Chapter 849 Couldn't Be Taken Away by Force

Hugo was stunned and whispered, "Honey, can you save me some face in front of others?"

Aisha turned her head away, not looking at him, and didn't mock him further.

Nora smiled and said, "Mr. Rochet, let me check your pulse first."

Hugo coughed lightly, nodded, and didn't refuse.

The two sat down, and Nora took Hugo's pulse, focusing intently.

As she had suspected, the infertility issue lay with Hugo.

Hugo had moderate oligospermia.

The fact that he managed to get Aisha pregnant once was a miracle.

Nora withdrew her hand, met Hugo's expectant gaze, and said, "Mr. Rochet, you do have a condition."

Hugo had already accepted this fact and quickly asked, "Can it be treated?"

"Yes."

Hugo was excited. "Really?"

Nora nodded and added, "But you need to be mentally prepared. Your condition won't be cured soon. It will likely take a year or two."

Unlike other conditions, oligospermia required a gentler, more gradual approach to healing.

She couldn't guarantee that Hugo would be cured in the short term.

Hearing this, a trace of suspicion flashed in Hugo's eyes.

"Dr. Smith, are you lying to me just to get Millie back?"

Nora looked at him and said, "I can swear on my career that if I'm lying to you, I will never be a doctor in this life or the next."

Her gaze held an irresistible magnetism, drawing people in and compelling them to trust her implicitly.

Hugo glanced at Millie, who was being held by James. He knew the purpose of their visit.

"Dr. Smith, I know why you're here, and I think you can guess why I brought Millie back to the country. If you can cure my condition, I can give up custody of Millie."

Hugo breathed a sigh of relief, and so did Nora.

But she didn't completely relax.

Because Hugo's condition couldn't be cured immediately; it required a long period of conditioning.

So, during this time, would Hugo still want to keep Millie here?

Before she could figure it out, James's cold sneer reached her ears.

"Hugo, you're just Millie's uncle. You don't have the right to discuss her custody with us."

James didn't want to leave Millie here for even a moment.

He just wanted to take Millie away immediately.

Hugo's face darkened.

"James, I can be patient with Dr. Smith and Mr. Gordon, but that doesn't mean I can tolerate you. Go, take Millie away."

He ordered a servant to take Millie.

The servant stepped forward.

James, with a stern face, kicked the approaching servant.

"No one can take Millie away. Dr. Smith, Mr. Gordon, let's go!"

The atmosphere became tense.

Nora and Aaron both frowned, thinking James was too impulsive.

They had already taken the first step, making Hugo relent.

Although they couldn't be sure if they could take Millie away immediately, they might have a chance if they tried a bit more.

But now, James's actions had complicated things again.

"Over my dead body will anyone take Millie away!"

Hugo shouted sternly, and several black-clad bodyguards quickly appeared, surrounding James and the others.

James glared and snapped. "Hugo, tell them to back off, or I'll get physical!"

Hugo sneered and said, "James, let me remind you, breaking into someone's home in broad daylight is equivalent to theft. If you aren't afraid, I will call the police."

"You..."

"James!" Aaron interrupted James, giving him a look to calm down.

James held Millie tightly, suppressing his anger and staying silent.

Hugo looked at Jasmine, who was standing aside. "Jasmine, go and take Millie."

Jasmine was actually a bit afraid of James, afraid he might kick her like he did the servant.

But since Hugo had spoken, she had no choice but to comply.

"Millie, let me hold you."

She clapped her hands towards Millie.

James held Millie tightly, staring at Jasmine's extremely familiar face with a complex expression.

Millie, uncomfortable in James's arms, wriggled to get down.

"Uncle James, you're holding me too tight."

James snapped back to reality, loosening his grip slightly but not letting go of Millie.

Seeing Jasmine reaching out to hold Millie, he took a step back.

"Who are you really? Don't say you're Emmeline's sister; she didn't have a sister!"

Jasmine swallowed and said, "I'm Jasmine. Sir, please speak calmly; don't scare Millie."

James stared at her, his eyes filled with pain.

He shouted, "Tell me, who are you? Why are you wearing Emmeline's face? Change it back!"

James didn't want to see someone with a face identical to Emmeline's.

Every time he saw that face, it felt like a knife stabbing his heart.

James's shout made Millie cry out loud.

"Mommy, I want Mommy. Uncle James, don't be mean to Auntie Jasmine!"

She wriggled, leaning towards Jasmine for a hug.

Jasmine took the opportunity to reach out and hold her.

But James wouldn't let go, making Millie cry even louder.

Nora watched this scene, frowning, and exchanged a glance with Aaron.

Aaron spoke, "James, give Millie to her first."

It was clear that Millie liked Jasmine.

So even if they forcibly took Millie away now, it might cause psychological trauma.

After all, Millie was a year older and more mentally developed.

Millie had already lost her mother once. If they took her away from Jasmine, who looked just like Emmeline, it would be a second trauma, possibly causing psychological issues.

"Millie is Emmeline's daughter. I can't leave her here." James held Millie tightly.

Aaron frowned slightly, saying, "James, think about it. Millie is Emmeline's only daughter. You don't want to see her hurt again, do you?"

James's chest heaved. "But she doesn't belong here. I can't leave her here."

Aaron said, "I know. Listen to me, don't get agitated. Take it slow."

"Yes, James, calm down. Impulsiveness won't solve anything." Nora stepped forward, her eyes clear and bright.

James remained silent, watching Millie cry to get down. He finally relented and handed Millie to Jasmine.

As soon as Millie was in Jasmine's arms, she clung to her neck, tearfully glancing at James.

Seeing James's bloodshot eyes, Millie quickly looked away, hiding in Jasmine's neck, looking dependent.

Nora saw this and sighed inwardly.

She thought that if she asked Millie now if she wanted to go back to Chrisland with her, she might refuse it.

After all, Jasmine had a face identical to Emmeline's.

That was Millie's biological mother's face, irreplaceable.

She had to admit Hugo was really calculating.
