Chapter 324 How to Punish Her
"Yes," Frederic obliged.
With a nonchalant expression that concealed his emotions, Frederic retrieved the firecrackers and tossed them in Luna Moore's direction.
Luna let out a piercing scream, desperately trying to hide behind her brother, Master Moore.
But Frederic's aim was too precise; no matter where she hid, he accurately lobbed the firecrackers in front of her. The sparks that scattered instantly set her clothes ablaze.
Luna turned pale with shock, screaming incessantly.
The onlookers stood frozen in silence, too afraid to intervene to help.
Master Moore acted quickly, grabbing several cups of Iced water to douse the flames on Luna. By the time the flames were put out, her dress had been burnt to the point that her undergarments were nearly exposed.
Master Moore, furious yet unable to voice his frustrations, quickly removed his suit jacket to wrap it around Luna, apologizing repeatedly to Aaron and Kenneth before taking the pale and frightened Luna away from the manor.
With the Moore family gone, as hosts, the Remington family, calmed the situation and dispersed the crowd of spectators.
Aaron turned towards Nora and asked, "Are you okay?"
Nora shook her head as she answered, "I'm fine, thanks to Sandy pulling me away in time."
Aaron nodded at Sandy in acknowledgment.
Nora gave a grateful smile, "Thank you, Sandy."
"It's nothing," Sandy replied nonchalantly.
"Sandy, go upstairs to the restroom and change your clothes; treat that injury, too," Evella suggested, bringing over a new dress and some ointment for burns.
Nora removed the silver needle from Sandy's arm and said to Kenneth, "Brother, I'll take Sandy to change."
It was the first time Nora had called Kenneth 'brother', softening his usually stern demeanor a bit. "Go ahead," he said.
"Okay," Nora complied as she glanced at Aaron and then led Sandy up to the manor's second floor.
Kenneth averted his gaze to observe Zephyr looking after Sandy's retreating figure. His thin lips tightened, a slight chill spreading across his face.
The incident had passed, and the party continued.
Sandy glanced at Suzy, who was spectating the commotion and said to Nora, "Nora, I just went to the restroom and saw Suzy and Luna Moore come out one after the other. Suzy's up to no good, and it's very likely she said something to Luna Moore that made her act impulsively."
Hearing this, Nora's red lips pursed slightly. It was true, Suzy did have a penchant for stirring up trouble.
After a few instances of letting her antics go unpunished, it was time to hold her accountable for her actions.
How should she be taught a lesson?
Meanwhile, in the banquet hall, Suzy had a disappointed expression on her face after she watched the scene unfold between Luna Moore, Nora, and the rest.
‘Luna Moore was such a disgrace, not only failing to take down Nora but also getting schooled by Aaron. How boring!’ she thought to herself.
"Suzy, you look quite disappointed?" Jackson whispered into Suzy's ear.
Suzy sidestepped him, "Why do you keep following me?"
"Because you smell good!" Jackson grinned mischievously, "Seriously, Suzy, marry me. It would be better than marrying Archer Remington and living like a widow."
Suzy replied with annoyance, "What are you on about? I'm in the entertainment industry, I know there's a lot of baseless gossip. Archer Remington is perfectly healthy; the rumors are just rumors."
"Is that so? Then have a look, who's the man with him right now?" Jackson said.
Suzy looked over and saw Archer Remington standing alongside a tall, statuesque man. "Is that the Turner family's young master?" she asked.
Jackson nodded and commented, "Those two are often seen together. Some say that Archer Remington lost certain abilities after the car crash, which might have changed his preferences. And as far as I know of, that young master from the Turner family has a rather... indiscriminate private life."
Hearing this, Suzy looked at him skeptically. "You're not from Lindwood City, how do you know so much?" she asked, doubtfully.
Jackson smirked, "Because I am now a prized guest of the elder young master of the Turner family."
'Impressive! Looks like Jackson does have connections with Lindwood City's prominent Turner family.’ Suzy's heart fluttered slightly.
The Turner family in Lindwood City was not to be underestimated.
Unlike the traditional foundation of Remington's and Ebenezer's families, the Turners rose to power during turbulent times, they began their business with smuggling arms, thus their enterprises always skirted the gray areas of legality.
Although later generations of the Turners tried hard to legitimize the family's businesses, the legacy of their ancestors still left quite a reputation.
But with strong connections supporting them, the Turners were untouchable in Lindwood City.
"Are you planning to partner with the Turner family and get young Turner to help you take Aaron down?" Suzy speculated.
Jackson raised an eyebrow and smiled. "You don't need to worry about the dealings of men, Suzy. Just know that marrying me will guarantee you a better life than being with Archer Remington," he insinuated.
Suzy's eyes flickered.
She knew Jackson wasn't a good man and his intentions to marry her were merely because she was part of the Hamilton family, and he wanted to use her to challenge Aaron.
But she always felt that Jackson wasn't a match for Aaron. Besides, the idea of getting involved with the Turner family scared her.
The Turners may have appeared successful, but who knew when their illegal activities might be exposed. Anyone associated with them would be unlucky if that happened.
However, she wasn't about to show her hand and continued to engage Jackson in superficial pleasantries.
Upstairs, Nora waited at the top of the staircase for Sandy to change clothes.
Her gaze fell on the two people downstairs, and a glint in her attractive almond-shaped eyes indiEvellad she had a plan forming in her mind.
The rest of the party went smoothly, with guests enjoying themselves to the fullest. Seeing that it was getting late, Nora took her leave, bidding goodbye to Evella Remington.
Although Evella was reluctant, she still watched Nora depart with Aaron.
On the road, Nora noticed Aaron deep in thought and asked curiously, "What's on your mind? Something bothering you?"
Aaron snapped out of his reverie, "It's nothing."
"Out with it," Nora insisted playfully, putting on a stern face.
Aaron intertwined his fingers with hers and smiled, "It's honestly nothing, just thinking about some work stuff."
Nora blinked and thought of Jackson, initiating a conversation with, "I saw Jackson was here today too. Are you thinking about his situation?"
Aaron glanced at her and praised, "You're indeed perceptive; nothing gets past you."
She quite enjoyed the flattery. Nora's smile curled at the corners, signaling him to continue.
Aaron said, "Jackson has cozied up to Lindwood City's prominent Turner family heir. I've been digging into his background, but there's always been insufficient evidence. Seems like he has the Turner heir covering for him."
Hearing this, Nora inquired, "Are the Turners that powerful?"
Aaron slightly raised an eyebrow and kissed the back of her hand, "Don't worry, the Turner family may be strong, but not as strong as your husband."
Nora glanced at him, knowing he didn't want her to worry about his work, so she refrained from asking more.
"Aaron, what if I set up Suzy and Jackson together? What do you think?" Nora proposed.
At that suggestion, a flicker of interest passed through Aaron's eyes, "Why pair them up?"
Nora explained, "Because the Hamilton family wants to ally with the Remingtons, and I don't want Suzy causing trouble for the eldest Remington. What happened at the party today might have involved her, don't you think she and Jackson are a match made in heaven due to their similar unpleasantness?"
