Chapter 243 Oblivious Affections
The next day, Quinn had been awake for some time, pretended to be asleep. Opening her beautiful eyes, she saw Baldwin's shocked expression and couldn't help but feel amused, though she managed to conceal it on her face.
"Baldwin, why that look?" she asked.
Baldwin swallowed hard. "Quinn, I drank too much last night. Nothing happened between us, right?" he asked anxiously. He couldn't remember anything beyond going to their appointment, matching her in shots, and then being pulled out to have fun until he faced harassers. After that, his memory was blank.
"Do you think a man who got drunk and spent a night in the same room with a woman would have nothing happen?" Quinn teased as she sat up, with the blanket just barely covering her chest, revealing her snow-white skin underneath.
In the morning’s soft yellow light, the patchy marks on her white skin were unmistakable and told a story of their own. Baldwin swallowed hard, Adam's apple bobbing with difficulty, and his heart was sinking bit by bit. Was it possible he really slept with her last night?
"Quinn, I had too much to drink last night. I'm sorry." After he said this, he hurried to find his clothes but couldn't find them anywhere.
Observing his frantic expression, Quinn leaned in with sparkling eyes, "A simple apology, that's it? Aren't you going to take responsibility for me?"
‘Take responsibility!’
Baldwin gulped again as he looked at the strikingly beautiful face of the woman before him. "How do you want me to take responsibility?"
With a coy smile, Quinn's slender fingers reached toward his firm chest. "You say you slept with someone. How should you take responsibility?" The cool touch of her hand against his pectoral muscles immediately raised goosebumps.
Baldwin tensed up and his breathing became heavy. It was early morning, a time when men are naturally more responsive, and he was still of an age full of vigor. It would be strange if he could resist her allure.
Quinn watched as his ears turned red, the smile at the corner of her mouth growing wider.
‘Last night, someone had drunk a little too much and hadn't followed through. Perhaps they could finish where they left off, this morning?’ Just as she thought about pushing things further, her cell phone rang abruptly.
Baldwin's heart skipped, quickly pulling away her hand. "The phone, whose phone is that?"
Quinn, seeing his discomfort, pinched his cheek playfully. "Baldwin, you're really adorable."
The idea of making him her man didn't seem too bad! Dressed in a spaghetti strap nightgown, Quinn got out of bed to grab her phone.
Baldwin's eyes followed her, watching her graceful figure, and he took several deep breaths to calm the storm within.
Inside, he cursed himself fiercely. 'This is bad. I've made a huge mess. How could I have slept with her after drinking! And now she wants me to take responsibility!'
Quinn picked up the phone and glanced at it, her eyebrows raised in interest. It was Baldwin's agent calling. Since the agent couldn't get through to Baldwin, they had called her.
Quinn answered the phone and walked toward the bathroom. "Hello?"
"Quinn, did Baldwin get into a fight last night at the club?" the agent asked urgently.
Quinn pushed the bathroom door open, "Yes."
"And afterward, he stayed the night at your place?"
Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she smiled lightly, "That's right, you're well-informed."
The agent quickly responded, "I'm not well informed. Quinn, you probably haven't seen the news yet, but you and Baldwin are trending right now!"
Hearing this, Quinn paused in the middle of fixing her hair, a flicker of understanding crossing her eyes.
She forgot that Baldwin was a hotshot celebrity. Even slight movements would make the news.
"Do I need to keep the news under wraps?" she asked.
"Yes! But just suppressing it isn't enough. Baldwin's fans are already up in arms," her agent explained.
Quinn raised an eyebrow, "And what do you propose?"
Her agent smiled ingratiatingly, "Quinn, Baldwin comes from a humble background. I've spent a lot of time and money to get him to this point of stardom. We can't let a scandal ruin it all. So, could you please lend a hand and put out a statement saying you're seeing him?"
'Seeing him? So that's what the agent had in mind? Perfect. It played perfectly into her hands.' A smile carved on Quinn's lips.
"Why does it have to be a public relationship?" she asked.
"Quinn, you know the drill. You're a commanding CEO. If we don't say you're in a relationship, people will say that you're keeping Baldwin as a sugar baby, and his reputation will be tarnished," her agent clarified.
So, it was all for the sake of Baldwin's reputation.
Quinn's eyes twinkled, "But my reputation isn't exactly spotless either. Being with me might not do him any favors."
The agent said, "Still better than being labeled as someone's sugar baby." She was cornered. They had been caught spending the night together, after all!
Quinn detected the helplessness in her agent's tone. She probably felt that Quinn, with her scandalous reputation, wasn't worthy of Baldwin.
She didn't bother to explain further and readily agreed. "Okay, let's say we're seeing each other then."
After hanging up, her gaze fell on her arm, and she smirked slightly. The bruises on her arm were self-inflicted.
Exiting the bathroom, she returned to the bedroom to find Baldwin still in bed, wrapped in a sheet. As she came out, he quickly asked, "Where are my clothes?"
Quinn swayed seductively, her voice coquettish, "I tossed them."
Baldwin looked puzzled, his expression darkening, "Why would you throw away my clothes?"
Approaching the bed, Quinn responded, "They were torn to shreds. Why keep them?"
Baldwin was speechless.
"What am I supposed to wear?" he snapped back to reality and asked.
Quinn leaned forward, her index finger playfully lifting his chin, her lips parting slightly, "Baldwin, I think you look better wearing nothing at all."
Baldwin, catching her scent, felt his ears turn red uncontrollably.
He shook off her hand and turned away, "Be serious, find me something to wear."
Quinn let out a soft laugh and sat down on the edge of the bed. "What, were you planning on going out today?" she asked.
Baldwin looked at her, "What else? I have shooting to do today."
