Chapter 125 You Saved My Life
Following the kids' preferences, Aaron took them to a family-friendly restaurant for a feast.
The kids were thrilled with the meal. Afterward, they all headed to a furniture emporium.
The eager store manager had been waiting. As per Nora's requests, the manager showed them a variety of high-quality items—with corresponding price tags.
But eventually, Nora got everything at a bargain.
Satisfied, she said, "Thanks, Mr. Yankos, let's go with these for now. I'll reach out if we need anything else."
"Of course, Nora. Feel free to contact me anytime," Mr. Yankos responded warmly.
Nora inquired, "Can you deliver these items first thing in the morning?"
"Absolutely."
"Great. How do we settle up?" Nora took out her phone, ready to pay.
Thomas intervened, "Let me handle the bill with Mr. Yankos."
Nora was taken aback. "That’s not necessary. I can pay for myself."
Thomas said, "Consider it a housewarming gift from me."
It was such an extravagant gift! It was in the millions!
Nora's eyebrows knitted together. "Thomas, this gift is too much!"
He looked at her intently. "Nora, you saved my life. Nothing I give could ever match that value."
Nora fell silent.
His words were always as sweet as honey.
She made a mental note to repay his kindness at the earliest opportunity; the guilt of not doing so gnawed at her from within.
After Noe had settled the bill, the group left the furniture megastore.
"Mommy, are we heading home now?" Samantha asked, her eyes longing to stay amid the vibrant neon lights illuminating the night.
The evening had been a blast to Samantha, thanks to Nora and Aaron's company.
Nora gently pinched Samantha's smooth cheek and glanced at the boys. "Do you guys want to keep having fun?"
The brothers exchanged a look. Alex remained his usual cool self while Billy chuckled and nodded eagerly.
"Yeah."
Shopping had never been their thing, but exploring the city with Mr. Gordon felt like family time – and that was a blast!
"How about we hit the amusement park then?" Aaron suggested, breaking the silence.
Nora blinked, slightly taken aback, and checked the time. It was around eight o'clock.
"Isn't the amusement park closed by now?"
"We can get it opened even if it's closed!" Aaron quipped with a knowing smile, glancing at Noe.
Noe got the hint and promptly dialed up a contact from a local amusement park.
"The amusement park is a go! Mr. Gordon, you're amazing!" Samantha gleamed with admiration, convinced there was nothing beyond Aaron's reach.
She leaned into Aaron's side and planted a kiss on his cheek.
The boys, too, had that twinkle in their eyes, sharing a single thought.
If only they were girls, they mused. Then, they could openly show their affection for Mr. Gordon, just like Samantha, without any embarrassment.
Nora watched the scene unfold, holding her tongue.
Once Noe had coordinated everything and they were loading into the car, she turned to Aaron and said, "Thomas, you shouldn't spoil Samantha; it's not good for her."
She harbored a fear that if Aaron were to leave their lives, Samantha might end up a spoiled little princess.
"I'll take full responsibility if she's spoiled," Aaron replied, his lips barely parting.
God, could this man not speak to her with such tender and heartfelt tones! Nora rolled her eyes as if she didn't catch his implication and got into the car.
The drive to the amusement park was filled with the kids' joyful chatter. Even reserved, Alex wore excitement like a bright badge in his wide eyes.
Nora stopped worrying, opting instead to bask in the children's happiness.
They finally arrived at the amusement park, which Nora had expected to be shrouded in darkness.
Surprisingly, the park was brightly lit. The Ferris wheel turned slowly against the night sky, machines whirred to life, and staff members awaited them respectfully.
This unexpected night out turned into an illuminated adventure they'd never forget.
As Nora shot Aaron a glance, her heart swelling with emotion once again.
They owed this glorious moment to him!
"What should we play first?"
Samantha's excitement was palpable as she looked from one attraction to the next.
"I want to go on the roller coaster."
"I want to ride the pirate ship."
The two brothers, being boys, naturally gravitated toward the more thrilling rides.
Nora thought for a moment – they were still young; surely they couldn't go on those rides yet.
"Sweethearts, you're too young for the roller coaster and the pirate ship."
The brothers looked somewhat disappointed.
Billy pondered for a moment, then suggested, "How about we go to the bumper cars?"
Alex nodded in agreement. "Yeah."
Samantha giggled and took Nora's hand. "Mommy, Mr. Gordon, let's go to the bumper cars!"
Nora smiled, and they made their way to the bumper car arena.
The children were too young to ride alone and needed adults to accompany them.
"So how are we going to do this? I can only take one of you with me," Nora said to her three little ones.
All three children looked at her, and from the side, Aaron offered, "I've got Noe here. We can each take one."
Nora hesitated. "You shouldn't be walking around with your leg like that."
Aaron raised an eyebrow defiantly. "Nora, I've already been horseback riding, haven't I?"
Nora fell silent.
"Mr. Gordon, take me with you!" Samantha's laughter filled the air as she bounded toward Aaron.
"Alright."
Aaron's lips curved into a slight smile as he pushed himself up from his wheelchair, his arms bracing the sides.
Noe and Nora rushed to help, but he waved them off.
He had all the strength he needed to accompany his newly recognized daughter on the bumper cars!
"Mr. Gordon can stand up! Let me help you," Samantha said, her eyes shining as she reached for Aaron's hand with her own small, soft one.
Aaron's eyes softened as he took her hand and entered the rink.
Watching the scene unfold, Nora's mind flashed back to a day at the Bescosarst stables.
She was deeply touched.
He could stand, not just in moments of danger but in joyful ones, too.
"Nora, let's go in," Noe chimed in.
Nora turned her attention back and nodded.
"Alex, you come with me."
"Okay," Alex agreed obediently.
"And Billy can go with Noe," Nora said.
Noe reached out his hand to Billy.
Billy agreed with delight and took Noe's hand as they joined the rest on the rink.
Three pairs in three cars.
The engines started. The air filled with the sound of tires rubbing against the ground mixed with the children's laughter.
Nora gripped the steering wheel, darting concerned glances at Aaron's leg, worried it might give him trouble.
But Aaron was the picture of calm, even deliberately steering his car toward hers in a collision course.
Snapping back to reality, Nora quickly swerved away.
Aaron's lips curled into a smirk, and he jerked the wheel again.
With a loud crash, Nora's car stalled.
However, Aaron's was still good to go.
Despite speechless, Nora restarted her engine quickly.
Aaron was relentless, chasing and ramming into her over and over again, either boxing her in or forcing her car to stall.
