Chapter 542 A Skeleton in the Closet
"I knew it was Suzy getting back at me," Becky shouted.
Nora's eyes flashed with a hint of apology.
"Sorry, it's my fault that got you dragged into this issue."
She made Becky drive a wedge between Suzy and Sunny, which led to Suzy's revenge, nearly resulting in harm to Becky.
"Nora, you owe me compensation." Becky pouted.
Nora nodded. "You can have whatever compensation you want."
A hint of sly joy appeared in Becky's eyes. "Then give me more opportunities to act."
Nora looked at Aaron. "Aaron, is that okay?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "No problem."
Nora smiled. "Did you hear that?"
"Then all my suffering was worth it."
Becky chuckled, but then her smile faded as she thought of something.
"But I'm curious, didn't Sunny call the police and say she was going to sue Suzy? How did they reconcile so quickly?"
Nora was silent. "Could there be some kind of deal between them?"
A flicker of doubt flashed in Becky's eyes. "But I heard Suzy's agent terminated their contract with her. Now she's all alone, with no backing. She almost disfigured Sunny; logically, she should be very angry and take the opportunity to suppress her, right?"
Yeah!
That was what any normal person would do!
But Sunny reconciled with Suzy!

Nora instinctively glanced at Aaron and spoke softly, "Maybe it's because Sunny is kind-hearted." Nora showed a half-smile.
Aaron felt a chill down his spine. "Why are you looking at me?"
Nora smiled coolly. "Am I not allowed to look at you? Very well, I'll avert my eyes."

Nora's half-smile returned. "Aaron, are your feeling guilty?"
Aaron felt chills down his spine. "Am I?"
"Aren't you?"
Aaron looked helpless. "Alright, if you think I'm guilty, I can't argue with that."
That night four years ago was a skeleton in the closet for him.
If Nora wanted to tease him, so be it!
Listening to their banter, Becky was afraid they might start arguing, so she changed the subject.
"Nora, we don't have direct evidence to prove Suzy hired someone to kill me. Are we just going to let it go?"
Before Nora could speak, Lucas interjected, "Of course not."
Nora nodded. "Yes, we definitely can't let this go."
"Leave this matter to me," Lucas said.
Looking at him in suprise, Nora raised an eyebrow. "Leave it to you?"
"She hurt my lover, so I have to take it out on her myself!" Lucas said coldly.
'His lover!'
Nora thought of something. She glanced at Becky and teased, "You're avenging your lover. That's how it should be."
Becky felt a bit embarrassed. Seeing Lucas look over, she suddenly said, "Who are you calling your lover? I have nothing to do with you."
Lucas looked at her. "Becky, although we haven't had a wedding yet, Noah has already grown up. We're basically married in all but name, aren't we?"
Becky was at a loss for words. She looked at Lucas, feeling complicated.
She used to chase after him while he avoided her.
Now, he was the one bringing up common-law marriage.
Did this mean he planned to marry her?
Nora, standing nearby, said, "Lucas, you mentioned that you and Becky's child have already grown up. So, do you want to marry Becky?"
Lucas glanced at Becky but didn't say anything. Instead, he got up to get his bag.
Becky thought Lucas had no such intentions and began to mock herself, 'Am I still holding out hope for him?'
'I am overestimating herself!'
Her mood inexplicably sank.
At this moment, Lucas walked to the bedside, then knelt on one knee and opened the velvet box in his hand.
"Becky, proposing to you now seems rushed. But given the circumstances, will you marry me?"
This sudden proposal left Becky stunned.
Her gaze slowly fell on the box that Lucas was holding.
Inside the black velvet box lay a diamond ring.
Under the bright light, the diamond on the ring sparkled.
It dazzled Becky's eyes.
He actually proposed to her!
Seeing this scene, Nora smiled.
Seeing Becky standing there like a fool, she couldn't help but say, "Becky, say something. Just say yes!"
Becky slowly looked up at her, momentarily speechless.
Aaron, standing nearby, raised an eyebrow. "How about some encouragement?"
Saying this, he slowly started clapping.
Nora beamed and joined in the applause.
Becky snapped back to reality and swallowed. When she met Lucas's expectant gaze, she initially wanted to reject him haughtily.
However, the words got stuck in her throat.
Maybe it was because Nora and Aaron were present, or perhaps it was because Lucas had saved her today.
In the end, she said, "For Noah's sake, I'll give you a chance. But if you treat me coldly or disdainfully like before, I'll leave with Noah anytime! After all, I'm about to become a top star. I won't be lack for male attention!"
Hearing her haughty tone, Lucas laughed. He let out a long sigh of relief in his heart.
"Yes, my queen. I'll never dare to neglect you again. Come on!"
He extended his hand, signaling Becky to extend her left hand.
Becky felt elated. She raised her chin slightly and extended her beautiful hand.
Lucas smiled and slipped the ring onto her ring finger.
The diamond ring was large. At this moment, it sparkled under the light.
Becky's face lit up with a smile.
Nora watched this scene and clapped again.
She was happy for them.

Standing beside her, Aaron watched Lucas's successful proposal, squinting his eyes with envy.

Lucas was stunned. "Becky, can you consider my dignity in front of others? Don't speak your mind so bluntly, okay?"
Becky snorted, "That's just how I am. Don't you like it?"
"Of course I do. I like you no matter what."
Watching them flirt, Nora smiled and pulled Aaron out of the hospital room.
Thinking of Suzy, she became curious.
She wondered how Lucas planned to deal with Suzy.
Soon, she knew the answer.
