Chapter 1031 Sky After the Rain

Randy stood there, looking dazed and regretful about the accident and the baby.

"Dad, Gabriella's more heartbroken than I am," Johnnie said, bringing her up.

"As a mom, she carried the baby. It came and went so fast, she's devastated. But she didn't say anything to me because she didn't want to hurt me more."

Randy's chest heaved. "Who hurt my grandson?"

Johnnie's face darkened. "It was a local big shot. He targeted us to get back at me and Gabriella. We're both victims."

Randy looked at him. "How did you cross such a big shot? Did you call the police?"

Johnnie replied, "Don't worry, Mr. Gordon will handle it."

Randy stopped insisting on breaking up Johnnie and Gabriella. He glanced at Aaron and Nora, standing silently nearby, and awkwardly stood up. "Mr. Gordon, Mrs. Gordon, sorry for causing a scene today."

Aaron smiled. "Don't worry about it. I'm a father too, I get it. It's all for our kids."

Randy nodded. "Yes, Mr. Gordon is so understanding. No wonder Johnnie always says he respects and admires you the most."

There was some flattery, but it was also true.

Aaron smiled at Johnnie on the bed. "Johnnie is one of my best assistants. I've always treated him as a friend. Don't worry, I'll keep his situation in mind, and Nora will do her best to treat him."

"Thank you on behalf of Johnnie," Randy said gratefully.

Aaron waved it off and exchanged a few pleasantries.

Nora looked at Johnnie on the bed, a slight smile on her lips. She thought, 'Johnnie really knows how to handle people. His recent words left Randy stunned. He has genuine feelings, but there's some exaggeration. Johnnie would never resort to self-harm. Randy is just too worried.'

Next door, Gabriella had taken a nap but couldn't sleep well, worried about Johnnie.

After waking up, she found no one beside her and immediately went to check on Johnnie.

Johnnie was resting with his eyes closed, not wearing his hearing aid.

The ward was empty, and Gabriella didn't know what had happened. She also didn't know if Susan had given up on Johnnie.

Gabriella sat by the bed and tucked him in.

Randy, coming out of the bathroom, saw Gabriella sitting quietly, staring at Johnnie.

Thinking about her recent miscarriage, Randy frowned. "Why are you here? Go back to your ward and rest."

Hearing his voice, Gabriella quickly stood up, worried the problem wasn't solved yet. Randy still disliked her.

Gabriella gathered her thoughts. "Randy, I'm worried about Johnnie, so I came to check on him. Don't worry, I don't have any other intentions. I just want to see him. He can't hear or see right now; he must feel very lonely and lost. I just want to talk to him."

Randy frowned. "I know you're worried about Johnnie, but you just had a miscarriage. You need to take care of yourself first."

Gabriella was stunned, thinking, 'Randy knows about my miscarriage? Is he actually concerned about me?'

Her emotions stirred. "Randy."

"Alright, you don't need to say more. Didn't you say you just want to talk to Johnnie? Do it later," Randy said, waving his hand.

The surprise left Gabriella momentarily speechless.

Randy added, "Don't just stand there, go back to your ward and rest."

Gabriella snapped out of it. "I'm fine. Randy, thank you for allowing this. Don't worry, I'll take good care of Johnnie."

Randy looked at her, recalling their first meeting. Back then, Gabriella seemed too flamboyant for a long-term relationship. Now, she seemed much more gentle and polite.

Randy thought, 'She probably loves Johnnie very much. Maybe this is fate.'

He sighed. "Alright, since you're here, I'll go out and buy some things."

He was giving them some alone time. Gabriella felt excited. After Randy left, she climbed onto Johnnie's bed.

Resting her head on his shoulder, she wrapped her arms around his waist, looking content.

Johnnie had sensed her presence when she tucked him in but hadn't fully woken up. Now, with all the movement, he was completely awake. Although he couldn't see, Johnnie slowly opened his eyes.

He reached out to feel for Gabriella. "Gabriella?"

Gabriella put the hearing aid on him and smiled. "Yes, it's me."

Johnnie asked, "Why are you here again? Where's my dad? Didn't he chase you away?"

"No, he said I should take care of you from now on," Gabriella replied.

"Really?" Johnnie smiled. "Are you happy now?"

"Yes, I'm happy," Gabriella said, genuinely pleased.

She thought it would take a lot of effort and time to convince Randy and Vilma to accept her. But Randy accepted her in just a few hours. It seemed he was quite reasonable.

"But I'm not happy," Johnnie suddenly said.

Gabriella snapped back. "Why?"

Johnnie said, "I'm a useless person now. How can I be happy?"

Gabriella looked at his handsome face and squeezed his hand. "Not even happy being with me?"

"Not really," Johnnie said.

"Why?"

"Because I'm too weak now. I'll become a burden to you."

Gabriella felt both sad and tender. She didn't cry but instead joked, "You talk as if you were very powerful before. If I wanted to marry someone powerful, I wouldn't have been with you."

Johnnie frowned. "Was I that weak before?"

Gabriella smiled. "Well, you weren't very strong either."

Johnnie didn't say anything.

Gabriella pinched his face and laughed. "Not happy?"

Johnnie chuckled. "Which man would be happy being called weak?"

Gabriella leaned in and kissed his lips. "Don't be unhappy. I like you just the way you are."

Johnnie frowned again. "I have my pride too. Being called weak, are you sure you're not trying to provoke me?"

Hearing him talk, Gabriella suddenly felt much better. The situation felt like the sky after the rain, becoming wonderful again.

Although Johnnie had become deaf and blind, he hadn't given up. He was still the steady and reliable man she loved.
