Chapter 341 I Only Admit to Being Crazy About My Wife
There was a brief silence on the other end, and then Quinn's coquettish voice came through, "What are you talking about?"
‘Still playing dumb!’ he thought, angrily. Aaron's jaw tightened, his icy aura spreading silently.
Without hearing his voice, Quinn knew he was upset. "All right, Aaron, don't be mad. I admit, not long after I met Baldwin, I found out about his mother."
Acknowledging her confession, Aaron asked, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Quinn paused, then joked, "I wanted to protect you quietly."
Aaron scoffed coldly. "Jokes now? I was nearly poisoned to death by Hollis!"
"Hehe, but here you are, standing and scolding me just fine, aren’t you?" Quinn burst into laughter, "Relax, Aaron, you have the full forehead and broad features of a lucky man. And with me as your lucky charm, you're definitely going to live a long life."
Aaron's face was skewed with sarcasm, "You sure know how to flatter yourself. My lucky star is only Nora."
"Sure, sure, I won't compete with Nora for the title of lucky star," Quinn chuckled.
Aaron was silent for a moment, "Does Baldwin also know about his mother's schemes?"
Quinn's smile faded a little, "Yes, he does."
"Warn him if his mother dares to concoct another scheme, she'll have her son to pay the debt!" Aaron said coldly.
"Got it! Don't worry; he's always been against his mother's vindictive plots. Now that I'm here, you wouldn't believe how relieved he is," Quinn's voice brightened again.
Aaron snorted coldly, "He's getting off easy."
Quinn laughed, "Oh, having a brother who's crazy about spoiling his sister, I'm suddenly feeling quite thrilled!"
Aaron chuckled, "Don't get ahead of yourself; I'm only recognized for being crazy about spoiling my wife."
"Pfft! Anything else, Mr. Wife-Spoiler?" Quinn teased.
Aaron replied, "No, that's it. Hang up." After hanging up the phone, he rubbed his temples, feeling how incredibly lucky he was.
He never expected that the person who nearly killed him in a car accident would be standing right before him.
He thought about the fact that it was his father's fault and shook his head. Let bygones be bygones. If it wasn't for the accident, he wouldn't have met Nora.
For the sake of Nora and Quinn, as long as Hollis does not cause trouble in the future, he would let her be!
Nora asked, "What are you thinking about?" She saw him standing, lost in thought in the hallway as walked up behind him, patting him on the shoulder.
Aaron snapped back to reality, looking at her beautiful and exquisite face, and replied with a few words, "Thinking of you."
This man, how can sweet nothings come so easily to him?! Nora gave him a side-eye, "A man's mouth can sure spin tales."
Aaron laughed softly, wanting to embrace her.
Nora stepped back quickly and said, "Let's restrain ourselves in public."
This time Aaron didn't object, his eyes filled with adoration as he nodded, "As my wife says."
Sunlight streamed down the corridor, highlighting his handsome face with a tender warmth that made her heart flutter. Soon enough, the math competition ended, and the twin brothers walked out with the crowd.
Nora asked, "So, Alex and Billy, how was it? Were the problems tough?"
Alex shrugged, "They were okay."
Billy added, "We could solve them."
The two boys wore matching expressions of smug pride on their identical little faces. Nora couldn't help but feel amused.
The results of the competition will be revealed after a month, but given their confident demeanor, it seemed like it's a foregone conclusion..
"These kinds of contests are child's play for Alex and Billy," Jacob calmly said.
The two little guys nodded in unison.
Nora mused silently, ‘This grandfather and his grandsons weren't exactly the humble type!’
Looking at the other contestants around them, downcast and dejected, one could only imagine the uproar if they overheard this display of arrogance!
Nora cleared her throat, "Alex, Billy, try to be a bit more down to earth."
Before the boys could respond, Jacob pulled them in, "We are proud because we have the skills. Anyone who disagrees can come and challenge us!"
Nora was dumbfounded by their boastfulness. As their mother, she felt ill-equipped to teach them about modesty. "Let's go home," she declared.
Jacob, exuding a haughty charm, took the lead, holding each brother by a hand.
Aaron picked up Samantha, wrapping one arm around Nora, "Let's go."
"All right," Nora said, agreeably. She felt a warmth radiating in her heart as they got into the car, enjoying the pleasant breeze and drove back to their villa.
After having lunch with the family, she rested at home for the remainder of the afternoon. In the evening, she received a call from Sandy. She wanted to take the three little ones out for a meal.
Nora chuckled, "Sandy, you remembered, huh?"
Sandy said, "I promised yesterday. I can't go back on my word as an aunt, can I?"
"Well, thanks for treating us," Nora replied without declining.
"I'll text you the address. Call Mr. Gordon, and we'll meet you there in a bit." After hanging up, Sandy sent the restaurant's address to Nora's phone.
Nora curved her lips into a smile and went to tell the three little ones, who were chatting with Jacob, to get dressed. "Grandpa, want to join us for dinner out?" she asked.
"No, you kids have fun," Jacob replied, fully aware they were also planning to catch a band's performance that evening and not wanting to impose.
Nora, with the three children looking sharp in their freshly pressed outfits, joined Frederic in the car and they headed off to the restaurant.
Arriving at the upscale restaurant Sandy had booked, a waiter guided them to a private room on the third floor.
As they turned to a corner, Nora caught a glimpse of a man's silhouette flashing by. She stopped in her tracks, and looked more carefully, but the figure had disappeared.
‘That man... could it have been Edric? And was there a woman with him?’ she wondered. Nora's brow furrowed slightly before she continued walking forward.
Ever since Jenny and Edric got together, Nora found her connection with Jenny gradually decreasing. For one thing, they were both busy, and the other, a woman falling deeply in love often tends to neglect her friendships.
Of course, she was happy for Jenny, but Edric used to be quite the playboy. She hoped he wasn't cheating on Jenny behind her back. She should not jump to conclusions; she might have seen wrongly earlier.
Lost in thought, Nora walked into the private dining room with her three little ones. Sandy had been waiting there since the afternoon and greeted the children with a warm smile, handing each of them a bright red envelope.
Nora chuckled and remarked, "You actually prepared red envelopes?"
"Of course, it's a little something for our first meeting, for the kids to celebrate the new year," Sandy said.
"Children, you should thank your great Aunt then," Nora suggested.
"Thank you, great Aunt!" the three little ones said in unison.
Sandy was over the moon and urged the waiter to get the food out quickly.
"Is Mr. Gordon not with you?" Sandy inquired.
"He mentioned he might have some engagements. Let me check in with him," Nora replied as she texted Aaron.
Nora: [You're tied up with engagements?]
Soon after, Aaron replied.
Aaron: [Yeah, you guys go ahead and eat.]
Nora sent another message.
Nora: [Will you still be able to make it to the show tonight?]
He assured her.
Aaron: [Don't worry, I've cleared my evening, I won't stand you up.]
Nora's lips curved into a smile as she typed.
Nora: [It's okay if you can't make it, take care of what you need to.]
Aaron: [Do you not want me to come?]
