Chapter 745 She Was the One

The next morning, Aaron received a call from Jane.

"Mr. Gordon, I watched the video you gave me. At the moment, it's impossible to convict Jesse based on this video alone. It would be best to obtain actual evidence of his crimes," Jane said.

Aaron replied, "I know, but obtaining evidence of his crimes is not an easy task."

"Yes, people like them won't easily trust anyone. If we can find someone to infiltrate their inner circle and become his most trusted person, it might be easier," Jane suggested.

Aaron had also thought about this, finding someone to act as a police informant.

But finding such a person wasn't easy.

After hanging up, Aaron pondered Jane's words.

Who could be recruited as a police informant to become Jesse's most trusted person?

"Who was on the phone?" Nora came downstairs, stifling a yawn.

"Awake?" Aaron snapped out of his thoughts, his expression softening instantly.

Nora gave him a look, clearly annoyed.

It was almost ten o'clock now.

Last night, Aaron had been pestering her in bed because she had worn a low-cut dress, and he wouldn't stop until she promised not to wear such revealing clothes in the future.

Of course, even if Nora agreed, Aaron didn't really stop.

He made her tired enough to curse.

Aaron got up, gallantly pulled out a chair for Nora, and brought over the breakfast that had been kept warm in the kitchen.

Nora wasn't shy either, as she was currently experiencing intense hunger.

"Who was on the phone?" Nora asked with her mouth full.

"It was Jane," Aaron replied.

Nora swallowed her food. "What did she say?"

Aaron's expression turned serious. "She said that the footage I recorded last night was of no use. To catch Jesse, it would be best to find an informant to infiltrate his inner circle and become his most trusted person. I'm thinking about who could handle this job."

This person had to be loyal and sharp-witted to gain Jesse's trust.

It wasn't an easy task.

Usually, only professionally trained law enforcement officers could handle it.

Nora took a bite of her sandwich, searched her mind, but couldn't think of anyone who could take on this heavy responsibility.

Her thoughts were similar to Aaron's.

Finding a reliable informant to infiltrate Jesse's inner circle was no easy task.

At that moment, a message came in on her phone.

Nora glanced at it and saw it was a voice message from Becky.

She opened it, hearing Becky's excited voice.

Becky: [Nora, remember what I said? Sunny thought everything would be fine with Jesse backing her up. In the end, she almost got tortured to death by Jesse!]

Sunny almost got tortured to death by Jesse.

Nora blinked, and then Becky sent a few photos.

The photos showed Sunny lying in a hospital bed.

Sunny looked pale, her eyes closed tightly, appearing barely conscious.

Nora was surprised and sent a voice message back,

Nora: [How did you find out?]

Becky: [Lucas' aunt isn't feeling well, so she arranged to transfer to a private hospital in Lindwood City. I had some free time today, so I went with to visit her at the hospital.]

Becky: [I overheard the nurses whispering, saying that Sunny was severely abused by a man last night, and if she had been brought to the hospital any later, she would have died.]

Becky: [And she was also injured in the uterus, which could potentially affect her ability to have children in the future. I managed to find out which room Sunny was in and went to verify it, and indeed, it was her!]

Becky: [As a fellow woman, I can't help but sympathize with her. She must have suffered a lot, but she brought it on herself by impersonating you.]

Becky recounted the incident, and after Nora listened, she smirked.

Indeed, this was the consequence of messing up with Nora.

After chatting casually with Becky for a bit, Nora continued eating.

Aaron listened to the conversation and asked, "Jesse tortured Sunny?"

Nora sighed and wiped her eyes, "Yes, let me shed a tear of sympathy first."

Aaron chuckled. "She must be regretting it now."

Nora tilted her head to look at him. "Aaron, if she were given another chance, would she impersonate me again five years ago?"

Aaron paused for a moment. "A normal woman probably wouldn't unless she's a masochist or extremely desperate for money. Sunny doesn't seem to be either of those."

Nora took a sip of milk and nodded.

People only truly repented after experiencing certain things.

If given another chance, as long as Sunny was mentally sound, she would probably just want to live a normal life peacefully.

The two fell silent for a moment.

Suddenly, Nora spoke up, "Aaron, what do you think about making Sunny a police informant?"

Aaron was taken aback. "Making her an informant?"

A hint of cunning flashed in Nora's eyes. "Yes, she's the one!"

At the hospital, Sunny's friend Bonnie Peterson looked at the still unconscious Sunny, tears streaming down her cheeks, her eyes red.

Sunny had just slept with a man; how could this have happened?

Sunny was almost tortured to death.

Her lower body was severely torn; it was truly heartbreaking.

Bonnie wanted to report it, but she didn't dare.

Because the one who tortured Sunny, Jesse, was her benefactor.

At that moment, Sunny on the hospital bed began to stir, slowly opening her eyes.

Bonnie was overjoyed and said, "Sunny, you're finally awake."

Sunny had just woken up, her eyes still a bit hazy.

She moved her body, but the movement pulled at her wounds, causing her to frown in pain.

"It hurts," Sunny said.

Her voice was hoarse, almost unrecognizable. Bonnie quickly said, "Sunny, don't move; let me get you some water."

Sunny swallowed and closed her eyes, feeling intense pain all over her body.

Bonnie brought her some water and gently lifted her head, letting her take a few sips.

As Sunny drank the water, her thoughts gradually became clearer.

Images of the nightmare-like scene from last night flashed through her mind.

The pain that penetrated the bone caused Sunny's eyes to suddenly fill with fear, turning a stark red.

Even when she passed out last night, Jesse didn't stop.

The sadist woke her up again, tormenting her until she passed out once more, barely clinging to life.

Only then did Jesse wake her up again, instructing her to inform Bonnie and bring her to the hospital.

Sunny had no idea Jesse could be so twisted!

She had never known!

A knock on the door sounded, and a nurse entered with a stack of documents in hand.

"These are the examination forms and payment receipts; please keep them safe."

The nurse handed the stack of papers to Bonnie, her eyes filled with sympathy as she looked at Sunny on the hospital bed.

Bonnie wanted to put away the documents, but Sunny struggled to sit up weakly and said, "Let me see the examination form."

Bonnie hurried over to help her up, hesitated for a moment, then handed her the form.

As Sunny flipped through the papers, she suddenly saw a line on one of the forms stating that her cervix had suffered cervical damage due to violence, causing her fingers to tighten suddenly.
