Chapter 41 Great trouble
<Chapter> Chapter 41 Great trouble </Chapter>
Seeing Aaron fall silent, Nora's lips curled into a teasing smile.
A knowing look played across her lovely face, as she settled onto the stool. Noticing a bead of sweat trickle down Aaron's forehead, she reached for a tissue and gently wiped it away.
The man was striking, with brows sharp and defined and eyes that sparkled like stars, undeniably charming.
His bare, honeyed skin, slightly misted with moisture, only accentuated his masculine allure.
The sight of this handsome man bathing could send one's imagination into overdrive.
Nora quashed the wild thoughts swirling in her head and asked nonchalantly, "Thomas, who are you, really?"
Aaron glanced at her, "Do you really care about my identity that much?"
"Yeah, I mean, if you're rich, I could get reimbursed for my expenses, right?"
A soft chuckle escaped from Aaron, "Always looking for a buck."
"Of course, I've got my three little treasures to look after!"
Nora's thoughts turned to her dearest 'three little ones', and her heart softened.
Aaron's gaze settled on her face, and his lips pursed slightly in thought.
As the old saying goes, beauty becomes more captivating the longer you look.
Her skin, pale and lovely, looked even softer under the warm light.
Her delicate, cherry lips bore a natural blush.
The graceful arc of her swan-like neck, the gentle rise and fall of her chest...
All these details inadvertently set the heart racing.
"Hmm? Why are you breathing so heavily? Is your chest really that tight?"
Nora, catching Aaron's increasingly heavy breaths, took on a serious expression and reached out once more to check his pulse.
Aaron's Adam’s apple moved visibly, as he struggled to contain the turmoil inside. Avoiding her gaze, he said, "I'm fine. You should leave now."
If she didn't leave soon, he feared he wouldn't be able to hold himself together!
Nora cast a probing glance at him and said, "I'll be right outside. Just hang in there a bit longer; you'll be okay soon."
Aaron just grunted an acknowledgment, watching her silhouette retreat as he exhaled deeply.
How many times had it been now?
That he'd let his mind wander in her presence?
After another half hour, Nora re-entered the room.
"You can get up now."
The sight of the handsome man fresh from the bath was even more striking.
Nora dismissed her stray thoughts and briskly dried him off, helping him into bed.
Watching her dab away the sweat at his temples, Aaron's eyes flickered with an indiscernible sentiment.
In silence, Nora positioned the medical supplies she had prepared earlier next to the bed.
"What's this?"
"Herbal medicine."
Nora sat by the bed with a serious expression.
Aaron held his breath, watching intently as she skillfully and earnestly began to administer treatment.
Perhaps it was his imagination, but ten minutes later, he felt a sharp sting in the soles of his feet. Again and again, like tiny needles pricking the skin.
Aaron's pupils dilated, and he suddenly grabbed Nora's hand.
"Nora, I think I can feel the pain!"
Nora nearly toppled over onto him with his abrupt pull.
She braced herself on the bed just in time to steady her body.
"Thomas, are you trying to kill yourself? If I hadn't been paying attention, you'd be coughing up blood right now!"
Nora's eyes blazed as she scolded Aaron.
Aaron chuckled, "No way, even if I was on my way to the afterlife, you'd yank me back, right?"
The man's features were exceptionally attractive.
And his smile was downright mesmerizing.
Nora caught her breath and straightened up.
"Lucky for you, you ran into me. Feeling any pain now? If not, I might start doubting my skills."
Her skills were not to be underestimated!
Aaron watched Nora intently, his heart racing.
Rumor had it that there was a Dr. Sun making waves in the past couple of years.
He had operated on the spouses of many world leaders, saving the wife of one who had a mere two months to live, as pronounced by other doctors.
Could it be that this enigmatic Dr. Sun was actually the gorgeous girl before him?
If so, his luck was indeed enviable!
At a luxurious apartment in Houston, Becky was looking at Martha, who had just finalized her divorce, both angry and anxious.
"Mom, did you and Dad really get a divorce? How could this happen? How could Dad be so heartless?"
Martha's face was pale.
Because Charles has something on her, she had no choice but to swallow her anger and settle for the mere thirty million Charles offered her to get the divorce done.
Men can be so cold-hearted.
"Mom, with the divorce, won't the elite society's ladies laugh at me?"
Becky's eyes reddened, "And Lucas, he was already looking down on me, and now with the divorce, he'll surely despise me even more! Am I destined to be a mistress forever?"
At Becky's words, Martha hugged her, her face contorting with emotion.
"All of this is Nora's fault, that little wench. Becky, don't worry, Mom won't let her be a thorn in your side!"
"Mom, what are you thinking of doing?"
"Don't you worry, I've got a plan!"
Although Aaron's leg had regained sensation, walking was still a way off.
The kids were overjoyed hearing that Aaron's leg was improving, looking forward to the day he would stand again.
The school season was fast approaching.
On the eve of the kids going back to school, Jenny gave them a call.
"Nora, I'm still out of town with some artists for a reality show, so I can't take the little ones to school myself tomorrow."
Jenny's voice was laced with regret.
As a physical trainer at YJ Media, she wasn't new to the drill. The company often sent her on location to assist their artists during variety show tapings. This time, however, it coincided with the start of the school year.
"No worries, I can drop the little munchkins off," she assured.
Nora chuckled, a thought suddenly striking her. "Hey, did your boss give you any trouble afterward?"
She'd never forgive herself if her best friend got on Edric's bad side because of her.
"Pfft. Edric, that playboy? For some odd reason, he's been all sweet on me lately," Jenny confided. "He even made a point of dropping by the set, fussing over me so much that everyone started thinking I'm his new favorite. You should've seen the daggers the other artists shot at me."
Nora's eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "Jenny, could it be that Edric's taken a fancy to you?"
"No way."
"Why not? You're gorgeous, with a heart of gold. If I were a guy, I'd definitely give Paul a run for his money to win you over," Nora teased, her lips curling up into a smile.
Paul was Jenny's boyfriend. They had been together for two years, their relationship as solid as a rock.
"Aw, stop it, you're sweet-talking me now," Jenny playfully protested.
"I only speak the truth."
"Nora, why do I love hearing you talk so much?"
With a few more exchanges of banter, they ended the call.
Glancing at the time, Nora knew it was bedtime for her three little ones. Heading to the nursery, she found the boys obediently lying in bed, while another bed lay empty.
"Alex, Billy, where's Samantha?"
