Chapter 823 Why Found a Policewoman as a Girlfriend

Nora flattered, "Mom, how can you be so smart? No wonder you gave birth to such a clever daughter like me."

Emma gave her a sidelong glance, revealing a subtle smile.

"Don't flatter me. A married daughter means to leave her parents. If you don't come back, I'll accept it. Anyway, I have my grandson to keep me company."

Nora laughed. "Mom, now that you have a grandson, you don't want your daughter anymore."

Emma said, "Yes, daughters are meant to leave. It's fine. I have Otis, Billy, Samantha and others to keep me company."

Nora pouted. "Mom, come on! I know you love spoiling your little princess."

Emma rolled her eyes at her, but her smile grew wider.

"You must be hungry. Go eat."

Nora linked arms with her and walked towards the dining room.

Kenneth was at the hospital with Sandy.

There was no one else at home.

"Why isn't Dad home?" Nora asked.

"He went to see Sandy's father."

"Is there something going on?" Nora asked.

"Nothing much, probably discussing business and Otis's one-month party," Emma replied.

Nora nodded. "And what about Howard? Is he still busy at the hospital?"

"I don't know." Emma's face tightened, looking a bit displeased.

Nora helped her to the dining table and smiled. "What? Did Howard make you angry again?"

Emma sat down. "Hmph, ask him."

Nora chuckled. "Mom, why do you say that?"

What did Howard do this time to upset Emma?

Emma said, "Since Howard started dating Evella, our house has become a revolving door. He's either at the hospital, or rushing off to her uncle's, leaving us feeling like we're living in a hotel."

So Emma was jealous.

Nora found it amusing and teased, "Looks like sons and daughters are unreliable. Grandchildren are the way to go."

Emma rolled her eyes. "That's true"

Nora said, "Mom, you should get Howard married soon, so he and Evella can give you more grandchildren to play with."

Emma nodded in agreement. "You're right. I'll discuss it with Maisie in the next few days and pick a good date to arrange Howard's marriage."

After a pause, she added, "I also need to pick a good date for Otis's one-month party. And then there's your wedding with Aaron. Speaking of which, there are quite a few happy events in the family this year."

Nora laughed, "It's going to be a whirlwind of celebrations."

Emma glanced at her. "No, I won't pick a date for you and Aaron yet. Aaron promised me that there would be no wedding this year so that you can stay with me for another year."

Nora smiled. "Alright, I'll do as you say."

Emma was naturally pleased to see her being obedient.

But then she thought of something and became unhappy again. "But whether you have a wedding or not, you still don't live at home."

Nora found it amusing. "But I'm here with you now."

Emma rolled her eyes. "No need, you should go back to Aaron's house."

"I won't. I want to stay home and keep you company."

The two chatted and laughed. After dinner, Nora went to the hospital to see Sandy and Otis.

Sandy had just finished feeding, and Otis was sleeping soundly in his crib.

Babies changed every day, and Nora felt that Otis's appearance had changed a lot in just one day.

He looked much better.

"Kenneth, why aren't you holding the baby?"

Nora saw Kenneth busy with work on the sofa and asked.

Kenneth closed his laptop and glanced at the crib. "He probably knows I'm a tough cookie, so he gave up crying for my attention."

Nora chuckled. "Kenneth, would you really hit your son?"

Kenneth said, "Why wouldn't I? He drinks his mom's blood every day. If he's not good, he deserves a spanking."

The baby's milk was essentially the mother's blood.

Kenneth was feeling sorry for Sandy.

Nora looked at Sandy, who was leaning against the bed with a serene smile.

Of course, if the two scars on Sandy's face were gone, it would be even more perfect.

Before leaving the hospital, she thought for a moment and went to the third floor to visit Zephyr.

Partly to visit, but mostly to see the drama.

Nora wanted to see if there was any progress between Zephyr and Jane.

At that moment, Jane was not in Zephyr's ward.

In the ward were Leonard and Hubert.

Both Leonard and Hubert looked displeased.

Leonard had heard from Hubert that Zephyr was dating a female cop, so he called Zephyr and told him to bring Jane to see him immediately.

Zephyr said he was not available and would bring Jane to see Leonard another day.

After repeated questioning, Leonard found out that Zephyr was slightly injured and was in the hospital.

He couldn't wait, so he dragged his sick body downstairs to find him.

"Your girlfriend isn't here?" Leonard asked with a stern face.

"She's busy," Zephyr replied calmly.

"Zephyr, what are you thinking? Why would you date a cop? What good does it do for you or our family to marry such a woman?" Leonard said.

Zephyr glanced at him, "Dad, marriage isn't a business deal. Jane and I love each other, and that's enough."

"Zephyr, be realistic. You are a member of the Wright family. Even if you don't consider the family, you should think about yourself."

Leonard was exasperated.

Zephyr said, "Dad, I'm not a child anymore. I can make my own decisions."

"Zephyr, if you don't listen to Dad, you'll suffer the consequences. If you insist on going your own way now, you'll regret it sooner or later."

Hubert advised coolly.

"Thanks for the reminder, Hubert. I'm an adult. I won't regret what I choose to do." Zephyr's tone remained calm.

Leonard's face turned livid. "Zephyr, are you trying to drive me to my grave?"

In his agitation, he started coughing violently.

"Dad, don't get worked up."

Hubert patted his back and said, "Actually, it's not impossible for Zephyr to marry a cop."

Leonard looked at him with a stern face. "A cop? Do you think she deserves Zephyr?"

Hubert said, "An ordinary cop wouldn't be worthy of Zephyr, but if she climbs the ranks, wouldn't she be worthy then?"

Last night, Hubert had thought long and hard and decided to give it another shot.

If he could bring Jane into his camp and use her, he would let her go.

But if Jane remained unyielding, then he had to deal with her.

Leonard immediately understood what Hubert was implying.

He wanted to use the Wright family's influence and money to help Jane climb the ranks, making her position higher and ultimately using her for their benefit.
