Chapter 330 I Let Go and Let Her Do It
Outside the room, in the corridor, Nora watched the group of reporters being driven out and smirked.
The outcome of the events played right into her hands; news about Suzy would surely be trending soon!
"Nora, have you had your fill of the show? Can we go have breakfast now?" asked Aaron, wrapping his arms around her waist.
Nora agreed, "Yeah, let's go. We have to eat well to have energy for what might come next."
They would surely be called back to the Hamilton family. Because Suzy would confront them face to face! She needed to prepare herself for what was coming.
Indeed, when they had just started having their breakfast at the club's restaurant, Aaron received a call from Ebenezer.
"Aaron, come to the house right away," Ebenezer's tone was sour. Aaron, holding the phone in one hand, used his other hand to wipe a milk smudge from Nora's mouth with a tissue.
"Uncle, I'm having breakfast with Nora, I'll come over after we're done," he informed Ebenezer.
There was a moment of silence on the line, and Ebenezer's tone noticeably softened, "No rush, take your time eating."
"All right," Aaron smiled and hung up the phone.
Swallowing her food, Nora asked, "Was that my dad?"
Aaron answered, "Yeah, he said we could eat slowly and go back after we're done." He served her a meatball.
Nora nodded, "The breakfast here tastes good."
Aaron proposed, "If you like it, when we get back to Houston, I'll have the chef learn to make Lindwood City dishes."
Nora chuckled and served him a meatball as well.
The two finished their breakfast leisurely and then went to the Ebenezer's family residence.
By the time they arrived, everyone was gathered in the living room. After greeting everyone, Aaron led Nora to a seat on the couch.
Nora scanned the room and caught Sandy giving her a worried wink. She must have heard something from Suzy and was concerned for her. Nora gave her a reassuring smile, then turned her attention to Suzy.
At that moment, Suzy's eyes were swollen with tears, embraced by Emma, still sobbing.
"Aaron, what did you want to talk about?" Aaron broke the silence.
"Aaron, do you really have to ask?" Suzy said, weeping.
Before Ebenezer could speak, Emma burst out in anger, "Tell me, why did you send a message to Suzy in the middle of the night asking her to go to the Heaton clubhouse, where she was ruined by Jackson? Were you in cahoots with Jackson?"
"After all, Suzy knows you, she was your lifesaver, and you've disappointed her before—but now, you've actually hurt her. Have you lost your conscience?" she accused.
Emma was furious, and as Suzy clung to her, she gave Aaron a look of deep resentment and couldn't stop herself from crying again.
Aaron was about to speak, his expression calm, when Nora quickly cut in, "I was the one who sent the message."
At that, Suzy's crying came to an abrupt halt.
She stared at Nora with a death grip, screaming excitedly, "So it was you who had sabotaged me! I knew Aaron wouldn't do such a despicable act, it could only be you! Nora, why would you hurt me? How can you be so malicious?"
She wondered to herself, even if Aaron didn't like her, he wouldn't act so low to degrade her like this.
Since she had saved his life once; he wasn't the type to be so spiteful. She had a hunch it was Nora's doing, and indeed, the wench!
"Let me correct you, I stepped back and allowed Nora to do this," Aaron interjected with a glance at Suzy. "I believe you all know me well enough to understand that if I intend to deal with someone, I either don't act, or if I do, I play a hundred times harder!" His words were brimming with affection and indulgence for Nora.
Suzy's face flushed with frustration, her expression changing rapidly.
Howard, standing nearby, frowned and couldn't help but say, "Aaron, are you actually condoning Nora's actions? You know Suzy is about to be engaged to the eldest son of the Remington family, yet you let Jackson shame her? After all these years of friendship, do you really need to hurt her this way?"
Aaron looked at him, "Nora is my woman. She was almost harmed by Suzy. Should I just stand by and watch her be bullied?"
‘Suzy harmed Nora?’ Howard paused, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"It means I'm simply fighting fire with fire," Nora interjected, taking over the conversation.
All eyes landed on her.
Nora, with a cool expression, looked at Suzy, "Suzy, you've schemed against me time and again. Did you really think I was so passive that I wouldn't get angry? We won't talk about the past, but this time, you instigated Luna Moore at the party to almost burn me. Why shouldn't I strike back?"
How did she know it was her who incited Luna Moore? Suzy's face turned pale, her eyes flickered, "What do you mean 'instigated Luna Moore'? I did no such thing!"
"Really? Can you swear that on your life?" asked Nora.
"I… I will swear!" Suzy said, albeit reluctantly.
Sandy couldn't help but speak up, "Suzy, I saw you and Miss Moore from the Moore family coming out of the restroom after each other, and then Miss Moore directed her little nephew to throw firecrackers at Nora. You definitely instigated her."
‘So, she was the one spreading rumors!’ Suzy glared at her, retorting, "Just because you saw us leaving the restroom consecutively, does that mean I was the instigator? Did you hear it with your own ears?"
"I..." Sandy bit her lip, then looked towards Nora.
Suzy was always good at making excuses. Relying on the fact that no one else was listening, she fiercely denied everything!
Nora's lips curled into a cold smirk, and said, "Perhaps we should just call Miss Moore right now and ask if what you’re saying is true. I trust she won’t deny the truth. Suzy, sowing discord and using others to do your dirty work has always been your specialty, hasn't it?"
Her words were loaded with significance. Howard, the one she mentioned, quickly thought back to a time in Houston when Suzy used a psychologist to hypnotize Becky and almost had Nora killed.
His face turned an array of colors.
At that time, Aaron let it slide because Suzy had once saved his life. If Nora spoke up about it now, knowing his father’s temperament, he was sure Suzy wouldn't be let off the hook!
Ebenezer, who had been silent up until now, frowned and asked, "Nora, has Suzy ever done anything else to you?"
Nora looked at Suzy and drawled, "I clearly remember, she once…"
"Stop talking, it's all my fault. Can I just go and die?" Suzy's face turned pale as she cried out, stood up, and smashed a teacup from the coffee table onto the floor. Picking up the shattered pieces, she tried to slash her own wrists.
Emma, standing nearby, was horrified and quickly grabbed her. "Suzy, don't do this! Put down the shards!"
Howard quickly stepped forward, frowning as he took the shards from her hand.
Nora watched with an expression of mockery. The woman deserved an award for her acting ability.
With such a display of tears and tantrums, who would dare to hold her accountable for her past mistakes?
