Chapter 608 What Did You Do?
The assistant saw Nora and immediately showed a respectful expression, saying, "Ms. Smith."
At the charity banquet last time, Aaron publicly proposed to Nora, and now everyone knew that Nora was Aaron's fiancee.
"Is Mr. Gordon in the company?" Nora politely smiled.
"Yes, he is," the assistant replied.
Nora nodded and walked towards the direction of the elevator.
The two front desk staff glanced at each other and began to whisper, "The future lady boss is here. If she goes up, she will meet that Betsy, right?"
"That's for sure. I remember Mr. Gordon replaced Betsy as a spokesperson because of Nora. Why did he see Betsy again?"
"Yeah, you think Mr. Gordon might be swayed by beauty and give Betsy another chance?"
"Impossible! Mr. Gordon is not that kind of person. He just proposed to Nora, and the scene of the proposal in the news was moving. Mr. Gordon loves Nora very much."
"Maybe it's just for show. Men are basically fickle."
Nora didn't hear the conversation between the two front desk staff. She entered Mr. Gordon's exclusive elevator and went straight to the floor of the president's office.
Coming out of the elevator, she happened to see Johnnie walking towards her not far away.
Nora greeted him with a smile and said, "Johnnie, is Mr. Gordon in the office?"
Johnnie's eyes flashed with surprise. He said, "Ms. Smith, Mr. Gordon is in, but he is currently entertaining a guest."
Nora nodded. "He hasn't eaten yet. I'll wait for him in the reception room for a while. Help him order some easily digestible food, nothing too heavy."
Upon hearing this, Johnnie hesitated.
Nora, seeing this, asked, "What's wrong? Just say it."
Johnnie said, "Ms. Smith, Mr. Gordon has already placed a meal order."
As he said this, Nora understood.
She asked, "What did Aaron order, heavy dishes?"
"Yes, it's the dishes from Tranquil Oaks Estates, and some of them are indeed heavy," Johnnie replied truthfully.
Nora was a bit angry, saying, "Don't listen to Aaron. Cancel the heavy dishes and reorder some light food."
Johnnie nodded and said, "Alright. You wait in the reception room for a moment; I'll go report to Mr. Gordon that you're here."
Nora acknowledged and followed Johnnie to the reception room.
Johnnie closed the door, glanced at Nora, and ultimately said nothing.
Currently, Aaron was entertaining the former actress Betsy, who had terminated her contract with the company.
It was unclear why Aaron suddenly restored Betsy's position as a spokesperson.
Johnnie wanted to inquire, but considering he had just assumed the position of special assistant and wasn't as close to Aaron as Noe was, he kept quiet.
Nora waited in the reception room for a while, and soon Johnnie came and let her into the president's office.
As Nora left the reception room and walked towards the president's office, she saw Betsy coming out from inside.
She paused, her brows furrowing instantly. She asked, "Why are you here?"
Betsy walked towards Nora gracefully, a hint of provocation in her eyes. "Mr. Gordon asked me to sign a contract."
Aaron asked Betsy to sign a contract. How could this be?
Aaron knew she didn't like Betsy, and the company had terminated their contract before. So, why did he sign Betsy again?
Nora's brows furrowed as she watched Betsy walk past her and leave directly. She wondered if it was her imagination, but Betsy's lips seemed slightly swollen.
Nora was a woman, too, and she knew what that swelling meant.
Betsy had been kissed by a man.
Could it be that Aaron had just kissed her in the president's office? No, Aaron was definitely not that kind of person.
Nora shook her head, trying to shake off those thoughts, but she still entered the president's office in confusion.
In the office, Aaron was sitting in the big chair working.
Seeing Nora come in, he said with a smile, "Nora, why are you here?"
Nora walked to his desk, her face expressionless. She said, "Aaron, tell me, why is Betsy here?"
Aaron said, "The company has a new product launch and needs a spokesperson, so I asked her to come and sign a spokesperson contract with the company."
He said it casually, but Nora's brows furrowed tightly.
She said, "Why did you choose Betsy as the image spokesperson in spite of her improper behavior?, After all, you had terminated her contract before."
Aaron chuckled, "Nora, don't be angry. There are some things I can't control. Betsy has a backer, and I need to do business with Betsy's backer, so I had to compromise and give her a spokesperson contract."
Nora looked at the man in front of her, her eyes probing. She asked, "Who is Betsy's backer?"
What kind of business partner required him to compromise like this?
In Nora's understanding, as long as she didn't like someone, Aaron wouldn't tolerate it for the sake of a deal. Even for the most important cooperation, he could give it up for her.
"Forget about it. Tell me, why did you suddenly come to the company?" Aaron stood up and reached out to embrace her, diverting the topic like that.
A faint scent of perfume drifted to Nora's nose.
It was the same perfume she had smelled on Betsy just now.
Nora's face darkened, pushing Aaron away, saying, "Aaron, what did you and Betsy do here just now?"
Aaron's gaze flickered slightly, looking innocent, saying, "I just invited her for a cup of coffee."
Nora stared at Aaron and said, "Even if you want to show some respect to Betsy's backer by giving her a spokesperson contract, you could have let your subordinates deal with Betsy. Why did you meet her personally? Aaron, you'd better make it clear; what did you and Betsy do here just now?"
Nora's pretty face turned cold, and Aaron looked at her for two seconds, then lowered his head to smell his shirt. He asked, "Nora, did you smell perfume? Don't misunderstand; Betsy's backer asked her to bring me a gift, and when she gave me the gift just now, she almost tripped, so I helped her. Maybe that's why I got her perfume on me."
Nora glared at Aaron, feeling inexplicably annoyed.
She was averse to doubting Aaron.
After all, Aaron was not the kind of person who acted on impulse.
But Betsy's swollen lips just now and the scent of perfume on Aaron made her unable to help but have wild thoughts.
"Alright, Nora, tell me, why did you come to the company to find me?" Aaron said, reaching out to embrace her.
Nora dodged instinctively. She said, "I'm just here to remind you not to eat heavy food. I've already had Johnnie cancel the heavy dishes you ordered and reorder some light food for you. You're busy; I'll leave first."
Nora couldn't stand the scent of perfume on Aaron, and she had no intention of staying to have a meal with him anymore.
Aaron watched her hurriedly leaving figure, his smile slowly fading, but a hint of amusement lingered at the corner of his mouth.
He thought, 'Baby, you have quite a temper!'
It was nice to change his taste for woman once in a while, but he couldn't tolerate her bad temper for long!
