Chapter 145 Looking for a Stepdad

Watching Nora get pulled upstairs by Samantha, Jenny blinked her eyes questioningly and turned toward Alex and Billy at her feet.

"Alex, Billy, what are you going to do with mom?" she asked.

She was in the dark about the trio's plans.

"We're going to see a movie," Billy said.

Jenny's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? Why didn't you invite me?"

Alex glanced at Edric, "Jenny, why don't you ask Edric to take you?"

Edric called out, arched a brow, "Jenny, do you want to see a movie? Let's go, I'll take you."

Jenny rolled her eyes at him and walked over to Carter, "No need, I'll stay home with grandma."

She would have been happy to go to the movies with the kids.

But to watch it with this playboy? She'd rather rest at home.

Carter chuckled, "Jenny, you don't need to stay home with me. I'm old and about to go to sleep soon. You young folks should go out and have fun."

Hearing this, Edric perked up.

"Jenny, don't disturb grandma's rest. Why don't you go change into something nice, and I'll wait for you."

Jenny was speechless, "Why should I change clothes for you?"

Edric let out a light laugh, "You don't have to change. In my eyes, you're beautiful in anything. Of course, you're even more beautiful with nothing at all!"

His roguish demeanor made Jenny's cheeks turn red, and she clenched her fists, ready to hit him.

"Edric, can't you be serious for once!"

Edric dodged, still laughing, "Jenny, mind your manners in front of the children."

"Edric, you're the one corrupting the kids here! Just go!" Jenny tried to push him toward the door.

Edric stood his ground, pulling her into an embrace, "Who sends away a guest?"

Jenny writhed in his arms, "What guest? You're just a rascal!"

Edric gripped her waist lightly, leaned in, and kissed her on the lips.

Jenny stiffened.

After a moment, she yelled out, "Edric, you're so annoying!"

"Jenny, I know you like me, so there's no need to talk in opposites!"

"That's not talking in opposites. Edric, let go of me!"

Watching the two of them bicker, Alex and Billy exchanged glances and silently turned away.

If Mr. Gordon was as formidable as Edric, then his becoming their father must indeed be just around the corner!

Upstairs, Samantha scurried ahead, leading the way to the walk-in closet, and flung open the wardrobe doors.

She looked up, scanning through the options, and finally picked out a dress.

"Mom, wear this pretty dress!" she exclaimed, holding the garment up for Nora's approval.
Nora fixed her gaze and noticed a sky-blue dress.

Its flowing fabric made the dress seem ethereal and breezy.

It was still a gift from Jenny that she had never worn.

Because she valued convenience in her daily routine, she usually wore casual outfits like jeans and T-shirts.

"Mom, hurry up and change!" Samantha urged.

"Do you like it?"

Nora took down the dress and asked.

"I do!" Samantha nodded vigorously.

"Alright then."

Everyone is drawn to beauty, and children are no exception.

She might not need to impress men, but she could still make an effort for her kids.

Nora slipped into the dress and dabbed some lip gloss on her lips.

Instantly, her complexion looked much brighter.

"There."

"Wow, Mom, you look so beautiful, like a fairy tale come to life! Mr. Gordon will definitely like it!"

Samantha's eyes sparkled as she whispered.

"What did you say?"

Nora was examining her neckline to see if something was missing and thus didn't catch her daughter's last remark.

"Nothing! Come on, Mom, we're going to be late!"

Samantha blinked her big eyes and tugged on her hand, pulling her towards the door.

Nora chuckled and, not bothering with anything else, grabbed her purse and followed her daughter downstairs.

Downstairs, Alex and Billy were impressed seeing Nora in the beautiful dress.

They shared the same thoughts as Samantha.

Mom looks so amazing. Mr. Gordon is bound to be dazzled!

They just wondered if Mr. Gordon would muster the courage to win Nora over.

"Grandma, I'm going with them to watch a movie," Nora called out to Carter.

"Of course, you guys go ahead," Carter said with a smile.

Nora then looked at Jenny, "Jenny."

"Nora, we'll join you."

Edric draped his arm over Jenny's shoulder, his eyes twinkling with mirth.

Jenny bit her lip, her almond eyes playful yet feigning annoyance, "Who said I'm going with you?"

"You are."

Edric chuckled roguishly and continued amidst Jenny's irritated expression, "Nora got all dressed up. We can't let her drive herself, can we?"

Jenny blinked, realizing his point, "So what? You're going to play chauffeur?"

"That's right since Nora is your close friend. And you, you have to come with me to drop them off."

Edric playfully tilted her chin, his actions flirtatious, yet there was an underlying elegance that was irresistibly charming.

Jenny's eyes flickered, and she slapped away his restless hand, "Talk is talk, but can you keep your hands to yourself?"
"Alright, I won't lay a hand on you, but can I just talk?" Edric asked, leaning in slightly, his gaze lingering on her rosy lips.

Jenny instinctively covered her lips, her eyes wide with surprise.

Edric couldn't help but laugh. Teasing Jenny truly lifted his spirits.

"Let's go, Nora," he called out.

Nora watched his tall, commanding figure and couldn't suppress a chuckle. She wondered how long her best friend could resist Edric's charm.

Edric drove Nora and the three kids to the nearest movie studio complex.

"Okay, Nora, you take the kids and get out. I'll go park the car."

"Sure, thanks." Nora expressed her gratitude and disembarked with the three kids.

Jenny, sitting in the passenger seat, also prepared to exit, but he grabbed her arm.

"Where are you going? Stay with me."

Jenny's brows furrowed, annoyed. "It's just parking the car. Do you need a company for that? You sure have a big ego."

Edric turned the steering wheel with a light chuckle. "Do you really think I brought the three kids just to take Nora to a movie?"

Jenny paused, confused. "Isn't that why?"

"Of course not!"

"So, what are they here for?"

"To find Aaron!"

Jenny fell silent.

Ahead, Nora held Samantha's hand, leading Alex and Billy towards the entrance of the studio complex.

In the distance, they saw a tall man holding a large bouquet of roses, his back to them. The man was clad in a sharp, dark suit, his tall and elegant stature radiating an air of refinement and grace that made one eager to see his face.

Women passing by were casting starry-eyed glances at him, a clear indication of his handsome appearance. They assumed he was probably waiting for his girlfriend to watch a movie.

Nora mumbled to herself with a hint of curiosity, wondering what he looked like to draw much attention from passersby.

As she approached closer, the man turned around.
