Chapter 123 Wasn't Aaron Single?

Hearing his wife and daughter's accusations, Michael set down his daughter, and his face darkened with fury. "Let's see, who is this blind fool who dares to trouble my wife and child?"

Aaron remained silent, simply observing the family's one-sided tirade.

As a Sales Manager for the Gordon Group, he wasn't high up the ranks to warrant Aaron's recognition, which meant he didn't know who Michael was.

Noe, however, standing by silently, did recognize Michael.

So, with a frosty tone, he asked, "Michael, do you have the gall to insult Mr. Gordon?"

Michael, who was too focused on his wife and child as he had entered, hadn't noticed Aaron and Noe at first.

Now, seeing Noe in the room, his face registered shock.

"Noe?"

With a cold scoff, Noe affirmed, "Yes, it's me."

Michael's heart skipped a beat. His gaze flickered to Aaron, who was seated in a wheelchair. A shudder coursed through him.

What had Noe just said to him?

Did he insinuate that he had dared to insult Mr. Gordon? Wasn't this man in the wheelchair Mr. Gordon of the Gordon Group? Could it be that the man in conflict with his wife was none other than Mr. Gordon?

In a flash, Michael felt a chill run down his spine and quickly approached with a fawning look. "Mr. Gordon, what a surprise to see you here! I-is this your child?"

"Since when is Aaron married? His wife just hinted that they're married! And that little girl in his arms is somewhat resembling him!"

Michael was sweating bullets as he told him, "Of course not, Mr. Gordon. You were right to reprimand them."

He wouldn't dare to contradict his boss!

"Dad, they hit mom and me. You've got to stand up for us!" wailed Rosalind, oblivious to the fact that Aaron was her father's boss.

She only knew that her mother was always bragging about how formidable her father was.

He had even promised her that it was her place to bully others, not the other way around, and he would definitely teach anyone a lesson if they dared to mess with her!

"Exactly, Michael. I can't just let this cripple hit me for no reason. If you're any sort of man, you'd defend your wife and daughter!" Margot said angrily, seeing Michael back down.

Michael was petrified when he heard her keep calling Aaron a cripple, his heart racing out of his chest.

He turned around and slapped her hard across the face.

"Idiot, do you know who he is? He's the CEO of Gordon Group. Do you want me to lose my job?" he hissed.

Margot was shocked that her husband not only didn't defend her but struck her instead.

Holding her face, her eyes reddened with rage, she lunged forward to scratch Michael's face.

"Michael, how dare you hit me? You coward, you always boasted there wasn't a problem you couldn't fix. Now, when your wife and daughter are being bullied, not only do you not defend us, you take it out on me?"

Michael's face was left with a scratch, filling him with anger and frustration.

"Idiot, have you lost your mind? Why on earth did I marry someone as foolish as you?"

"What are you saying? Are you tired of me now? Do you think I don't know; you've got a mistress on the side. Are you planning to divorce me and marry that home-wrecker? Well, forget it!"

"Idiot! It's you forcing this divorce upon us! If you can't be a good wife, then step aside!"

The couple caused a barrage of chaos, shouting and getting physical.

Rosalind was in tears while the teacher quickly tried to intervene.

Nora watched the scene, frowning deeply.

No wonder their child was a handful with parents like these.

"Let's get out of here," she said.

Nora wasn't in the mood to watch the others argue, nestling close to her two brothers and speaking to Aaron.

"Alright."

Aaron's eyebrow quirked slightly as he lifted Samantha into his lap, then had Noe push them out in the wheelchair.

Alex and Billy watched their Samantha perched on Aaron's lap with eyes reflecting envy.

Mr. Gordon sure spoils Samantha! Envy! And admiration!

Mr. Gordon stood up for them that day!

After leaving the school, Aaron turned to Noe and said, "Noe, when you've got a moment, dig into Michael's background. See if he's been lining his pockets. That kind of weasel has no place in our company."

It was clear Michael had strutted in with arrogance. He must've been throwing his weight around frequently.

Had it been someone else today, he wouldn't have let things slide so easily.

This kind of morally corrupt person might be up to no good, tampering with company operations.

"Yes," Noe responded.

Aaron glanced down at Samantha sitting on his lap and continued, "Also, touch base with the principal. Look into Alex's teacher and see if she's been accepting gifts or committing any misconduct. I don't want to see her teaching Alex's class tomorrow."

It seemed the performance slot for Samantha was switched all of a sudden, very likely due to some parent's meddling.

"Yes!" Noe continued, affirming the order.

Aaron added, "And remind the principal to uplift the teachers' standards and character. It shouldn't be about favoritism. Whoever was scheduled to perform at the recital is the one who should perform."

"Yes."

Noe understood that Aaron was sticking up for Nora's three kids.

Nora must be moved, he thought.

Nora, trailing behind, heard it all and held back her words.

She didn't want Aaron to abuse his power.

But at the same time, she wasn't ungrateful.

If Aaron hadn't stood up for her children today, they would have faced more hardships.

The group reached Aaron's car.

Seeing Aaron set Samantha on the ground, Nora asked, "Aren't you busy? What brings you to the preschool?"

Aaron looked at her. "Can't I pick up the kids after school?"

Nora was silent.

His tone made it seem like he had an obligation to pick up the kids.

He wasn't their father, after all!

"Nora, Mr. Gordon got Samantha a bunch of cute dresses. He wanted her to see them first, so he came with me to pick the kids up," Noe interjected.

At the mention of pretty dresses, Samantha's eyes sparkled.

"Daddy, where are the pretty dresses?"

Aaron's lips quirked into a hint of a smile, silently motioning for Noe to pop the trunk.

"Samantha, come take a look," Noe chuckled.

Samantha bounded over with glee.

Alex and Billy couldn't help but follow.

"What a pretty dress!"

"It kind of looks like the one Mommy wore yesterday."

"Alex, Billy, if I wear this dress, will I become a fairy princess?"

Listening to the chatter of the three kids, Nora glanced at Aaron and pursed her lips.

Is her daughter still calling Aaron 'Daddy'?

She'll have to correct that later.

"Thanks for earlier," Nora said.

Her tone was a bit stiff as if she was intentionally keeping her distance.

Aaron raised an eyebrow slightly. "Nora, if you really want to thank me, how about being a little nicer to me?"

Nora responded, "When have I ever been mean to you?"

Aaron replied, "Are you really that nice to me? Shouldn't one be gentle with their benefactor? Maybe throw in a little coquettish charm?"

Nora glared at him, clearly unamused.

Aaron chuckled lightly, "See, there you go, glaring at me again. Is this how you say you're nice to me?"

Nora pursed her lips, then in a contrived falsetto, she said, "Thomas, thank you so much!"

Aaron was speechless.

Nora herself felt a tinge of awkwardness in her voice.

She looked at him, cleared her throat, and her voice returned to normal.

"Do you need a trash can?"

Aaron was taken aback. "For what?"

"Didn't you feel like throwing up?"

Aaron fell silent once more.
