Chapter 851 How to Solve It

"Why?" Nora asked curiously.

"If Uncle Hugo gets better quickly, then Mommy will have to leave. But if he doesn't, he'll be in a lot of pain."

Millie looked troubled and conflicted.

Nora couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, don't think too much about it. I will stay here for a long time, and I want you to be happy every day. Come on, smile at me."

No matter where Millie ended up, their biggest wish was for her to live a healthy and happy life.

Millie grinned. "Mommy, I miss Billy. I want to call him."

Nora glanced at the time. It should be around 9 PM in Lindwood City.

"Okay, Billy should be awake. I'll call him."

Nora dialed a video call.

The call connected quickly.

Billy, in his pajamas, was getting ready for bed.

"Mommy."

Billy's little face looked serious as if he had something on his mind.

"Not asleep yet?"

"About to."

"Look, who is this?"

Nora handed the phone to Millie.

Millie had been eagerly waiting. She took the phone and cheerfully called out, "Billy."

Billy's eyes lit up. "Millie, finally, I see you. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Billy. I miss you so much," Millie said sweetly.

Billy's little face finally broke into a big smile.

"Millie, are you, Mommy, and Daddy coming back soon?"

Hearing this, Millie's smile froze.

"Billy, Auntie Jasmine doesn't want to come back with me. Why don't you come here for school? Then we can go to school together every day like before."

Billy frowned and asked. "Who's Auntie Jasmine?"

Millie pointed the camera at Jasmine. "This is Jasmine. My Mommy sent her to take care of me. She looks just like her. Mommy and she are just like you and Alex, like twins."

Billy looked surprised and frowned even more.

"Millie, do you want to stay there?"

Millie thought for a moment and replied, "Billy, I don't want to be apart from Auntie Jasmine, but I also don't want to be apart from you. It would be great if we could all be together."

Billy looked at her, unsure of what to say.

After a while, he asked, "Are they treating you well over there?"

At this, Millie brightened up again.

"Yes, very well. There's Auntie Jasmine, Uncle Hugo, Aunt Aisha, Grandpa, and Grandma. They all like me."

After a pause, Millie remembered something. "Oh, wait, Grandma doesn't seem to like me very much."

Nora listened to Millie's innocent words, her eyes flickering slightly.

Stov's mother, Mia, didn't like Millie.

Probably because of Emmeline.

Millie and Billy continued chatting. Millie chattered about her experiences there while Billy listened quietly, occasionally chiming in.

"Dr. Smith, Mr. Gordon, dinner's ready. Come and eat."

Aisha came over to call them for dinner.

Nora smiled at her and said to Millie, "Alright, Millie, let's go eat. Billy needs to go to bed."

Millie was reluctant. "Goodbye, Billy. We'll video chat again tomorrow."

"Okay," Billy replied.

Nora put away the phone and looked at Millie's fair little face, sighing softly.

This was troublesome.

It seemed Millie didn't want to leave.

Logically, they should respect Millie's wishes, but James definitely wouldn't agree.

And they wouldn't feel at ease.

'After all, Hugo is too shrewd and profit-driven, not a suitable guardian.'

'We have raised Millie for almost a year and already considered her our own child.'

'We can't trust someone like Hugo to raise Millie.'

Nora, deep in thought, took Millie to dinner.

During the meal, Aisha warmly entertained Nora.

Hugo brought out some wine and invited Aaron to drink with him.

Aaron didn't refuse, and the two chatted about business matters.

James's attention was entirely on Jasmine and Millie, not minding Hugo's neglect.

Aisha was very considerate, constantly inviting him to eat.

Nora observed Hugo and the others discreetly.

From their conversation and behavior, it was clear that Aisha was well-educated, well-mannered, and a generous person.

If she were to raise Millie, there wouldn't be much of a problem.

However, Nora's gaze fell on Jasmine again.

Because Jasmine had undergone plastic surgery, Nora couldn't tell what she originally looked like or what kind of person she was.

Millie was so attached to her, and Hugo would definitely let her continue raising Millie.

If Jasmine had impure intentions, that would be unacceptable.

The meal took quite a while. After eating and resting for a bit, Jasmine took Millie for a nap.

"Daddy, Mommy, will I see you when I wake up?"

Millie asked.

She was afraid she wouldn't see Nora and Aaron when she woke up.

Nora smiled and replied, "Of course. I won't leave for now. I need to treat Uncle Hugo."

At this, Hugo interjected, "Dr. Smith, Mr. Gordon, why don't you stay here for a while?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow, noncommittal. "Wouldn't that be too much trouble?"

"No trouble at all. It's been a long time since the house was this lively. Make yourself at home."

Hugo, needing Nora's help, naturally hoped she would become a regular guest.

"Yes, Dr. Smith, Mr. Gordon, please stay," Aisha agreed, then instructed the servants to prepare two guest rooms.

Millie, listening to their conversation, clapped and laughed. "Great, Daddy and Mommy are staying. If only Billy and Samantha were here too!"

Millie's thoughts were simple. As long as she had familiar people to play with, she was happy. She didn't care about the adults' grudges.

Nora smiled but didn't respond.

Hugo asked with a smile, "I've always heard Millie mention Billy, Samantha, and Alex. Dr. Smith, Mr. Gordon, are they your children?"

"Yes."

"When they have a break, you must bring them here to stay for a while," Hugo said.

"Sure," Nora replied casually.

Aaron smirked.

James stood by, silent, clearly holding back his emotions.

After Jasmine took Millie for a nap and Hugo and Aaron went outside to smoke, he asked Nora, "Dr. Smith, what do you think? Can we still take Millie away?"

Nora looked at him and replied, "Mr. Franklin, I understand how you feel. I want to take Millie away immediately, too. But I just tested Millie, and she doesn't really want to come back with us."

"If we force her, it might leave a psychological scar. She's already lost her mother once. Separating her from her mother again would only hurt her more."
