Chapter 982 Who Was More Suitable for Johnnie
"Hey, I'm Gabriella, Johnnie's girlfriend," Gabriella cut in, smiling as she introduced herself.
Susan's smile faltered. She glanced at Johnnie, her smile turning a bit strained. "Johnnie, you have a girlfriend now?"
Johnnie looked at Gabriella, swallowing the word "client."
Gabriella smiled, tightening her grip on his arm, pressing close to him.
"Yeah, we haven't been together long, but we really feel something for each other. Right, honey?" Johnnie just smiled, not confirming or denying.
Seeing Susan's look, Johnnie shifted his gaze to the hospital bill in her hand."Let me take those."
"Oh."Susan handed over the documents, looking a bit distracted.
Johnnie pulled his arm free from Gabriella, took the documents, and glanced at them. There were quite a few charges.
"I'll transfer the money to you."
"It's okay, no rush."
"Give me an account number."
Susan looked at him. "Don't you have my contact info? Just transfer it directly."
Johnnie nodded and took out his phone to search.
He had many contacts and couldn't find it right away. "What's your username again?"
Though they were neighbors, they didn't contact each other much, so he couldn't remember.
"Seriously, Johnnie, you don't remember my username?" Susan pouted, playfully complaining.
She leaned over. "Let me help you find it."
Johnnie tried to recall. "Isn't it 'Dandelion in the Moonlight'?"
Susan laughed. "You finally remembered?"
Johnnie smirked. "Yeah, it's pretty cheesy, so it's memorable."
Susan playfully slapped him. "Johnnie, how could you call my username cheesy? It has a story behind it."
Johnnie kept scrolling, casually asking, "What story?"
"Not telling you." Gabriella's eyes flashed. Her intuition told her Susan liked Johnnie.
"I bet Ms. Hicks' story involves a man!"
Susan nodded. "Yes, a man I liked once watched dandelions dance in the moonlight with me. It was beautiful and romantic, so I chose that name."
Susan glanced at Johnnie, who was busy transferring money and didn't notice.
But Gabriella did. Gabriella looked Susan up and down. Simple white T-shirt and denim skirt. Would Johnnie like this kind of woman?
She remembered Johnnie saying he liked women who were a bit more sexy. But who knew if he was just humoring her?
Randy, watching the three, had a thoughtful look.
Johnnie wasn't young anymore, and he and Vilma had been eager for him to find someone and get married. But Johnnie always said he was too busy to date.
He thought Johnnie would stay single forever, but suddenly a girlfriend appeared. And it seemed like Susan liked Johnnie too.
Johnnie's luck with women had arrived!
Randy discreetly observed Gabriella and Susan. Gabriella was strikingly beautiful, while Susan was cute. Which one was more suitable for Johnnie?
"Ms. Hicks, if you have things to do, go ahead. Johnnie and I can stay with Randy while Vilma is in surgery," Gabriella said, trying to take charge.
"It's fine. Vilma and Randy have always been good to me. Now that Vilma is in trouble, I'll stay here with her," Susan replied. "Besides, I work at the hospital and know the doctors. If anything happens to Vilma, I can help."
Gabriella noticed Susan's persistence and her glances at Johnnie. Johnnie even smiled gratefully at Susan, which annoyed Gabriella.
"Are you cursing Vilma by saying that, Ms. Hicks?" Gabriella snapped.
Susan panicked. "Johnnie, I didn't mean that at all."
Johnnie frowned, glanced at Gabriella, and tried to smooth things over. "I know, Susan. Gabriella grew up abroad and isn't very good with words. Don't take it to heart."
Susan forced a smile and stayed quiet.
Gabriella noticed Johnnie's reproachful look and felt a surge of anger. Johnnie said she wasn't good with words? Ridiculous. She had said it on purpose because she didn't like how gently Johnnie spoke to Susan. He never spoke to her that way. Either he was silent or his words were sharp.
Gabriella couldn't help but recall Johnnie's hurtful comments about her being promiscuous. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Suppressing her emotions, she said, "I'm going to the restroom."
Watching Gabriella walk away, Johnnie frowned.
Susan's eyes flashed. "Johnnie, your girlfriend seems to have a bit of a temper."
Indeed, she suddenly got angry.
"Dad, I'll go check on her."
"Wait a moment," Randy said, pulling him aside. "Johnnie, is she really your girlfriend?"
Johnnie hesitated. "We haven't been together long, why?"
Randy said, "Johnnie, you're our only son. Your mom has a gentle temperament and might not like a strong-willed and quirky daughter-in-law."
Randy didn't directly disapprove of Gabriella, but Johnnie got the message. Randy didn't think highly of her.
"Dad, let's talk about this later. I'll go check on her first."
Randy nodded. "Congratulations, Randy. Johnnie finally has a girlfriend. You don't have to worry about him staying single anymore," Susan said.
Randy smiled. "Who knows? They've only been together a short time. That girl is too beautiful; I'm afraid Johnnie can't handle her. They might break up soon."
Randy glanced at Susan meaningfully. "I still think Johnnie should marry a quiet girl like you. It's more reliable for a long-term relationship."
Susan felt a surge of joy. It seemed Randy didn't favor Gabriella. Did she still have a chance?
In the restroom, Gabriella washed her hands, adjusted her outfit, and walked out. Seeing Johnnie waiting outside, she gave him a cold look and walked past him without a word.
Johnnie grabbed her wrist and pulled her into an empty stairwell.
"What are you doing?" Gabriella said unhappily.
Johnnie pushed her into a corner and asked, "What are you doing?"
