Chapter 215 She Ran Off with an Actor

Suzy mind lingered over Aaron's declaration, "Nora is my woman."

'How did Nora earn that title? Had they already crossed a line of intimacy?' she pondered.

Before she could voice her questions, Aaron's following words struck her with disbelief.

"What? Aaron, are you banning me from Houston forever? No, you can't do this to me! We've grown up together, our families are close. How can you cast me aside for Nora?"

Ignoring her protests, Aaron turned to Howard, seeking his opinion, "Howard, what are your thoughts on this?"

Howard's brows were deeply furrowed, "Aaron, is there no alternative?"

Aaron's gaze was icy, "Yes. If you don't follow my instructions, I'll have no choice but to handle this formally."

Howard tightened his grip on his fingers. "Aaron, are you willing to provoke a conflict with my family over this?"

Aaron refuted, "No. Howard, your father has a strong sense of honor as a veteran, and if I bring this to him, what do you think he will do?"

'What would happen if my father discovers this?'

'Knowing his strict principles, he would likely disown his own daughter and enforce justice without leniency!'

Howard felt a knot in his stomach and kept silent.

Meanwhile, Suzy now looked pale on the bed, pleaded urgently, "My dad mustn't find out about this! Aaron, I won't do it again, I promise. Please give me another chance, don't kick me out."

Anxiety gripped her as she tried to rise, only to be halted by a sudden wave of nausea that filled the room with an unpleasant odor.

'She's experiencing another bout of diarrhea, again!'

Aaron's brow furrowed slightly, eager to leave.

"Howard, I'll take your silence as a yes. I must get going. I have other matters to attend to."

Howard's expression contorted into a mask of displeasure.

As the noxious stench pervaded the room, he instinctively covered his nose and ordered a servant to quickly attend to Suzy.

Flushed with a mix of shame and fury, Suzy's face twisted in a grimace.

Watching Aaron disappear through the door, she cried her heart out, her anguished cries echoing in the empty space.

"Aaron, please don't go! Why are you doing this to me? Don't leave, Aaron!"

"Howard, Suzy has passed out."

"Quick, give her the nitroglycerin!"

Meanwhile, outside, Aaron left the villa and let out a heavy sigh. Glancing at the time, it was almost five o'clock.

'Noe must have picked the kids up by now. And Nora, is she coming home for dinner?' Thinking of the woman he loved brought a faint smile to his lips as he took out his phone to call Nora.

The call went through, but she didn’t pick up the call.

Aaron narrowed his eyes as he pondered briefly before dialing Frederick.

"Frederick, is Nora still at the set?"

Frederick replied, "Mr. Gordon, I was just about to report to you, Nora is no longer at the set. She left with a male actor!"

Meanwhile, Nora was on her way back in Baldwin's nanny car.

Baldwin looked extremely anxious, constantly urging the driver to speed up.

Seated beside him, Nora consoled, "Baldwin, don't worry, we just video called your mother. She's only had a minor burn. It shouldn't be that extensive."

Twenty minutes earlier while at the set, Baldwin had received a distressing call from his mother saying she had fallen and scalded herself.

So, he urgently asked permission to leave the set to check on his mother.

Since Nora was a doctor, he had requested for her to join him and help assess his mother's condition and Nora readily agreed.

On the way, his concern for his mother's well-being prompted Baldwin to arrange a video call for Nora to assess the situation.

Nora couldn't physically assess the injury to gauge its severity. However, it appeared to be a twisted ankle and a scald from some boiling water. it didn't seem to be too serious. What caught her by surprised her was that Baldwin's mother was paralyzed from the waist down.

Baldwin, being comforted by her words, nodded with a glint of sympathy in his eyes.

"My mom has been in a wheelchair for nearly twenty years. I just hope she can live the rest of her life in peace and good health."

Upon hearing this, Nora hesitated before asking, "How did she become paralyzed?"

"A car accident." Baldwin fell silent for a moment before he began to share his mother's story. "Actually, I'm not her biological son. she adopted me from an orphanage."

Nora fell silent with thoughts in her head. 'Baldwin is an orphan?'

She continued to listen intently.

Baldwin recounted his mother's tragic past, revealing, "When my mom was young, she was toyed with and then discarded by a wealthy man. He was a playboy with a fiancée, and my mom, a headwaitress at a hotel, caught his eye.

"He charmed her swiftly, exploiting her innocence. After they met a few times, my mom found out she was pregnant, she thought he would marry her. But instead, he gave her some money to terminate the pregnancy and cut off all contact.

"She couldn't bear to go through with the abortion, so she secretly gave birth. The child was a consolation to her, but at tender age of three, her child was diagnosed with leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant.

"Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to find a suitable donor, and the child passed away. Mom was so heartbroken that she had a car crash while dealing with her child's funeral arrangements, which resulted in her paralysis."

Baldwin spoke with such sorrow that it was heartbreaking to listen to.

'As a mother herself, Nora could imagine the despair Baldwin's mother must have felt when she lost her child.'

She let out a small sigh and asked, "How come they couldn't find a suitable bone marrow donor? Usually, there would a chance of a match with the biological parents or close blood relatives."

Baldwin nodded, "That's right. my mom tried to find that man to get tested. But he didn't remember her anymore and denied that the child was his.

"When she finally arranged to present the child for a paternity test to dispel any doubts, the man had been absent for over six months, purportedly out of town. Whether his extended absence was genuine business or a deliberate avoidance of her remains uncertain. Tragically, during this period, the child passed away."

'So that's what happened. Such a tragic story.' Nora felt deeply moved by his mother’s story.

"So, men really are no good." She mused aloud.

"Especially those jerks who play women! Sorry, I went off on a tangent there. I hope I didn't hit a nerve," Baldwin said with an apologetic smile to Nora.

Nora snapped back to reality and chuckled, "No worries. I'm luckier than your mother. My kids may not have a father, but each one of them is smart, adorable, and incredibly cheerful. They're the greatest gift I've ever received from above."

At that, Baldwin's lips curled into a smile. "Hearing you talk about them like that, I can almost picture how charming they must be."

"Yeah, my three kids are truly adorable," Nora said proudly.

"Well, with a beautiful mom, the kids are bound to be good-looking too," Baldwin said with a charming grin.

Nora arched an eyebrow and, without a hint of modesty, responded, "Thanks for the compliment."

Her candor and lack of pretense gave Baldwin pause as he looked at her appreciatively, his gaze carrying a trace of admiration.
