Chapter 952 Like a Sulking Lover
Gabriella placed a piece of fish on Johnie's plate.
"Why aren't you eating? Aaron and Nora will be fine," Gabriella whispered.
Johnnie looked at her, feeling unsure again.
'Are they overthinking it?'
'Is Gabriella up to something?'
He didn't want to think badly of people, especially Gabriella.
He'd rather believe he was just being paranoid.
After the meal, Nora didn't look at Aaron but asked Johnnie, "Got any plans for tonight?"
Johnnie replied, "There's a fireworks show, and we've got singers and dancers for Mateo."
Nora nodded and told Mateo, "Rest up in your room, then come out for the show."
Mateo asked, "Nora, will you stay to watch with me?"
Nora replied, "Of course, I'll be with you."
Mateo smiled brightly. "Alright, I'll rest and contact you later."
"Okay, go ahead."
Mateo glanced at Aaron, his tone cold. "Aaron, I'm going to my room."
Aaron stayed stern and silent.
Johnnie signaled Mateo's servants to follow him, and a grand procession headed to the guest rooms.
Nora glanced at Aaron and said, "Let's go too."
Aaron didn't respond, striding ahead, acting like a sulking lover.
Nora found it amusing, thinking Aaron's acting was convincing. If they hadn't agreed on it beforehand, she might have been genuinely upset.
"Nora, Mr. Gordon is really jealous," Gabriella said, linking arms with her.
"Let him be. I don't care," Nora mocked.
Gabriella said, "Don't get angry, it might affect your pregnancy."
Nora snorted, "With him acting like this, who knows...?"
She stopped abruptly.
Gabriella's heart skipped a beat. "Nora, you wouldn't be considering divorcing Aaron, would you?"
Nora sighed, "I should stay away from men if I want a long life. If he really angers me, I'll divorce him and raise the kids alone."
Gabriella felt a surge of joy but said, "Nora, don't say that. Mr. Gordon is just jealous; he didn't do anything wrong"
Nora shook her head, "His love is suffocating. Whoever wants it can have it."
Gabriella laughed, "Nora, if someone tried to take Mr. Gordon from you, would you still say that?"
Nora raised an eyebrow, "I'd like to see who could take him from me."
She gave Gabriella a meaningful look.
"Maybe it's because I have no rivals that my marriage with Aaron feels so dull."
Gabriella's eyes flickered, "Nora, have you ever had a rival in love?"
Nora retorted, "What do you think?"
Gabriella said, "A man like Mr. Gordon must have many admirers."
"Yes, many."
Nora's eyes sparkled. "If I hadn't shown up, he might have married my sister."
She meant Suzy, right?
Gabriella's breath hitched. Pretending not to know, she asked, "your sister?"
"Yes," Nora nodded. "She was the famous actress Suzy, my parents' adopted daughter who saved Aaron when he was younger. If she hadn't died, who knows what would have happened?"
At the mention of Suzy's death, a flash of pain crossed Gabriella's eyes. She took a deep breath, still smiling.
"Suzy had so many identities but couldn't keep Mr. Gordon's heart. Seems your charm is greater."
Nora shook her head. "It's not my charm, it's Suzy's impure heart. Bad people never have good endings."
Nora's words were loaded. Gabriella's eyes flickered, and she unconsciously tightened her grip on Nora's arm.
Nora glanced at her, saying deliberately, "You know, the first time I saw you, I thought you looked a lot like Suzy."
Gabriella's eyes flickered again. "Really?"
"Yes," Nora continued. "You and Aaron are so close, I even suspected you were Suzy, back for revenge after plastic surgery."
Gabriella laughed. "Nora, you're thinking too wildly."
Nora laughed too. "Well, Aaron is handsome. Good thing you have Johnnie, otherwise, I wouldn't be so at ease."
Gabriella lowered her eyes slightly, thank godness she had the foresight to use Johnnie as a cover.
"Nora, you worry about this and that all the time, isn't it exhausting?"
"Yes, being married to Aaron is mentally exhausting," Nora sighed as they entered the guest room area.
Johnnie was waiting for them. "Mrs. Gordon, Mr. Gordon has already gone to the luxury suite on the top floor."
Nora nodded. "Where is Mateo staying?"
Johnnie replied, "He's in another luxury suite on the top floor."
"Alright, got it."
They entered the elevator. Gabriella asked, "Nora, why are you asking where Mateo is staying? Planning a late-night chat?"
Nora looked at the reflection in the elevator wall, noncommittal. "Maybe."
Gabriella laughed. "Aren't you afraid Mr. Gordon will kill you?"
Nora snorted, "I'd like to see him try."
Gabriella's eyes flickered. "Nora, it seems Mateo has feelings for you..."
Nora's expression turned serious. "Don't talk nonsense, I'm just his sister."
Gabriella linked arms with her, acting intimate. "Nora, we're just talking privately. He clealy has feelings for you."
Johnnie's gaze shot over from the side. Gabriella glanced at him, smiling. "Johnnie, what do you think?"
Johnnie looked away, expressionless. "Ms. Costa, please refrain from making such jokes in private as well."
His tone was cold, and Gabriella was slightly taken aback. Johnnie had always been serious, but he had never spoken to her so coldly.
She thought, 'Why is his tone suddenly so cold now?'
'Is it because I offended Aaron?'
'We are dating, but he called me Ms. Costa?'
Did they have to be so distant?
The elevator reached the nineteenth floor, and Johnnie handed a room card to Gabriella. "This is your room card, please keep it."
