Chapter 917 Tacit Understanding

Kyle blushed in anger as he glared at Jane like he wanted to kill her.

Zephyr smirked and stepped in front of Kyle.

"Sorry, my assistant got out of line. I apologize for her. Mr. Sullivan, you're a man. You wouldn't hold a grudge against a woman, right?"

Basically, if Kyle held a grudge, he wouldn't be considered a man.

Kyle snorted, looking pissed.

Meanwhile, Finnegan seemed intrigued, glancing at them again.

These two were interesting, but they still couldn't sway him.

"If you can't taste the wine, it seems Mr. Wright's wine knowledge isn't up to par," Finnegan said.

Zephyr replied, "We haven't finished the previous topic. Please enlighten us, Mr. Sullivan."

Kyle sneered. "You can't even taste this. Of course, it's white wine."

Zephyr raised an eyebrow. "It doesn't taste like it to me. Is it my sense of smell and taste that's off, or is this white wine fake?"

One of the event organizers, who arranged the wine, overheard and looked annoyed.

"Mr. Wright, be careful with your words. All the wine today is authentic. How could there be fake wine?"

Kyle provoked. "Exactly. Mr. Wright, are you saying Mr. Allen is using cheap wine to make a profit?"

People around started mocking Zephyr.

Zephyr stayed calm and looked at Finnegan. "Mr. Foster, you're the wine expert. Why don't you taste it and see if it's my problem or something else?"

Finnegan, intrigued, took the glass and sipped.

Zephyr asked, "Is this real white wine? Is it my problem, or..."

Finnegan glanced at Kyle. "Mr. Sullivan, this wine isn't just white wine, is it?"

Kyle's face stiffened, forcing a smile. "Yes, it's mixed with something else. But it's still a type of white wine."

Kyle had mixed two types of wine to embarrass Zephyr publicly.

He didn't expect Zephyr to ask Finnegan to taste it.

Finnegan's tasting exposed it immediately.

So Kyle had to make an excuse.

Finnegan said, "You mean the wine you mixed is also white wine?"

Kyle gave a guilty smile. "I guess so."

Finnegan said, "Mr. Sullivan, that's not right. Just like a company, your Genesis BioSciences may belong to the Sullivan Group, but the business and performance are different. You can't generalize."

Kyle smiled and agreed repeatedly.

Jane smirked. "So it's normal that Mr. Wright couldn't taste what kind of wine it is, right?"

Finnegan glanced at Zephyr. "If Mr. Wright truly understood wine, he should have been able to taste the two types of wine in it."

Zephyr smiled slightly and humbly accepted. "Mr. Foster is right. I was showing off in front of an expert."

Zephyr was graceful in his retreat, but this didn't change Finnegan's initial decision.

Finnegan wouldn't do business with Zephyr, an illegitimate child.

"Mr. Wright, you don't need to follow me anymore. Go socialize. I don't think you want me to be more annoyed with Medicovita Pharmaceuticals, which you represent."

Finnegan made his stance clear.

Kyle looked gleeful. "Mr. Foster is wise."

Finnegan glanced at him. "Mr. Sullivan, you don't need to follow me either. I don't have any plans to cooperate with your company for now."

Kyle's smile froze. Watching Finnegan walk away, he snorted, "It's just a small project. I don't even care if you want to cooperate with me!"

Kyle didn't follow Finnegan and went to chat with other business folks.

Jane frowned. Kyle had given up too easily.

The large group had plenty of projects, so losing one wasn't a big deal.

But this was their first project with Vitalis Pharmaceuticals.

They couldn't afford to fail.

But now Finnegan clearly didn't want to cooperate. What should they do to fix this?

Emilio, who had been watching, walked over.

"I told you, didn't I? It wouldn't work. Zephyr, if you can't handle it, don't pretend. Learn to cut your losses."

Zephyr didn't get angry at Emilio's mocking.

"Emilio, you're a cop. If you hit a snag in a case and someone tells you to back off, what would you do?"

Emilio would probably curse the person who told him to retreat.

"My job and yours are different, aren't they?"

Emilio glared at Zephyr, trying to save face.

"My job is for everyone, related to social peace. I can't give up easily."

Zephyr said, "Same difference. My job is for my family. Family and society, both are important."

Jane raised an eyebrow. "Makes sense."

The two exchanged a knowing smile.

Their understanding was infuriating.

Emilio kept a stern face and stayed silent.

Quentin, who had been watching, asked, "Mr. Wright, what now? Finnegan really doesn't seem to want to cooperate with our company."

Zephyr glanced at him. "Do you always succeed in business on the first try?"

"No."

"Then it's fine. I didn't expect to succeed on the first try either."

'But I do,' Jane thought.

She glanced at Aaron, who was chatting nearby. She really wanted to ask for outside help.

"Zephyr, are you doing this on purpose?" Jane asked.

Zephyr was taken aback. "On purpose for what?"

Jane said, "On purpose to fail the business deal today so you don't have to agree to my terms."

Zephyr looked at her and then laughed.

"Jane, do you cops have a particularly rich imagination?"

Jane glared at him. "What do you mean?"

Zephyr raised an eyebrow. "According to research, mice have particularly rich imaginations."

Jane chuckled. "Yeah, I'm a mouse. Starting today, I'll steal your cheese."

Zephyr laughed. "Haven't you already started stealing since the day before yesterday?"

Jane was speechless.

Watching the two banter, Emilio's face darkened.

"Zephyr, you still have the mood to joke around. Are you just playing as the general manager?"

Zephyr glanced at him. "You seemed more anxious that I am. Why are you so nosy?"

"Zephyr, stop."

Watching Zephyr turn to talk to someone else, Emilio was furious.

Jane burst out laughing.

She patted Emilio's shoulder. "Alright, stop it. Haven't you had enough? Do you want him to keep mocking you?"

Emilio took a deep breath. "Jane, is he always this talkative? Did he win you over with sweet talk? Let me tell you, a silent man is more valuable. Those who talk sweetly are all playboys."
