Chapter 1005 A Master

James started acting up again.

Hugo shouted, "Shut up! Who said you could talk?"

James sneered, ready to fire back.

Aaron gave him a calming look. James held his tongue.

Aaron continued, "Millie's school break is coming up. Let's wait on deciding if she should come with us. She can stay here for a month, then go back with us for a month. Before school starts, we'll ask her where she wants to study and respect her choice."

James agreed. "Alright, I'm good with that." With Jasmine around, he wasn't worried Millie wouldn't want to go with them.

Aaron nodded and looked at Hugo.

Hugo disagreed. "No way."

Aaron squinted. "Why not?"

Hugo said, "Millie is part of our family. If I don't have kids, my business will depend on her."

It turned out Hugo was worried about his infertility.

Aaron said, "Hugo, don't you trust Nora's medical skills?"

"It's not that I don't trust her, I just need a guarantee."

Hugo thought, 'What if I can't be cured? Won't I regret it?'

"Hugo, if Millie wants to move back with us, and if Aisha still isn't pregnant in two years, you can take Millie back. Neither Nora nor I will stop you," Aaron said.

Hugo met Aaron's eyes, his expression softening a bit, but he still looked troubled.

"What, you don't trust me? Afraid I won't keep my promise?" Aaron put his arm around Nora. "I swear on the child in Nora's belly that I won't go back on my word."

Nora was surprised but stayed silent. Aaron had full faith in the medical skills she taught Seraphina and he was sure Hugo's infertility could be cured.

"Mr. Gordon, it's not that I don't trust you, but Millie is part of our family. Even though I have a say, Diego and Mia won't agree to let you take her." Hugo mentioned Diego and Mia, looking troubled. "With Stov gone, Diego and Mia only have Millie as their bloodline. They won't want to let her go."

Nora smirked. "Really? Doesn't Mia dislike Millie? I think Mia would be happy for us to take her."

Hugo said, "But Diego is the head of the family, Mia's opinion doesn't count."

Nora said, "Sometimes the insignificant people do unexpected things."

Aaron nodded. "Nora's right. With Mia around, Millie is in danger. Unless Mia truly accepts Millie, we can't leave her here safely."

Hugo was silent for a moment. "Don't worry, I'll make sure Diego talks to Mia and treats Millie well."

Nora was skeptical. "Let's wait until we meet them today."

"I've already called them. They're home all day, so you can visit anytime," Hugo said, glancing at the time.

Aaron noticed Hugo had other business. "You have something to do now, right?"

"Yeah, I have an important meeting."

"Alright, go ahead. We'll meet them this afternoon."

"Sounds good." Hugo nodded and got ready to leave, but not before giving James and Jasmine a cold look. His eyes were icy, and his gaze at Jasmine was no longer gentle, more like he was looking at a traitor.

Jasmine's eyes flickered, and she shrank behind James. James stood firm, meeting Hugo's gaze head-on.

Hugo snorted and left with strides.

After Hugo left, Aisha turned to Jasmine. "So Hugo threatened you with your family?"

Jasmine nodded, looking guilty. "Mrs. Rochet, I'm sorry. My vanity led me to interfere in your relationship with Hugo, almost ruining your marriage. I apologize."

Aisha's tone was calm. "I can't say I don't blame you, but I won't put all the blame on you. A man's cheating isn't always the woman's fault."

Aisha was fair-minded and didn't nitpick over every little thing.

Jasmine felt even more ashamed. "Thank you, Mrs. Rochet, for not holding it against me."

Aisha looked at her. "You have a good future ahead. Live well with Mr. Franklin."

Jasmine glanced at James, a shy smile on her face. "I will."

Seeing the affection between Jasmine and James, Aaron raised an eyebrow and whispered to Nora, "Not bad, in just two months, James has won over Jasmine. Who knew he had such skills?"

Nora smiled, noticing a red mark on James's neck. As someone experienced, she knew what that meant. Jasmine and James had been intimate last night. No wonder James suddenly announced their relationship. Maybe he was anxious seeing Millie being bullied and decided to go all out to win over Jasmine. Congrats to him!

Nora thought she had a knack for matchmaking. Everyone around her was pairing up! Would she get to attend all their weddings?

"Mr. Gordon, Dr. Smith, we'll go pack our things first," James said.

"Leaving today?" Aaron asked.

"Yeah."

Aisha said, "Where will you stay? If you don't have a place, you can stay at our house for now."

"No need, we've imposed on you too long already." James declined politely, looking at Jasmine as he held her hand. "I want to meet Jasmine's parents later."

James's gaze was deep, and he held Jasmine's hand tightly. His fingertips were slightly calloused and seemed damp.

Jasmine looked up and asked, "Are you hot? Your hands are sweaty."

James shook his head. "No, I'm just nervous."

Nervous? Nora couldn't help but laugh. James, a tough guy who wouldn't blink on the battlefield, was nervous about meeting his future in-laws.

Aaron smiled and patted James on the shoulder. "Stay calm. As someone who's been through it, let me give you a tip."

James perked up, eager to hear. "What tip?"
