Chapter 428 I Believe
"Yeah," Harper nodded firmly, her eyes filled with admiration.
Archer curled his lips and asked, "You don't mind that I'm a cripple?"
Harper quickly shook her head, and replied, "No way, Archer, you will always be the heartthrob in my heart."
His current disability was caused by saving her.
How could she possibly despise him?
She felt overwhelmed with guilt.
"You're quite persuasive," Archer took a sip of his coffee, a hint of a smile in his eyes.
Harper bit her lip and said, "Do you not believe me, Archer?"
Archer placed his coffee down and smiled without saying a word.
Harper said, "I swear, everything I said is true."
She appeared anxious, but Archer felt unexpectedly at ease and found the girl in front of him quite cute.
At that moment, the waiter began serving the dishes one by one, interrupting the conversation between the two.
Archer asked the waiter to bring some wine and asked Harper, "Would you like to have a drink?"
Harper shook her head, "You go ahead, I'll have some juice."
Archer didn't insist and poured her a glass of juice.
After the waiter left, he raised his wine glass and said, "Cheers?"
"Okay." Harper didn't hesitate and obediently raised her glass to clink with him.
With a light sound, the two crystal-clear glasses gently collided as if their hearts were touching each other.
Archer emptied his glass in one gulp.
Harper also took a small sip of juice and then picked up her fork to serve Archer some food.
"This dish looks good, try it," Archer suggested.
Archer glanced at her, and his facial expression softened.
Although their feelings hadn't reached a deep level due to time constraints, he was starting to develop a favorable impression of the girl.
She seemed like a virtuous and lovely girl.
"I believe you." Archer took a bite of the dish she served and burst out.
Harper was momentarily stunned but then reacted slowly. He was responding to her previous question.
He believed what she said.
He believed that she saw him as a god-like figure.
Harper smiled.
It was enough that he believed her.
She wanted to marry him simply because she liked him; nothing else mattered.
The two remained silent and quietly enjoyed their meal.
The warm yellow light from above cast a gentle glow, and Harper occasionally glanced at Archer, her eyes softening.
At this moment, even without speaking, they didn't feel any sense of discomfort.
Being together, looking at the snowy scenery, and eating with the person she liked was a kind of enjoyment.
Even without words, it was still enjoyable.
Halfway through the meal, Harper inexplicably felt somewhat parched.
She was wearing a fitted black undershirt, and she just wanted to take her clothes off.
What's going on?
Is it because the air conditioning is blasting too high?
Harper picked up the glass next to her and took a big gulp of juice, but it didn't quench her thirst.
"I'm feeling hot." Harper bit her lip and couldn't help but mutter.
Her gaze landed on the attractive lips of the man across from her and then shifted down to his sexy Adam's apple. Harper unconsciously swallowed her saliva.
Those lips were so sexy, and Adam's apple was so enticing. Why did she want to kiss him so much?
And at this moment, Archer, who was facing her, also sensed that something was wrong.
Why did his body suddenly feel hot?
Could it be...
Being immersed in the business world for years, Archer naturally experienced many tricks.
This kind of heat was not a normal phenomenon.
But there were no clients today, so who could be plotting against him?
Why would someone plot against him?
As he was pondering, a woman's fragrance reached him.
Archer raised his gaze and saw Harper already standing beside him, reaching out and hooking her hand around his neck. She was sitting on his lap.
Her gaze was hazy, and there was an abnormal blush on her face.
What was she trying to do...
"Archer, can I kiss you?" the woman's originally gentle voice suddenly became seductive.
Archer's gaze darkened, and his already restless blood began to boil even more.
Before he could utter a word, Harper eagerly pressed her lips against his thin ones.
Archer's breath caught, his pulse racing to one particular place.
The woman in his arms let out a contented sigh as if a mere kiss was insufficient. Her hand began to wander towards his body, restless.
Archer's muscles tensed immediately, his rational mind prompting him to seize her hand and evade her kiss.
"Harper, I suspect there might be something wrong with the water we drank. Let me escort you to the hospital first," Archer proposed.
Harper's eyes narrowed.
Due to the effects of the drugs, her response was slightly delayed.
At that moment, all she desired was to kiss him, yet she struggled to maintain control.
"What's in the water?" she asked.
Archer replied, "Something that can turn you into a bad girl."
Suppressing his desires, Archer stood up and supported Harper.
Turn into a bad girl?
Harper finally caught up.
At this moment, her body felt unbearably itchy. She couldn't help but hold onto him, lightly rubbing her body against his.
Harper said, "Archer, I feel so uncomfortable. I don't think I can wait to go to the hospital."
As she spoke, she kissed his lips again, and her small hands began to touch him without any restraint.
Archer was being seduced, making him restless.
He was a man who was healthy in every aspect; how could he withstand this kind of temptation?
Moreover, he had also fallen into the trap.
Archer struggled to control his impulse to take her right then and there, weakly avoiding her red lips, and hoarsely said, "Then tonight, let's not go back, okay?"
He was not young anymore, and it was time for him to get married.
He had a good impression of her, and if she became his woman tonight, he would marry her!
Harper was in a daze, her rationality almost burning away.
She looked at the man's handsome face and just wanted to devour him quickly.
"Okay, take me away quickly." Harper pleaded.
Archer assured, "Hold on a little longer; I'll take you away."
Archer didn't have time to think about who was plotting against him. At that moment, he just wanted to leave with his girl as quickly as possible.
Archer led Harper out of the private room.
In the lobby, Nora patted Aaron's hand as she watched the two of them leave.
"Thomas, should we follow them and see what's going on?" she asked.
Aaron was tending to the two little girls as they ate, and he calmly replied, "Eat your meal; Frederick will keep an eye on them."
From their actions, it was safe to assume that they were now going to a hotel room.
Yes, the plan was a success.
"Thomas, do you think they will blame us once they find out the truth?" Nora asked, feeling a little guilty as she stared at the disappearing figures.
She had been unduly influenced by someone to the extent of causing trouble with that individual!
"Do you think Suzy should marry Archer?" Aaron inquired.
"Absolutely not," Nora responded.
"Well, there you have it," Aaron stated calmly.
"But if they don't have any feelings for each other, aren't we just setting up a couple filled with resentment by pushing this?" Nora began to worry after bantering with Aaron.
Aaron smirked. "Don't fret; I know what I'm doing. The substances Frederick slipped into their drinks were merely for a bit of thrill. It won't lead them to lose control. If Archer truly harbored no feelings for Harper, he wouldn't have crossed such a boundary with her."
