Chapter 622 The Identical Man
Aaron furrowed his brow, looking heartache for her.
Margaret, seeing his concerned expression, welled up with tears immediately.
"How do I know which of your words are true and which are false? You even slapped me; it hurts!" Margaret sobbed.
Aaron raised his hand to wipe away the tears from her eyes, saying, "Alright, stop crying. I apologize to you. I'll transfer ten thousand dollars to you later. Consider it my apology."
At the mention of money, Margaret's crying subsided.
She said coquettishly, "Just ten thousand dollars to settle this?"
Aaron embraced her and said, "As long as you take care of me well, everything of mine will be yours in the future."
Margaret looked up at him and said, "Will you still marry me?"
Aaron replied, "Of course! But the condition is, you can't act like you did just now, undermining me foolishly."
"Got it." Margaret was appeased and began to dream of being a wealthy lady again.
She was so easy to appease.
Aaron smirked, "Let's go back to the room."
Margaret glanced at him, saying, "It was so annoying that Nora interrupted us just now. Can you still perform?"
He replied, "Wait and see if I can or not."
Around the corner downstairs, Nora hadn't left. She stood quietly, listening to the conversation between Aaron and Margaret coming from upstairs, her fingers tightening little by little.
If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes and heard it with her own ears, she wouldn't have believed that Aaron could be such a man.
He was double-faced and deceitful.
Nora turned around, expressionless, and left the manor.
Outside, after a recent rain, the ground was damp, with no moonlight in the sky.
The cold, damp air hit her face, mirroring Nora's current mood.
After standing for a while, she got into her car and drove back to the Hamilton family.
The drive helped calm Nora's emotions bit by bit.
Now, sitting in the car, she didn't get out immediately but forced herself to calm down, thinking of her relationship with Aaron in her mind.
From their first meeting to the recent events, she couldn't believe Aaron would be a playboy.
In her mind, Aaron was a cold, proud, and upright gentleman.
Apart from his slight interest in her, Aaron had no improper behavior towards women.
Except for four years ago, when he spent a night with Sunny.
But that was four years ago.
Since they met, he had been virtuous. But suddenly, he had become so dissolute, not like his usual self.
This change happened after Aaron had an accident in Highty City.
Nora gripped the steering wheel tightly, staring into the dark night, lips pressed together.
A concussion wouldn't change one's nature. But Aaron seemed like a completely different person now.
A thought burst into her mind again, 'The current Aaron might not be the real Aaron!'
With this realization, Nora's heart pounded fiercely.
She recalled Aaron's abnormal behavior carefully since the accident, strengthening her belief.
The Aaron living in the Whispering Pines Manor might not be Aaron at all!
But if he wasn't Aaron, then where was the real Aaron?
At this moment, in a place called Starhaven, there was a minority group known as Lumirians.
The population here was around ten thousand people, known for their unique cultural customs.
They still maintained a matrilineal society.
Women held higher status than men.
In a house, a young woman in her twenties sat by the bed, feeding medicine to a man lying unconscious on the large bed.
The woman wore blue clothing with a blue headscarf adorned with long tassels and ornaments like agate and Sandyl, which was a traditional attire of the minority group.
The man on the bed, handsome with a tall stature, exuded a cold, noble air even in his unconscious state.
This man was the real Aaron.
"He's been unconscious for three days, so he should wake up soon." The woman who fed him the medicine placed the bowl aside and gently wiped the medicine stains from Aaron's mouth with a few tissues.
At that moment, another woman entered the room.
"Seraphina, has he woken up?" The newcomer was Elara Everhart, bearing an identical face to Seraphina Everhart.
The two were twin sisters.
Seraphina was Elara's younger sister.
Though they looked alike, their temperaments were vastly different.
One gentle, the other willful.
"He hasn't woken up yet," Seraphina replied.
"I thought he would wake up tonight; why hasn't he?" Elara walked to the bedside, looking displeased.
"His fever has subsided; he should wake up soon," Seraphina said.
Elara gazed at Aaron on the bed. "He's quite handsome. When he wakes up, I'll marry him."
According to local tradition,,after marriage, a man was expected to reside with his wife's family and raise the next generation, becoming a live-in son-in-law.
"I wonder who he is; maybe he already has a girl he fancies?" Seraphina hesitated.
Elara scoffed, "Once he's here, he must respect me. I've set my sights on him; he's lucky to have me for his lifetime."
Seraphina opened her mouth to speak but hesitated.
Inadvertently, she saw Aaron's eyelids twitch.
Excitedly, Seraphina said, "Elara, he seems to be waking up; I saw his eyelids move."
As she spoke, Aaron slowly opened his eyes.
Just waking up, he looked around with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
"You're finally awake. Can you hear me?" Elara waved her hand in front of Aaron, speaking arrogantly.
Aaron's gaze lingered on Seraphina and Elara for a few seconds, looking at the two identical faces before his scattered thoughts gradually cleared.
He had been saved.
Some images flashed through his mind.
On the way to the Highty City resort, Aaron noticed something wrong with the car.
The brake system seemed to have malfunctioned, and he faintly heard the sound of an explosion before the bomb went off.
Realizing the danger, he opened the car door quickly and jumped out before it crashed into the barrier.
Just as Aaron rolled to the side, he heard the car explode.
He was just a hair's breadth away from being blown to pieces.
At that moment of impact, Aaron felt lucky to be alive.
But when he saw a car stop by the roadside and several people getting out, he knew something was amiss.
Three people got out of the car. Two of them seemed to be black-clad bodyguards. One of the bodyguards held a gun, aiming to finish him off!
But what shocked him the most was the man walking in the middle of the three, who looked exactly like him!
The man smiled and walked towards him, making Aaron feel like he was looking in a mirror!
