Chapter 431 Difficult Matchmaking
Mrs. Remington Senior spoke with great seriousness and concern.
Evella couldn't bear to hear her say these things, and she wanted to cry.
She hugged Mrs. Remington Senior's arm and acted spoiled, saying, "Grandma, you'll live to be a hundred years old. I don't want to get married; I want to be with you."
Mrs. Remington Senior patted her head and replied, "Silly child, don't say foolish things. People eventually die. I can only rest easy after I have settled you down before I die."
Evella pouted, and said, "But I really don't like Howard. And I'm still young; I really don't want to get married so early."
Mrs. Remington Senior looked at this pitiful granddaughter and let out a sigh.
"Evella, why don't you understand my heartfelt intentions?" she asked.
This foolish child even had to sacrifice her Grandson's happiness for this lifelong matter!
Thinking about what Emma had said, she hesitated to speak.
Mrs. Remington Senior said, "Okay, listen to your Grandma. It's fine if you don't like the Hamilton family's second son right now. After all, feelings can be cultivated slowly. He is a really good child; I have taken a liking to him."
Evella wanted to refuse, "But Grandma..."
Mrs. Remington Senior interrupted, "All right, go and do your things. You don't have to keep me company here."
Mrs. Remington Senior didn't want to say much more; she would wait for her grandson to come back and discuss the union between the two families with him.
Although she wasn't satisfied with the Hamilton family's adopted daughter, Suzy, compared to her granddaughter's happiness, she decided to sacrifice her grandson's happiness.
On one hand, her grandson was a strong and responsible man who needed to broaden his horizons and shoulder greater responsibilities.
Moreover, with his cold temperament, even if Suzy couldn't temporarily become a competent hostess, he would know how to train her over time.
On the other hand, she owed it to her daughter. Only by marrying her granddaughter into a prestigious and affluent family could she ensure that her daughter's background wouldn't become the subject of ridicule.
And the Hamilton family was the best place for her granddaughter.
According to the intentions of her grandson, Howard didn't object to marrying her granddaughter.
He also had a favorable impression of her granddaughter.
This made things easier.
As long as Howard liked Evella, she wasn't afraid that the Hamilton family would not like her granddaughter.
After all, it was the young couple who would be living together in the future.
And if her granddaughter really wanted to marry into the Hamilton family, she would have to negotiate with them.
Once her granddaughter married into the Hamilton family, they would have to live separately from the in-laws.
This was to protect her innocent granddaughter from the manipulations of her mother-in-law!
Outside.
Evella was anxious.
Her Grandmother was determined to marry her off to Howard this time.
What should she do?
She really didn't want to get married.
Evella hurriedly ran back to her room to message Nora.
Evella: [Nora, what should I do? You've ruined me! Because I spent the night with Howard in a hotel, now my Grandmother insists on me marrying him.]
At this time, Nora had just returned home.
Seeing Evella's message, she couldn't help feeling guilty.
This really got out of hand!
It's all Aaron's fault if he had just let her pick up Evella at the time.
Then, a series of things wouldn't have happened afterward.
Nora stuck out her tongue, thought for a moment, and called Evella.
"Evella, are you home?" Nora asked.
"Yes." Evella sounded listless. "Nora, you really ruined me. My Grandmother insists on me marrying Howard, but I really don't want to get married. What should I do?"
Nora coughed lightly and said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to. So, what did your Grandmother say?"
Evella said, "She said Howard is my ideal match, and because he spent the night with me, he should take responsibility for me."
Nora was surprised, and asked, "Didn't she say anything else?"
It seems Mrs. Remington Senior hasn't told Evella about Emma's request that the Remington Family's eldest brother marry Suzy as well.
"No," Evella said.
Nora thought for a moment. "Evella, don't worry for now. Let's talk tomorrow. Maybe your Grandmother will change her mind by then," she suggested.
"Huh? Why?" Evella didn't understand.
"Just wait and see until tomorrow," Nora temporarily kept her suspense.
Now that the Remington Family's eldest brother and Harper have checked into a hotel, he will have to take responsibility for Harper.
So, he won't be able to marry Suzy anymore.
If Emma hasn't arranged the marriage for Suzy yet, she will certainly oppose Howard marrying Evella.
Mrs. Remington Senior was also concerned about face, so it was impossible to force Evella onto Howard anymore.
Unless Howard himself wanted to marry Evella.
But now it seems that Howard wouldn't want to marry Evella either.
So, this marriage should be called off.
"Well then, let's meet again for lunch tomorrow and talk about it," Nora said.
Even though Evella was full of curiosity, she didn't ask further.
She said, "Nora, I don't care. If Grandma still wants me to marry Howard, you'll have to give me advice on how to run away from the wedding."
Run away from the wedding!
Nora laughed, and said, "Evella, is my brother such a fearsome beast that you want to avoid him at all costs?"
Evella said, "Oh, I just don't like him. Plus, I'm still young and not ready to get married so early."
Nora felt somewhat helpless, and said, "All right, we'll talk more when we meet tomorrow."
Evella agreed, "Okay."
After hanging up, Nora took a deep breath while holding her cell phone.
Playing matchmaker is so difficult!
She can't do this again next time!
"Who were you talking to on the phone?" Aaron pushed open the door and entered, seeing Nora lost in thought with her cell phone.
"I was talking to Evella," Nora replied.
Aaron questioned, "What happened to her again?"
Nora glared at him and pinched his arm, saying, "It's all because of you that I'm so terrified now."
If Mrs. Remington Senior insists on marrying Evella to Howard against her wishes, then she would become the guilty party.
Aaron chuckled lightly, embraced her, and kissed her delicate cheek, and asked, "What are you afraid of? Haven't I told you I'm here for everything?"
Nora rolled her eyes at him, and replied, "I can see that Evella is not interested in Howard at all. If they were truly put together, I would feel remorseful. What good are you for if you can't alleviate my guilt?"
Aaron grinned, and said, "No need to fret; they aren't a couple yet, are they? Just take it easy. As long as Evella isn't keen on marriage, everyone won't force her. Sound good?"
"Did you really say that?" Nora asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, I promise. Can you rest assured now?" Aaron insisted.
Upon hearing this, Nora's heart settled slightly.
Nora said, "Let go; I'm going to take a shower."
Aaron suggested, "Let's go together."
Nora refused, "No!"
"Well, okay!" Aaron replied as he scooped her up horizontally and headed towards the bathroom.
Nora was speechless, and her hands naturally circled his neck as she scolded, "You, you promised with your mouth, didn't you?"
Aaron kicked the bathroom door open, a seductive smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"Women always say one thing and mean another, I understand." Aaron taunted.
Nora chuckled as the man carried her onto the vanity and undressed her. She resisted and said, "Can we change the same old lines? Can you use something new?"
"Oh, darling, I love you," Aaron replied.
Nora remained silent.
"Aaron, can you stop devouring me like a hungry wolf every day?" she pleaded.
"Sure, but only if you can convince Grandpa to stop giving me tonics all the time!" Aaron replied.
Nora remained silent.
