Chapter 400 Little Thomas Isn't Happy

One year?

Aaron found himself perplexed, his voice echoing with confusion as he asked, "What?"

Nora's gaze was unwavering, her eyes clear as she spoke. "Thomas, give me one more year. If we're still together after a year, then I'll marry you."

Perhaps it was Jenny's provocation earlier in the day that had stirred something within Nora, making her believe in the possibility of marriage once more. A year seemed like a sufficient amount of time for her to decide whether or not to commit to the man standing before her.

The light in Aaron's blue eyes shimmered as he took in Nora's ethereal beauty. A smile tugged at his lips as he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close, while his other hand curled his pinky finger.

"Pinky promise," he said, his voice filled with a childlike innocence that seemed out of place for a man who was typically cold and proud.

Nora couldn't help but be amused by his antics. "How old are you? Why are you playing this?" she asked, her voice laced with laughter.

Aaron's response was immediate. "I don't care. You've finally given me hope. We must do this formally; hurry up!"

Despite her speechlessness, Nora complied, extending her pinky finger to seal their promise. Aaron's smile widened as he pulled her closer, his hand resting on her soft waist while he leaned down to capture her lips in a kiss. His teasing was particularly bold today, perhaps due to his elevated mood, leaving Nora dizzy and flushed.

Just as their moment was heating up, a child's voice echoed through the house. "Mommy, is it time yet? Can we remove the medical equipment from Millie's body?" Billy, having not seen his mother for a while, had come down to remind her.

His small figure appeared at the kitchen door, causing Nora to quickly pull away from Aaron, her face flushed with embarrassment.

"I understand. You go upstairs and keep your sister company. I'll be right there," she managed to say, her voice slightly hoarse and filled with an allure that was difficult to detect. Billy obediently greeted Aaron before scampering back upstairs.

Aaron watched him leave, a sense of excitement coursing through him. He moved closer to Nora, wrapping his arms around her from behind and planting a soft kiss on her earlobe.

"Still playing coy!" he teased, causing Nora to pull away playfully. "Nora, don't be shy. The children have seen how affectionate we are before."

"You say that, but give me the medicine to look at!" Nora quickly excused herself, her face still hot as she made her way upstairs.

Aaron couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction, his mood buoyant. He was determined to please his woman that night, aiming to break his record of seven times in one night.

However, his plans were thwarted when he found Nora asleep in Millie's room. He stood outside the locked door, feeling a sense of helplessness wash over him. He retreated to his room, pulling out his phone to message Nora.

Aaron: [Wife, come back!]

Soon, he received a reply message from Nora.

Nora: [I'll sleep with Millie tonight.]

Aaron: [What about me?]

Nora: [Sleep by yourself.]

Aaron looked very unhappy and glanced at a certain part of his body. Then, with his slender fingers, he typed a line of words.

Aaron: [Little Thomas is not happy!]

Nora: [Get lost!]

Seeing Nora's cold response, Aaron tossed his phone aside, reluctantly putting away the box of condoms he had prepared. His hopes of breaking a record that night were dashed.

'Damn it,' he thought, his mood deflated.

A few days later, the children were officially enrolled in Lindwood City Kindergarten.
Millie was a year younger than the three kids, and even though she wasn't old enough to attend school, the Hamilton family used their connections to help her enrol in the kindergarten with the other children. They hoped that the camaraderie would provide her with emotional support and help her overcome the trauma of losing her parents.

With the constant companionship of the other children Millie's demeanor began to change. Her smiles became more frequent, and her spirit seemed to revive.

Around the same time, a scandal was brewing within the Turner's Group's charity organization. The girls they had rescued turned to the police, accusing Ken, a member of the organization.

The authorities promptly launched an investigation. However, Ken had already fled the country, leaving the domestic police powerless to apprehend him.

Unexpectedly, the situation took a dramatic turn. Ken, now overseas, was brutally attacked and left barely alive on the doorstep of a local police station. He was subsequently deported back to the country.

In response to the scandal, Fabio held a press conference. He announced that the Turner Group and family had severed all ties with Ken and urged the authorities to handle the matter impartially and punish the guilty party severely. The Turner's Group also compensated all the victims.

Eventually, Ken was arrested and imprisoned. Given the extent of his illegal activities, it seemed likely that he would face the death penalty.

Upon hearing the news, Nora felt a wave of relief wash over her. Ken had brought this upon himself and deserved to be punished by the law. However, she couldn't help but wonder who had been powerful enough to attack Ken overseas.

The answer came from Aaron.

"Your dad had someone do it," he revealed. "Ken had ordered the kidnapping of his grandson, so your dad was holding a grudge."

With this revelation, Nora felt a warmth spread through her.

Around the same time, James returned to the country, nursing injuries. Upon learning that the Woodhouse family had adopted Millie and that she would be living with Nora, he expressed his gratitude to both Nora and Aaron.

After observing Millie for two days and seeing her comfortably integrated into Nora's small family, he returned to the Rochester Society, assuming a leadership role.

As the days turned into weeks, Nora found herself immersed in treating Ryan and Millie, leading a fulfilling yet leisurely life.

Once Ryan's treatment was complete and he was discharged from the hospital, Nora continued to visit him daily for follow-up care.

One day, Kenneth had to leave for a business trip and asked Nora to accompany his wife, Sandy, for a prenatal check-up. Nora agreed without hesitation.

Driving Frederick's car, Nora picked up Sandy from the Hamilton residence. As they settled into the car, Sandy turned to Nora with a smile, "Nora, you don't have to trouble yourself. I can go alone."

Nora responded, "What trouble? Kenneth asked me to accompany you because he cares about you!"

Sandy's smile faded as she gently touched her still-flat belly, falling silent.

The child was nearly three months old now. During this time, Kenneth had been incredibly supportive. He had brought her sour plums to alleviate her morning sickness and had even ventured out in the middle of the night to satisfy her craving for barbecue. He had shared the difficult-to-drink nourishing soup that her mother-in-law insisted she have for the baby's nutrition.

These small acts of kindness had gradually won her over, and she found herself thinking about him more and more.
