Chapter 614 Unable to Control Your Brother

Nora finally called Frederick over to take the heavily intoxicated Howard out of the tavern.

"Evella, can you take your uncle back home?" Frederick asked.

Evella nodded. "Sure."

As they were about to leave, Howard refused to budge.

He broke free from Frederick's grasp and unsteadily grabbed Richard, saying, "Bro, Don't leave. Let me take you for a bath. We can drink later."

Richard was also a bit drunk; his eyes glazed over as he remained silent.

Howard kept babbling incoherently, making it unbearable to watch.

Nora chuckled, gesturing for Frederick to escort Howard away to stop him from making a fool of himself more.

Frederick forced Howard out of the tavern, saying, "Evella, let's head out first. Richard, are you okay?"

Despite being a bit drunk, Richard still had a hint of clarity, saying, "I'm fine, you two can leave now."

"Godfather, lean on me a bit; I'll help you walk." Evella draped Richard's arm over her shoulder and guided him out.

"I'm fine; I can still drink."

"I told you to drink a little less, but you didn't listen to me."

In another private room, Rachel finished entertaining a group of business elites with her father , only to see Richard embracing Evella intimately.

Rachel furrowed her brows, feeling puzzled.

She knew Richard well, but he wasn't the type to take advantage of girls.

But now, seeing him with Rachel like that, it seemed like he genuinely liked her.

After a moment of silence, Rachel took out her phone and snapped a photo.

Outside, Frederick drove Nora and Howard back to the Hamilton family.

Howard fell into a deep sleep as soon as he touched the bed, not waking up even close to dinnertime.

"Mom, Grandpa wants us to have dinner together. Are you going?" Nora asked. She was getting ready to head to the Gordon Manor and asked Emma if she wanted to join.

"No. I'll stay home and look after Howard." Emma's expression turned sour. "Howard never drank this much before. Who got him so drunk today?"

Nora didn't mention they had dinner with Richard, only saying they were with friends to avoid Emma's nagging.

"Howard was in a good mood today; that's why he drank so much," Nora chuckled, trying to divert the topic.

Emma remarked, "Be honest, Evella was at the table too, right?"

Nora surrendered.

Emma was quite sharp. She always hit the mark.

Seeing her silent smile, Emma knew she had guessed correctly. She said, "I knew it! Evella just watched Howard drink without stopping him at all. Doesn't she even know he's a doctor who has to perform surgeries? Howard already has a weak stomach. Drinking too much is harmful to the stomach. Evella was clearly not a good wife!"

Nora chuckled, "Mom, it's not like that. Evella did advise Howard to drink less, but Howard insisted on drinking."

Emma remarked, "That just shows Evella can't handle Howard."

Nora chuckled, "If Evella could handle Howard, you'd end up feeling sorry for him again."

Emma paused, glaring at Nora. "I'm the bad guy anyway."

Nora took Emma's arm, coaxing her playfully, "Alright, don't be mad, Mom. Every time you frown, more wrinkles appear."

Emma relented under Nora's cajoling.

Nora said, "If you're not going, then I'll head to the Gordon Manor."

Emma replied, "Alright, go ahead."

Nora got into Frederick's car, gazing out the window as they drove.

As the sky darkened, the streetlights flickered, illuminating the bustling world outside.

Lost in her thoughts, Nora found herself thinking about Aaron, which slightly tarnished her previously good mood.

For some reason, she didn't feel like being with Aaron.

After a moment of silence, Nora took a deep breath.

This wasn't right; she was an adult now and shouldn't let her emotions control her.

If she had agreed to be engaged to Aaron, it meant she loved him.

To love someone meant accepting them completely.

She should trust Aaron, not doubt him. Because he was the man she chose, she should trust her judgment.

Thinking this way, Nora's mood returned to normal.

She dialed Aaron's number, checking if he was on his way to the Gordon Manor.

After a few rings, Aaron answered.

"Aaron, where are you?" Nora asked.

"I'm out dealing with something; what's up?" Aaron said.

Did Aaron ask her what's up?

Nora's brows furrowed unconsciously. She said, "We agreed to have dinner at the Gordon Manor tonight. Did you forget?"

On the other line, Aaron hesitated and said, "I almost forgot. I have something to attend to now. You go ahead; I'll come later."

He almost forgot.

Nora pursed her lips, responded, and then hung up.

Watching the street scene outside, she scratched her brow, feeling a bit annoyed.

In the past, Aaron would have remembered anything related to her.

She was doing it again.

Perhaps Aaron was just busy with work.

Frederick drove Nora to the Gordon Manor at the Hamilton family.

At that moment, Adelbert and Jacob were in the hall playing with Billy and Millie while Samantha was learning to sing.

Nora entered and greeted everyone.

"Mommy." Billy and Millie ran over with sparkling eyes.

Nora patted their heads, feeling better as soon as she saw them.

"Is Samantha learning to sing with the teacher?" Nora asked.

"Yes, I cleared out a room during the day to make a music room. Margaret just arrived and is teaching Samantha to sing now," Adelbert said.

"Thank you, Grandpa," Nora smiled.

"No need to thank me." Adelbert waved his hand, smiling.

Jacob asked, "Nora, isn't Aaron coming with you?"

Nora's smile faltered briefly, but she quickly regained her composure, saying, "He's still busy. He said he'll come later."

Jacob nodded, not pressing further, and asked Billy to come over to explain a math problem he got wrong.

Millie also ran over, leaning in to listen to Jacob's explanation.

Nora watched Millie's curly hair and blinked, saying, "Grandpa, can Millie understand?"

Adelbert chuckled, "Don't underestimate Millie. While she may not be as advanced as Alex and Billy, she's smarter in numbers than Samantha."

Nora was surprised; she assumed that girls would lean towards literature, but Millie was an exception.

"Grandpa, are you implying Samantha isn't smart?" Nora teased.

"How could that be? I dote on Samantha," Adelbert quickly denied. Why would we need so many math geniuses at home? Samantha's talents lie in singing and dancing. She's the joy of our hearts. Just seeing her makes us happy."

Amused, Nora chuckled, "Grandpa, I was just teasing. I'll go check on Samantha first."

Adelbert replied, "Go ahead."

The music room was located on the ground floor near the garden.

Nora brought a plate of fruits from the kitchen, stood by the door, and listened to the sounds inside.

Margaret was teaching Samantha to sing.

Margaret's bel canto was very standard.

Due to her age, Samantha's voice sounded a bit childish, but it was evident that she was learning well.

Nora stood outside the door listening for about fifteen minutes, deciding not to interrupt.

When she heard Margaret tell Samantha to take a break, she prepared to push the door open.

At that moment, someone tapped her shoulder.

She turned around to see Aaron had arrived.
