Chapter 312 The Biological Daughter Understands After All
Ebenezer's words resounded with authority.
The room fell into eerie silence.
As the head of the household, Ebenezer was usually composed and rarely lost his temper.
Even though he was inherently dignified, once he became angry, it would send shivers down anyone's spine.
Suzy was frightened by his harsh words, and her eyes immediately reddened.
"Dad, is it because I'm not your biological daughter that you're treating me this way? I get it, I'll just get married then!" she exclaimed.
All her life, this adoptive father had always doted on her. But since Nora appeared, just look at how he treated her!
As expected, people could be cold creatures. Now that he'd found his real daughter, this replacement no longer held any value! Tears running down her face, Suzy ran upstairs.
Emma called out, "Suzy!" Watching the scene unfold, her chest heaved with emotion.
Ebenezer was furious with his daughter. "Why are you losing your temper with her? Even if she's at fault, it's understandable. After all, it was Aaron who betrayed her trust first. He's the one who wronged Suzy."
Aaron's eyebrows knitted at the mention of his name. How could he have been ungrateful first? Suzy did save him, but she never demanded him to marry her, right? Since Emma was an elder, he held his tongue.
Ebenezer's face darkened, "Emma, you can't always take Suzy's side like this. Her behavior is unacceptable, partly because you spoil her too much!"
Emma sneered, "She's my daughter, and I'll spoil her if I want! Ebenezer, are you so eager to marry her off to make room for your daughter?
"I'll lay it out here and now; if you want Suzy to marry, you'll have to find someone who will make her happy. Otherwise, I'd rather support her for the rest of her life!"
"You..." Ebenezer was about to answer back.
"Enough, Mom and Dad," Kenneth interjected, seeing her parents on the verge of another argument. "This is Nora's first time coming over for dinner. Let's not embarrass ourselves, shall we? She's going to be starving if we don't start eating soon."
Sandy chimed in, "Yeah, Dad, let's take it easy and have some dinner first."
Ebenezer toned his anger down and glanced at Nora, softening slightly. "Nora, you must be hungry. Let's go have dinner."
Nora curved her lips into a smile, "Sure."
Nora saw the protection her father offered and felt warmth in her heart. Although reluctant to admit it, she did enjoy this fatherly affection.
They all took their seats in the dining room, with Emma settling down as well. Seeing her husband fuss over Nora, she felt an unpleasant twinge in her heart.
"Please serve some food to the lady upstairs. Don't let her starve," Emma said to the servant, referring to Suzy.
Ebenezer didn't concern himself with Emma's mood and continued to look after Nora. "Nora, eat up. I asked the chef to prepare these dishes to your taste."
"Thank you, you too," Nora responded with a warm smile and served him some food.
Ebenezer's mood had visibly improved since the start of the meal.
Emma watched the affectionate display between father and daughter, feeling the weight of her displeasure. After a few bites, she lost her appetite, set down her utensils, and announced, "I'm going upstairs to check on Suzy."
Ebenezer glanced at his daughter, wanting to say something. Nora promptly refilled his soup and offered him a soothing smile.
Ebenezer knew that his daughter didn't want him to quarrel with his wife over her. He couldn't help but sigh softly in his heart.
She was such an understanding child.
Meanwhile, in Suzy's bedroom up on the third floor…
Suzy was so furious, she had the urge to smash everything in the room. But she kept her wits about her and didn't act on impulse. Instead, she ferociously threw the sofa's throw pillows around.
After venting her frustration, she plopped down on the couch, replaying the scene that had just unfolded.
Aaron had told her that Sunny confessed to him about the news story. Damn that Sunny, had she really betrayed her? How could she still have the audacity to ask her for favors?
At that thought, Suzy picked up her phone and dialed Sunny's number.
The call connected, but nobody picked up. With a scowl, Suzy continued to call.
This time someone answered.
A woman's voice came through the receiver and said, "Miss Hamilton, are you looking for Sunny? She’s busy right now."
It must be Sunny's assistant.
Suzy snapped, "What’s she so preoccupied with? Put her on the phone!"
"Miss Hamilton, Sunny is in the studio shooting a commercial. If you need something, you can tell me, and I’ll relay the message to her later," said the assistant courteously.
Suzy narrowed her eyes, "She's shooting a commercial? What endorsement did she land?"
"Yes, Sunny is currently shooting a luxury ad campaign for the Gordon's family Group."
Sunny was doing an ad for Gordon's family Group? Could it be a deal Aaron gave her?
Why would that happen? Was it because Sunny confessed about the news story, and now Aaron was rewarding her? That treacherous woman, seeking glory at the expense of her loyalty!
Suzy's face clouded with rage, "Tell her to call me back as soon as she’s done!"
"Okay, Miss Hamilton, just a moment. Sunny is coming out now," the assistant replied.
Suzy waited grimly for a while before she finally heard Sunny's voice on the line, saying, "Miss Hamilton, are you calling to offer me a deal?"
Upon hearing these words, Suzy let out a cold scoff.
"Sunny, you have the nerve to ask me for resources? You betray me to gain Aaron's favor, and now you want to play both sides?" she scoffed.
Sunny was taken aback and asked, "When did I betray you?"
"The audacity to deny it! If you didn't betray me, how did Aaron come to offer you resources?" Suzy seethed with anger.
Sunny furrowed her brows. Though she didn't understand what was happening, she no longer had the patience to argue with her.
"Fine, I betrayed you, are you happy now? If you're not willing to share your resources, then forget it. I don't need them because Mr. Gordon is now supporting me," Sunny declared with defiance.
Suzy was infuriated by her arrogance.
"Sunny, I can't believe you'd burn your bridges like this! You think I won't tell Aaron about the little stunt you pulled four years ago, impersonating Nora?" Suzy threatened.
Sunny 's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly regained her composure.
"Miss Hamilton, don't try to intimidate me. If you're so brave, go tell Mr. Gordon! Once he knows that Nora is the mother of his three children, just imagine how he'll dote on her! Nora’s standing in the Gordon family will skyrocket! After that, you and Mr. Gordon will have no chance at all!" she stated.
Suzy's face contorted with displeasure.
Her recent threat to Sunny was just an empty one, of course. She'd never actually tell Aaron that the woman he slept with four years ago was Nora.
That the three children Nora had were his biological offsprings.
That would be like adding flowers to Nora's already splendid garland!
Why would she do such a thing to herself?
"Miss Hamilton, is there anything else? I'm quite busy. I’ve got to run to another engagement soon, so if there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now," Sunny remarked.
After she said her piece and ended the call without a trace of the respect she used to have for Suzy.
Suzy’s face twisted in rage, and she felt a surge of frustration boiling up to her forehead. Unable to contain herself, she hurled her phone violently forward.
At that moment, coincidentally, the bedroom door swung open. Emma walked in. The phone struck her shoulder with a sudden force, causing her to cry out in pain.
