Chapter 555 Don't Like the Current Billy
At the Hamilton Manor.
After dinner, Nora went upstairs to check on Kenneth. She first went to his bedside, held his hand, and began to talk softly, trying to wake him up.
Nora said, "Kenneth, I went to see Sandy. But she refused to come back and even scarred her face. She said it was to atone for her sins. Now we can only wait for you to wake up and bring her back."
She continued, "Sandy is really pitiful. She's living alone in such a poor place, and in a few months, she will give birth to your baby. Can you really bear to let her stay there to give birth?"
Nora added, "Please wake up soon."
The man in a coma showed no reaction. Nora hoped that by talking to him, she could stimulate his brain.
Although a person in a vegetative state has no consciousness, their cerebral cortex is still active. He could hear the outside world, and maybe one day he would suddenly wake up.
Nora talked for a while longer, then covered Kenneth with a blanket and left the room. Kenneth lay quietly, but his little finger moved slightly.
As Nora left Kenneth's room and was about to return to her bedroom, she saw Aaron coming upstairs. After dinner, Ebenezer had called him to the study to discuss some matters. Why hadn't he left yet?
Nora asked, "You haven't left yet?"
Aaron walked up to her, pulled her into his arms, and said, "Do you really want me to leave?"
Nora laughed, and remarked, "No. It's already very late. Aren't you going back?"
"I'm staying at your house tonight," Aaron said.
Really?
Nora blinked her eyes, puzzled, and said, "Did my parents agree to let you stay?"
Aaron narrowed his eyes slightly, turned her around, and pressed her against the wall, kissing her rosy lips.
He said, "Don't you want me to stay?"
Nora smiled and said, "No. I just asked casually."
Aaron said, "Your dad agreed. But your mom..."
Before he finished speaking, Emma arrived. Emma came up to the third floor, glaring fiercely at them, or rather, at Aaron alone, as if he had stolen something from her.
Aaron said, "Aunt Emma."
"The guest room is on the second floor. Why are you on the third floor?" Emma said and walked past him coldly.
"I came to see Kenneth," Aaron found an excuse.
Emma glanced at him and ignored him, turning to Nora, "Nora, come to my room. I haven't chatted with Alex and Billy today."
"Okay," Nora agreed and stifled a laugh, ignoring Aaron's gaze, and linked arms with Emma, walking to her room.
Aaron sighed helplessly. When would his beloved belong to him alone?
In the room, Emma first video called Alex. Nora sat beside her, feeling a bit guilty as she looked at Alex's delicate features.
However, Alex seemed to be adapting well to the Jones family, enthusiastically answering Emma's questions.
"Alex, is anyone bullying you there?" Emma asked.
"No," Alex replied.
Emma nodded and said, "If anyone bullies you, you must tell us, okay?"
"I know, Grandmom." Alex said, "Only the weak get bullied. Don't worry, I'm strong."
Hearing his confident words, Emma couldn't help but laugh.
Emma said, "You really are a Hamilton. But the Jones family is so mean."
Seeing Emma about to start scolding again, Nora quickly stopped her.
Nora reminded, "Mom, stop it."
Erin was sitting beside them. She had just lost Matthew, and Matthew had saved her. They couldn't be so heartless as to scold his family. They should be the ones being scolded.
"You and Erin went to school today, right?" Emma said and quickly changed the topic.
"No. We have private tutors at home," Alex replied.
The Jones family treated him and Erin as elites, so they wouldn't attend regular kindergarten like other kids. They started at a much higher level than other children.
"Are you tired?" Emma asked.
Alex replied, "Not really."
Emma advised, "If you get tired, don't push yourself. You and Erin are still young. Health is the most important thing. Understand?"
Alex replied, "I understand."
Emma gave a few more instructions, and Nora also chatted with Erin for a bit. Although Erin had lost her father, she was slowly coming out of her sadness with Alex by her side.
However, she had reverted to her previous state, only speaking occasionally when talking to Alex.
Nora knew that Matthew's death had hit Erin hard. They could only try to guide her slowly.
After chatting with Alex, Emma video called Billy.
Since finding out that Alex would stay at the Jones Manor, Billy, Samantha, and Millie had been somewhat dejected, especially Billy and Samantha.
After all, the triplets had grown up together and had never been apart. Now they were separated, and they were very sad.
Fortunately, Alex had told Billy to take on the responsibility of protecting his two sisters and to tell him if anything happened. This made them gradually happier.
Now Billy, imitating Alex, acted very cool all the time. In this video chat with Emma, he didn't smile at all. He really looked like Alex.
Emma looked at him and asked, "Billy, were you bullied at school today?"
Knowing that the triplets were her biological grandchildren, Emma no longer disliked them. Instead, she hoped they would be safe and healthy. So now she was most concerned about whether the children were bullied at school.
"No," Billy replied.
"Then why do you look so unhappy?" Emma asked in confusion.
Billy said, "I'm not unhappy."
Samantha, beside him, explained, "Grandmom, Billy isn't unhappy. He's imitating Alex."
Emma said, "Really?"
"Yes. He thinks that only by doing this can he have authority and keep us in line," Samantha said.
Emma couldn't help but laugh, "So that's it."
"Yes," Millie echoed, "Grandmom, can you make Billy go back to how he was? I don't like him like this!"
