Chapter 901 Staying by His Side as an Assistant

"Mom, just listen to Dad." Hubert shot Patricia a quick look.

Patricia, fuming, stormed upstairs.

Hubert turned to his wife, Sadie. "Take Autumn upstairs to keep Mom company."

"Okay," Sadie replied, giving Jane a cold, unfriendly glance before picking up Autumn and heading upstairs.

Lloyd, still looking indifferent, clearly didn't want Zephyr in the company either. "Dad, our company runs on a one-person-per-position basis. If Zephyr joins, what's he gonna do? He's never done business. Maybe he should start from the bottom?"

Leonard glanced at him. "If you want Zephyr to start from the bottom, why don't you join him and get some grassroots experience too?"

Lloyd laughed. "No way, Dad. I've been working with you and Hubert all along. I don't need more grassroots experience."

Leonard sneered, "Besides practicing your signature, what else can you do?"

Lloyd's face soured. "Dad, don't underestimate me. Are you saying I only know how to eat, drink, and have fun? We often discuss business over meals, so entertaining guests is crucial. And who can do that better than me?"

Leonard sneered again, "Stop praising yourself. If you can lose a little less money this year, I'd be grateful."

"Dad, we're talking about Zephyr here. Why bring me into this?" Lloyd quickly changed the subject.

Leonard looked at Hubert. "Hubert, what do you think?"

Hubert, always the thinker, put on a kind face. "Dad, I mentioned last time that our overseas business is expanding. Why not let Zephyr get some experience abroad?"

Hubert was trying to push Zephyr out of the core circle.

Zephyr caught on and wasn't having it. "Dad, Lloyd isn't entirely wrong. I've always been a doctor and never done business, so I need guidance."

"But if you send me abroad, I might mess things up. It'd be better for me to stay here and learn from Hubert."

"Hubert is my brother. I believe he would be more willing to teach me. This way, I can learn more useful stuff."

Zephyr's argument made Leonard nod. "That makes sense. It's decided then. Report to the company tomorrow."

Zephyr smiled. "Okay, Dad."

Leonard thought for a moment. "You're my son, so you don't need to start from the bottom. Since you studied medicine, why not take over the pharmaceutical company first?"

'What!'

'Let Zephyr take over the pharmaceutical company!'

'That's a prime position!'

Hubert's heart sank. "Dad..."

"Hubert, once Zephyr joins, you need to spend more time teaching him," Leonard interrupted.

"I hope you brothers work together so the company can grow faster."

Leonard's firm gaze left no room for argument. Hubert swallowed his words, feeling unwilling but ultimately said nothing, hiding all his emotions.

"Yes, I'll follow your arrangements."

Seeing Hubert so obedient, Leonard was satisfied.

Leonard looked at Zephyr. "Zephyr, learn well from Hubert and work hard."

Zephyr gave a slight smile. "I will."

Leonard nodded, then turned to Jane, his face darkening. "Zephyr, listen to me. Even though Ms. Harvey has resigned, her civilian status still doesn't match yours. Break up with her immediately."

Zephyr frowned. "Dad..."

"Leonard, I have a request," Jane interrupted.

Leonard, still cold, asked, "What request?"

Jane said, "Give me six months. I'll stay by Zephyr's side as his assistant. If after six months you still think I'm not good enough for him, I'll leave voluntarily."

Zephyr's heart tightened, and he squeezed her hand. Jane glanced at him, seeing his slightly furrowed brow, and smiled faintly. She thought, 'He doesn't want to let me go. Who promised to break up once we returned to Chrisland?'

"Fine, as you wish," Leonard agreed readily. He was determined to separate them within these six months. Jane, on the other hand, thought six months would be enough to investigate the Wright family. As for her and Zephyr, she would wait for his answer after six months. Whether Leonard agreed or not, Jane wouldn't care.

"Alright, let's eat," Leonard said, standing up to start the meal.

Zephyr walked over to help him up, and Jane followed behind them. The three of them headed to the kitchen together.

"Hubert, things don't look good," Lloyd said, watching them walk away. Although Lloyd had no ambition, he was naturally unhappy about Zephyr suddenly appearing and sharing the inheritance. Moreover, Zephyr seemed to be favored by Leonard, which made him even more displeased.

Hubert's face was gloomy, and he didn't say much. "Go call Mom and Sadie down for dinner."

Lloyd glanced at Savannah and pinched her butt. "Go on."

Savannah responded and swayed her hips as she went upstairs. Soon, a few people came down.

Patricia's face didn't look good. "Mom, control your temper. Don't make Dad angry. We can't let Dad side with them right now," Hubert whispered to Patricia.

Patricia glanced at him, barely suppressing her anger, and went to the dining room with the others. Everyone took their seats at the table.

The happiest person today was Leonard. He asked the servant to open a bottle of wine. "You three brothers should drink with me today."

"Yes, Dad," Zephyr said, taking the wine from the servant and personally pouring a glass for Leonard. This gesture made Leonard even more satisfied.

Jane raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly. She thought, 'Zephyr is playing the dutiful son. The gentle Zephyr is now taking a more cunning path?'

"Ms. Harvey, don't be shy. Help yourself to whatever you want," Sadie said with a smile. "Although you probably don't usually eat these dishes and don't know what fine ingredients they're made of, following Zephyr will broaden your horizons, and you won't be mocked for your civilian background anymore."

Sadie pretended to be gentle and kind but was subtly implying that Jane was unsophisticated.
