Chapter 613 Who Is the Mask, After All?
"Richard, Evella is my girlfriend now," Howard steadied his emotions and spoke.
Richard glanced at him, saying, "And then?"
Howard thought, 'Evella has a boyfriend now, so don't try to matchmake for her anymore; Don't create a rival for him!'
Of course, Howard could only vent this in his mind.
Outwardly, he still had to be respectful.
"As long as you agree, I will propose to her tomorrow," Howard said.
Richard toyed with his teacup and said another infuriating remark, "I don't agree."
Howard choked, feeling regretful and wronged.
He shouldn't have unthinkingly opposed and provoked Richard. But he thought he was quite innocent.
How could he have known that Richard was Evella's uncle?
"Richard, what do I need to do for you to agree to Evella marrying me?" Howard asked.
Richard said, "It depends on your behavior. If you treat Evella poorly, I will take her away at any time. Besides, Evella has a lot of high-quality men around her."
Howard said quickly, "Richard, please rest assured, I will definitely treat Evella well."
Listening to the confrontation between the two, Evella interrupted their conversation, "Alright, stop bringing up my marriage all the time; I'm still young and don't want to get married."
Richard looked at Howard, saying, "You heard that Evella doesn't want to marry you yet."
It meant there were many variables in the future.
Who knew if Evella would change her mind while dating Howard?
It all depended on how Howard captured Evella's heart.
Howard understood that he must seek advice from Aaron in private to learn how to grasp Evella's heart firmly.
And now, he had to win over Richard first!
With that in mind, Howard stood up, opened a bottle of wine, and poured a glass for Richard.
Richard raised his hand, saying, "Drinking alone is no fun."
Howard's pouring hand hesitated slightly, and he asked, "How about I drink with you?"
Richard raised an eyebrow, asking, "Can you handle alcohol?"
"Of course," Howard replied. He didn't want to be looked down upon; even though he rarely drank, he had to pretend to be able to hold his liquor now.
"Howard, don't you have surgeries this afternoon?" Evella asked.
"There are no surgeries scheduled for today," Howard replied, then added, "Even if there were surgeries scheduled, I would cancel them to accompany Richard."
"Don't do that. Dinner is trivial, and work is important," Richard said. He knew Howard was trying to please him, and although he said that, he was quite pleased inside.
Howard smiled and poured a glass for Richard, then poured one for himself, saying, "Richard, I was offensive before, not knowing who you are; Please accept my apology"
Evella watched on the side, unable to help but say, "Howard, don't drink so much."
Richard glanced at her and said, "Evella, everyone is dree to decide how much they drink."
Evella pouted and said, "Don't pressure Howard into drinking more than he wants to."
Richard felt a twinge of annoyance at Evella's early favoritism.
Richard complained in his heart, looked at Howard, and deliberately asked, "Did I pressure you to drink?"
Howard, of course, had to show some respect to Richard. He said, "No, I chose to drink of my own accord."
Richard was satisfied, saying, "Did you hear that?"
Evella rolled her eyes and said to Howard, "Don't get drunk."
Howard chuckled, "It's okay; I'm happy today, Richard, and I won't return sober. Here, Richard, I toast to you."
Richard was quite satisfied with Howard's straightforwardness and clinked glasses with him.
Both of them finished their drinks in one go.
Nora sat calmly on the side throughout the meal, watching how Howard would win Richard's favor.
She felt that Howard would definitely get drunk this afternoon.
But there was no way around it; he had offended Richard severely before.
Getting drunk might help him open Richard's heart.
The phone rang, and a message came in.
Nora glanced at it; it was a message from Becky.
Becky: [Nora, what's going on? How come I heard that Gordon's group has signed Betsy again?]
Hearing Betsy's name, Nora's originally good mood was shattered.
Thinking back to Betsy's challenging look outside Aaron's CEO office at noon, along with Aaron's words, she felt agitated.
What kind of backer did Betsy have that made Aaron wary?
A masked face flashed in her mind suddenly.
At the charity banquet, the Mask appeared with Betsy. Could Mask be Betsy's backer?
Who was the Mask?
Suddenly, another thought struck Nora, her eyes flickering.
Previously, at Rachel's birthday party, she received a photo from Jenny.
In the photo, the man resembled Aaron and the woman resembled Betsy.
The man who looked like Aaron could be the Mask.
"Nora, why are you daydreaming? Why aren't you eating?" Evella saw Nora staring at her phone in a daze, so she put some salad in her plate and curiously asked.
Nora snapped out of it and said with a smile, "It's nothing."
She replied to Becky.
Nora: [I heard that Betsy has a backer. Help me keep an eye out and see if you can find out who the backer behind her is.]
Becky sent a few exclamation marks.
Becky: [Betsy found a backer so quickly, and Mr. Gordon even made a compromise with Betsy's backer, allowing Betsy to go back to the entertainment industry. This backer has quite a background! This Betsy is quite capable.]
Indeed, Betsy was truly capable.
Nora sighed inwardly. Thinking of the scent she smelled on Aaron, she felt restless again.
Had Betsy used some disgusting trick to bewitch Aaron's mind?
Such wild thoughts flashed by momentarily, and Nora absentmindedly continued eating, watching Howard speak in a slurred manner due to alcohol, starting to call Richard brother.
Because Howard had drunk too much, he was getting disoriented.
Nora couldn't help but chuckle and recorded a short video of this scene.
She decided to show it to Howard when he sobered up.
The meal lasted for over two hours.
Of course, Nora and Evella had finished eating long ago, and they were watching Howard and Richard drink.
Unexpectedly, after drinking too much, Howard was quite talkative, constantly chatting with Richard.
Richard had also consumed a fair amount of alcohol and was slightly drunk.
But he was experienced; although slightly intoxicated, he wasn't drunk, probing Howard for information continuously.
He was inquiring about the lifestyle of the Hamilton family.
Howard, under the influence of alcohol, began to spill everything.
Of course, even if he hadn't been drinking, he would have had to say everything when Richard asked.
