Chapter 317 Why Must My Family Align with the Hamilton family
Aaron’s eyes locked onto hers as he gently removed her hand from his mouth.
"Nora, I swear on my life, I’ll do everything in my power to protect you and the kids,” he assured her.
His gaze was deep and unfathomable, filled with boundless determination and confidence.
Nora pushed down the slight unease and entanglement that Hollis had stirred up in her heart. She curved the corners of her lips, wrapped her arms around his neck, slightly lifted her body, and took the initiative to press her red lips against his.
Aaron felt the tenderness in her gesture, his eyes darkened, and then he passionately returned the kiss. The temperature in the room began to rise.
During a break in their deep kiss, Aaron paused and asked in a hoarse voice, "Why did you suddenly ask that just now?"
Nora's eyes were coquettish, and she answered softly, "Just asking."
Aaron flipped her over, changing their positions to her on top.
"Can I take it that you have completely accepted me and are ready to marry me?" he said. He wanted assurance that she was prepared, after all.
Nora's beautiful almond-shaped eyes shimmered, said teasingly, "I never said that."
Aaron raised an eyebrow, his long fingers removing one obstacle after another from her body.
"Who else would you marry if not me? That foolish weakling?" he taunted.
Nora was speechless for a moment.
The foolish weakling, was he implying something about Gary? Was Gary truly that bad?
"Who are you belittling? Gary? He isn't that bad, is he?" protested Nora.
Aaron flipped them over again, pressing her beneath him.
His long fingers traced over her sensitive spot as he teased, "Really?"
Nora let out a soft gasp, "What are you doing?"
"Daring to defend him, hmm?" Aaron's kisses landed on her earlobe with his tone laced with a hint of danger.
Nora felt her body weaken, her voice trembling as she tried to explain, "I'm not defending him! That was a legitimate question, okay?"
"Don’t question me! He is just a foolish weakling!" Aaron’s hand roamed over her, knowing exactly where to touch to make her melt, where to make her scream.
Nora wanted to say something but was already too overwhelmed by his caresses to think.
She was left to only move rhythmically with him, ascending together to the heights of ecstasy.
Soon, Saturday came quickly.
To celebrate the joyful reunion with a long-lost family member, the Remington family organized a banquet at the renowned Estate in Lindwood City.
As night fell, the estate was brilliantly illuminated, as bright as day. Luxury cars filled the parking area outside the estate.
Guests invited to the banquet arrived, the men wore suits and shiny shoes, and women in fluttering dresses, all chatting and laughing, creating a scene of bustling prosperity.
Nora and Aaron also made their appearance.
Nora was dressed in a lake blue evening gown.
The form-fitting, floor-length dress highlighted her slender waist, drawing admiring glances as she moved gracefully through the venue.
The simple V-neck design of her dress revealed her pale, smooth skin, which shone under the light as if it were glowing.
Her hair was swept up high, exposing her sleek forehead and the elegantly curved lines of her swan-like neck.
She was already a beauty with delicate features, and with just a hint of makeup, she became even more dazzling.
By her side was Aaron, dressed in a meticulously crafted dark suit. His hair was neatly combed back, showcasing his handsome face from every angle, flawless. The strikingly attractive couple made a perfect match, leaving onlookers in awe.
"Let's go," Aaron said, bending his elbow slightly to indiEvella for Nora to take his arm.
Nora smiled and hooked her arm through his as they walked into the estate.
"Evella, you look beautiful," Nora sincerely complimented.
"Evella, you're the one who's beautiful. You don't know how many eyes were on you the moment you walked in," Evella Remington, previously known as Evella, had now adopted a new surname as part of Remington's family, said with a smile.
"That can't be true," Nora chuckled.
"Seriously, look for yourself. Even now, there are plenty of men sneakily glancing this way," Evella Remington said.
Aaron had noticed it already. The looks from the other men were ones of amazement reserved for a stunning woman, which puffed up his pride but also displeased him at the same time.
His lips slightly pursed, and he drew Nora closer into his arms, a dominant gesture to protect his territory.
Nora was bemused. "Can you let go? Doesn't this look bad?"
Aaron retorted, "I don't look bad. It's everyone else that does."
Nora couldn't help but laugh. It seemed that he had stopped caring about maintaining his CEO Gordon facade.
"Mr. Gordon is so manly," Evella Remington chuckled.
Nora teased, "Evella, if your family's banquet hall runs out of vinegar tonight, you don't need to buy any. Just ask him for some."
Evella Remington was startled for a moment, then burst into laughter at the joke.
Aaron, far from being annoyed by the teasing, appeared wholly content.
Evella Remington, after a moment of laughter, casually glanced over and noticed that the Hamilton family had arrived.
"Nora, Sandy and the others are here," she informed.
Upon hearing this, Nora turned her gaze towards the entrance of the banquet hall.
The Hamilton family members were all dressed very formally, and even Howard, who hadn't been seen in a long time, was in attendance.
Remington, the head of the Remington family, was busy entertaining guests when he spotted Ebenezer approaching. He quickly went over to greet him with warm conversation.
Nora's gaze landed on Suzy, who was arm-in-arm with Emma, and something crossed her mind. She asked Evella, "Do you have a big brother, don't you?"
"Yes," Evella Remington replied. "My uncle's son is over there!"
Nora followed Evella’s line of sight and saw a tall man exchanging pleasantries with a few guests. Even from a distance and without a clear view, it was evident from the man's poise and demeanor that he carried the elegance and nobility of an aristocrat.
"Evella, has your brother married yet?" Nora inquired.
Evella Remington shook her head. "I heard from my mom that my uncle is keen on establishing a connection with the Hamilton family."
It was indeed so!
Nora's brows knitted slightly, she asked, "What's your brother like?"
"I haven't been back long, and even though I haven't spent much time with my brother, he's always been good to me," Evella Remington said. "The family holds him in high regard. He's completely devoted to his career and keeps his personal life very organized. The only thing is, he's been in a car accident and injured his legs, which is why he doesn't walk that smoothly."
By the sound of it, the elder Remington was a decent man. A slight limp was hardly a flaw.
How could they even consider letting someone like Suzy enter the Remington home, potentially bringing trouble to the elder Remington?
Nora remained silent.
"Ah, why does my family insist on forming ties with the Hamilton family? My grandmother said that if my brother doesn't marry Mr. Ebenezer's daughter, Suzy, then I'd have to marry Young Master Howard from the Hamilton family," Evella Remington sighed, her expression helpless.
Nora's eyes flickered. "So, what's the outcome?"
"I don't want to marry yet. Fortunately, my brother understands my feelings and agreed to marry Suzy," Evella Remington explained.
‘I see!’ Nora thought.
As the Hamilton family members approached, Nora pursed her lips, saying nothing.
Although she was only on average terms with Howard, comparing the two, she would prefer Evella Remington join the Hamilton family than have Suzy marry into the Remington family, bringing potential misfortune upon the elder Remington.
