement.
Aaron chuckled, "Come on up, I'm still under the weather and don't have much energy. Of course, if you're in need, I'll do my best to satisfy you."
Nora was at a loss for words.
'She didn't need anything!'
With a glare, Nora climbed into bed and lay down.
A slight smirk played on Aaron's lips. After reclining, he extinguished the light and drew her into his embrace. The room, shrouded in silence and dimness, was heavy with stillness.
Nestled within the man's robust arms, Nora's body was rigid, her senses filled with his familiar scent. This was her inaugural experience of sharing a bed with a man while fully conscious, and it filled her with unease.
Aaron, however, was genuinely fatigued. Basking in the faint aroma of the woman cradled in his arms, he closed his eyes in contentment. The rhythm of steady breathing echoed throughout the room, and Nora's taut nerves began to slacken slightly.
Opening her eyes, she studied the man before her. The dim light threw gentle shadows across his handsome features as he slumbered peacefully. After a moment, her lips curled into a faint smile before her eyes fluttered closed once more. She had anticipated that sharing a bed would keep her awake, but to her surprise, she fell into a deep sleep swiftly and remained undisturbed until morning.
Awakening to the sensation of a moist kiss on her forehead, Nora realized Aaron was conscious. Her body tensed once more, her eyelashes fluttering as she feigned slumber. In her nervousness, her hand inadvertently tightened its grip on his robe.
Aaron registered her subtle movement, his brows arching playfully, his lips curving with intrigue. Rather than exposing her pretense, he intensified his kisses, trailing them down from her temple. Unable to maintain her act, Nora quickly pushed him away.
"Are you awake? What time is it? Where's my phone?" She fired off a barrage of questions in an attempt to regain her composure.
Aaron chuckled lowly, reaching over to switch on the wall lamp. The warm yellow light flared to life, illuminating the room. Catching a glimpse of his well-defined torso, Nora quickly averted her gaze.
Aaron's eyes twinkled with amusement as he watched her. "How did you sleep last night? Any discomfort? If you're not feeling well, take another day off."
"No need, I'm fine," Nora replied, attempting to suppress her racing heartbeat and maintain her composure as she rose from the bed. But Aaron drew her back into his embrace.
"Are you sure you're all right?" His dark eyes glinted with intensity as he pressed his bare chest against hers, a searing warmth radiating from him.
Nora instantly felt his reaction and her cheeks flushed with heat. She pushed him away forcefully and swiftly clambered out of bed. "Don't get ahead of yourself. Your leg isn't healed yet!"
Aaron's gaze was piercing as he watched her slender silhouette. He teased, "So if it were healed, I'd be free to do as I please?"
Nora stumbled, nearly losing her balance. She shot him a glare and hurried to the bathroom. Even in her haste, she was a sight to behold. Aaron let out a soft chuckle, eagerly wishing for his leg to recover quickly.
Meanwhile, at Nora's house, Jenny was rousing the three children from their sleep. "Time to wake up, kiddos."
Nora hadn't returned home all night. Had she been on a date with Aaron? That seemed to be moving a bit too fast.
"Jenny, where's Mom?" Samantha, rubbing her sleepy eyes, was surprised to see Jenny waking her instead of her mom. Her voice was sweet and youthful.
"Didn't your mom go on a date?" Jenny gathered the school uniforms for the three kids and then went to help Samantha change out of her pajamas. Samantha stretched her little arms out, allowing Jenny to dress her with ease.
"Jenny, Mom's still not back?"
Jenny nodded as she buttoned up Samantha's uniform, "Yeah, she hasn't been home all night. Looks like your wish is about to come true."
Samantha's eyes lit up, "Jenny, does that mean I'm going to have a dad?"
