Chapter 593 Not Because She Liked Howard
Evella's eyes flickered as she poked at the dishes in front of her; she said, "I don't know."
She felt like Howard might like her a bit, but he never confessed.
She didn't want to be presumptuous.
Besides, she didn't want a boyfriend either.
So, it would be best if Howard didn't develop feelings for her.
"Do you like Howard then?" Richard asked again.
Evella's curled eyelashes trembled slightly; she didn't answer directly but said, "I don't want a boyfriend for now."
Richard looked at her, saying, "Do you not want a boyfriend, or do you not want to be with Howard?"
Evella bit her red lips and said, "Both. Love is really too troublesome."
Just look at what she had just been through. She was just pretending to be a couple with Howard, and she was already under attack from other women.
If she and Howard became a real couple in the future, who knew how many women would be jealous of her?
It was too much trouble! She just wanted to aim low and avoid disappointment.
"I understand. If you don't want a boyfriend, then don't pretend to be a couple with Dr. Hamilton anymore to avoid trouble," Richard said.
Evella raised her gaze, hesitated for a moment, and said, "But Howard was almost framed because of me, and I promised to pretend to be a couple with him; I can't go back on my word."
"I'm not asking you to go back on your word," Richard said, "No one says that dating must lead to marriage; if you think you and Howard are not suitable, you can break up."
This made sense, too. But she still felt a little guilty and uneasy.
Evella bit her lip and remained silent.
Richard raised an eyebrow and said, "Or is it that you don't want to break up with Dr. Hamilton? Do you like him?"
"No!" Evella quickly denied it and then came up with a reason. "It's just that my grandma already knows that Howard and I are dating. If she finds out we broke up, she will definitely make me go on blind dates again. I don't want to go on blind dates all the time!"
That was the reason.
The reason she didn't want to break up with Howard was definitely not because she liked him.
It was because she didn't want to go on blind dates that she didn't want to break up with Howard!
"You don't need to worry about that; I will talk to Mrs. Remington," Richard said, "Mrs. Remington is probably worried that after she dies, there will be no one to take care of you, so she's eager for you to get married. But now that I've found you, I will take care of you in the future, so she doesn't need to worry."
Hearing Richard's words, Evella felt warm inside. But when she thought of Howard, she opened her mouth to say something. But in the end, she said nothing and ate in silence.
"After we finish eating, take me to meet Elizabeth," Richard said.
Evella paused for a moment and agreed.
Meanwhile, Nora and Howard returned home.
Howard had a stern face, his brows furrowed.
He tried to call Richard again, but he still didn't answer.
What did Richard want?
"Mom, we're back." Nora saw Emma sitting on the sofa and walked over.
"I know." Emma's expression wasn't very happy, because she had just talked to Nicole on the phone and learned about what happened at the birthday party, she couldn't be satisfied.
She had intended for Howard and Rachel to bond at the birthday party, but Howard directly rejected the Romeros family's goodwill.
However, Howard didn't need to understand her intentions.
"Mom, is there any food? I'm so hungry," Nora patted her stomach and said in a cutesy way.
Emma raised her hand and pointed at her forehead, saying, "Look at you two, going to a birthday party but coming back hungry!"
Although her words sounded like a scolding, there was a hint of tenderness in them.
After scolding them, she instructed the servants to serve dinner to Richard and Nora.
Nora patted her forehead, and hugged Emma's arm with a silly smile.
Emma glared at her, then saw Howard looking distracted and said displeasedly, "Howard, why do you come back with a gloomy face? Is it because you didn't get along well with Evella?"
Howard glanced at Emma, feeling somewhat helpless and annoyed. He said, "Mom, I'm not hungry. You go ahead and eat. I'll go upstairs first."
Howard just wanted to know where Richard had taken Evella! He didn't want to hear any nonsense from anyone.
Emma watched Howard go upstairs, furrowing her brows and saying, "Look at him; I knew Evella wasn't good! Richard and she just started dating, and Richard is already getting impatient with me. If they get married, I'll have to live under her shadow all day."
At this moment, Emma couldn't help but think of Sandy.
Since Sandy married Kenneth, she had always been obedient and respectful. She treated Kenneth well and was respectful to her, too.
Kenneth never made her feel inferior because of Sandy.
What was wrong with her? She actually started to miss Sandy.
Sandy was a jinx!
None of them lived up to Emma's satisfaction.
The only one who suited her, Nora, was going to get married and leave her.
It was so frustrating.
"Mom, you're worrying again; come, let's have dinner together," Nora pulled Emma up and said.
Emma glanced at her and said, "Nora, why don't you just let Aaron be a live-in son-in-law?"
Nora was taken aback, somewhat amused, saying, "Mom, I haven't gotten married yet."
Emma pursed her lips and said, "You're also a heartless little one. You must find me nagging, right?"
"Not at all!" Nora laughed and led Emma to sit at the dining table.
The servants brought the food to the table.
At that moment, Nora's phone received a video call request.
She glanced at it; it was from Billy.
Nora answered the call. Millie, Billy, and Samantha's small figures appeared on the screen.
"Mommy." Millie, Billy, and Samantha's clear, childish voices sounded, instantly dispelling the fatigue of the day.
Nora smiled and said, "What are you guys doing?"
Samantha spoke first, "Mommy, are you silly? Of course, we're calling you!"
Nora was speechless.
Samantha seemed to be in a particularly good mood today, actually teasing her!
Nora looked behind them. They were indoors.
"How was your day at kindergarten today?" Nora asked.
Billy looked at Samantha and handed her the tablet, saying, "You tell Mommy."
Nora blinked at Billy's actions and asked, "Is everything okay?"
Only those who had been mothers would understand; she couldn't help worrying that something might have happened to her children when she was not around. So, when Billy asked Samantha to talk to her, her heart skipped a beat.
"Mommy, today the music teacher said my voice is very nice and even taught me some vocal techniques; I'll sing for you now." Samantha's childish voice rang out.
So, that was what she wanted to tell her.
Nora sighed in relief and said, "Okay, Samantha, go ahead and sing."
"Mommy, you enjoy her singing. Billy and I are going to play first," Millie said, grabbed Billy, and ran off suddenly.
