Chapter 413 Giving Them a Chance to Be Alone
"Howard, who's the girl inside? Do I know her?" The assistant peeked into the room.
He had just graduated this year, being Howard's junior and assistant.
He knew Howard had always been virtuous, never engaging in sexual relationships.
Thus, this was the first time he saw him bringing a woman to a hotel.
Moreover, Howard even asked him to bring a medical kit over; it seemed like things between them were intense.
"Don't be nosy and go quickly." Howard threw him the car keys.
The assistant caught them and laughed, "Still keeping it a secret, huh? What size does she wear?"
"Hehe, we're both men here, Howard; having sexual desires is normal. If it's not my sister-in-law sleeping inside, could it be your lover?" he teased, winking at Howard.
Howard glared at him, "If you keep yapping, you won't get your year-end bonus!"
With that, the assistant immediately quieted down.
"No, no, I was wrong. So, what size should I buy?"
After thinking for a moment, Howard gave him a series of numbers.
The assistant noted them down one by one and teased, "You seem to know her figure very well."
Howard glanced at him and said, "I'm a doctor; I can tell just by looking."
"Of course, since you're Howard. Whatever you say makes sense. Anyway, I'll go buy it immediately!" his assistant chuckled and walked away.
This guy was even more curious than a woman.
Howard closed the door and sighed deeply.
The room was quiet now. He looked at the woman lying peacefully on the bed, one leg exposed and heat emanating from her body.
He quickly told himself to calm down.
Wasn't she just a patient?
He had dealt with female patients before, so what was he even thinking about?
Could it be he had feelings for her?
No!
He was a doctor; he should understand anatomy better.
It was only because since he had been single for too long, his body easily reacted to a woman's presence.
Howard silently reassured himself in his mind, the boiling heat inside him gradually cooling down.
The assistant quickly returned, handing him clothes and a medical kit.
"Thanks," Howard thanked him.
The assistant persistently asked, "Howard, who exactly is the girl inside?"
The answer he got was the sound of a door slamming shut.
He rubbed his almost bumped nose and left in frustration.
Inside the room, Howard approached the bed with the medical kit. He looked over the woman's fair and slender legs, his calm heart skipping a beat.
He took a deep breath, steadied his mind, and opened the medical kit. Taking out a stethoscope, he carefully examined her.
Fortunately, she didn't have any internal injuries, only soft tissue contusions.
He put the medical tools away before taking out an ointment for her wounds.
Evella's long eyelashes flutter slightly, as if she was about to wake up.
Howard was afraid she'd cause trouble after waking up, so he quickly tapped her gently and whispered, "Be good and sleep. It won't hurt anymore when you wake up."
Perhaps it was his gentle tone, but her trembling eyelashes relaxed again as she obediently kept her eyes closed. Then, she turned over and reached out to hold his arm.
Howard was taken aback by her delicate face rubbing against his arm. She then fell asleep peacefully, and something seemed to spark in his heart.
Her peaceful sleeping face, without crying or making noise, resembled a well-fed sleeping kitten; a bit charming and adorable.
His eyes were filled with softness, with him unconsciously reaching out and touching her silky hair.
This woman was even more adorable when she slept.
At the restaurant, Aaron's dinner party came to an end.
Nora had two drinks and was slightly tipsy.
Aaron hugged her, getting into Noe's car while instructing Frederick to return on his own.
Frederick obeyed and drove away alone.
Noe started the car. "Mr. Gordon, should we go back to the mansion now?"
Aaron was about to answer, but Nora patted her flushed cheeks and said, "Thomas, don't forget we have to pick Evella up."
Hearing this, he raised an eyebrow, "Aren't you acting as a matchmaker? Let's not pick her up and give them a chance to be alone tonight."
She hesitated, "Is that a good idea?"
She then blinked. "Is it really okay to let them stay in a hotel overnight?"
"Nora, Howard took her to the hotel himself; he'd have to take responsibility for his actions," Aaron said.
She thought for a moment, "But it seems like they both dislike each other right now. What if they blame me for meddling?"
He squeezed her hand. "Don't worry, I've got your back. Who'd dare to blame you?"
He smiled indulgently and then instructed Noe to drive.
Nora wasn't good at drinking, so she felt dizzy at the moment.
Seeing Aaron's response, she decided not to care and simply leaned against him to rest.
Noe drove steadily. When they arrived at the mansion, Nora was still asleep.
Only when Noe's phone rang did she wake up.
Aaron's eyebrows furrowed as he glanced at Noe disapprovingly, blaming him for waking her up.
Noe smiled sheepishly, "Sorry, Mr. Gordon. It's from the police station."
It was his mistake not to put his phone on silent beforehand.
To not disturb his CEO's girlfriend, Noe got out of the car to take the call. Seeing Nora with sleepy eyes, Aaron prepared to leave the car. He softly said, "It's cold outside, and you just woke up. Don't get out; let me carry you inside."
The car door then closed, a gust of cold wind blowing in and waking Nora up slightly.
She smiled, "No need, it's not good if Grandpa sees."
However, he had already left the car and reached out his hand to her, "What's wrong with that? He was young once, as well. Besides, it's late now; he must be asleep."
She was fully awake now and laughed, "Stop messing around; I want to take a walk before going in."
She got out of the car by herself and then directly entered his embrace.
He smirked, tightly wrapping his black coat around her.
The winter night felt especially cold, and the heat by the people dispersed slowly under the streetlights.
Aaron held Nora in his arms and looked down at her, "Are you cold?"
She looked up at him and smiled, "With you as my heater, how could I be?"
Despite her words, she took in a breath of cold air and shivered involuntarily.
He chuckled and held her tighter as if wanting to embed her into his own body.
Noe finished the call and saw the two of them standing outside in the cold wind, amused.
On such a cold day, wouldn't it be nicer if they just went inside and blew the air conditioner?
'What's there to see at the sky here? Being single, I really can't understand.'
He complained to himself before reporting over to Aaron.
