Chapter 796 Gentle Flower

Edward was taken aback and looked Betsy up and down.

"You know me?"

Betsy smiled warmly. "Yes, you once came with Mr. Patel to listen to me sing."

Betsy had received a message from Nora instructing her to stage a chance encounter with Edward, thus officially starting her plan to seduce him.

Edward had no idea he had already fallen into Betsy's gentle trap.

He thought for a moment and then realized, "You're Betsy?"

Edward had only attended one performance, and Betsy had been in makeup at the time, so he hadn't recognized her.

"That's me."

Betsy smiled slightly, but the movement tugged at the wound on her forehead, causing her to wince and sway a little.

"Careful."

Edward quickly reached out to steady her.

"Thank you, Mr. Bishop. I'm fine, just a bit dizzy."

Betsy feigned weakness.

"You should go to the hospital to get that wound checked," Edward suggested.

Betsy hesitated. "I'd need to trouble Mr. Bishop's driver to take me to the hospital. I'm afraid I can't drive in this condition. And we should also sort out the car issue. Your car is so expensive; if it's not properly resolved, I might not have the heart to sing anymore."

Betsy frowned as she looked at the damaged rear of the car, appearing distressed.

Edward understood. Although the car could be insured, his car was a million-dollar luxury vehicle, and even a scratch could cost ten thousand dollars to fix.

Moreover, since Betsy was at fault, the insurance company wouldn't cover the full amount.

Edward glanced at the car's rear; the damage wasn't too severe.

But it would likely be a significant amount for Betsy.

Edward said, "It wasn't intentional, so let's forget about the compensation."

Betsy's eyes lit up. "Mr. Bishop, you're such a kind person."

Edward smiled. "Come on, I'll take you to the hospital."

"Mr. Bishop, sorry for the trouble," Betsy said gratefully.

Edward gentlemanly opened the car door for her.

"Give your car keys to Wade and have him move your car to the side."

"Okay."

Betsy handed the car keys to Wade as instructed and then got into Edward's car.

Wade parked Betsy's car by the roadside and then drove them to the nearest hospital.

Edward didn't say much along the way.

Soon, he received a call from the butler.

"Mr. Bishop, Mrs. Bishop just woke up and is asking why you're not home. She's also insisting on calling Mr. Edric back."

Edward, feeling annoyed, brushed off the call with a few words and hung up.

Betsy, sitting beside him, noticed his expression and gently asked, "Mr. Bishop, you don't seem very happy. Is something wrong?"

Edward responded lightly, "Just some family matters."

Betsy softly said, "Don't frown. Take it easy."

She deliberately softened her voice, sounding gentle and tender, like a delicate flower.

Listening to her, Edward's initial irritation gradually dissipated.

"Betsy, you're not from Youston, are you?"

"No, I'm from Seaspring City," Betsy replied.

"Then why did you come to Youston? Is your boyfriend here?"

Edward asked casually.

"No, I don't have a boyfriend. I took a wrong path before, but fortunately, Mr. Patel helped me out, allowing me to make a living now," Betsy smiled slightly, explaining.

Edward glanced at her, a look of understanding in his eyes.

"Mr. Patel is a good person."

Betsy noticed the understanding in Edward's tone and quickly explained, "Mr. Bishop, don't get me wrong. Mr. Patel and I don't have that kind of relationship. He's just my benefactor, a respected senior. I'm very grateful to him."

Seeing her a bit anxious, Edward smiled and didn't probe further.

"Mr. Patel is indeed a kind person, always willing to help others."

"I think people in Youston are really nice. You, Mr. Patel, and Mr. Gordon, you're all very good people."

Betsy subtly complimented Edward.

Edward laughed heartily. "As a Youston, making guests from afar feel at home is a virtue."

Betsy smiled gently. "Indeed. Mr. Bishop, you seem like a very calm person."

Edward said, "Not really. I'm just older now and more relaxed. I wasn't easy to deal with when I was younger."

Betsy tilted her head and looked at him. "Mr. Bishop, you don't look old at all. If you didn't mention your age, you'd seem like a refined businessman in his late thirties."

Edward laughed heartily.

"Betsy, you really know how to talk."

Betsy giggled. "I'm sure I'm not the only one who says this. Anyone who meets you would feel the same. You really look young and have a great presence."

Edward kept smiling and nodded. "That's true."

Betsy said, "See, I told you!"

You had to admit that Betsy was very adept at socializing.

Every word and action won people's hearts, and within a few sentences, she had already closed the distance with Edward.

The two chatted casually along the way, and Edward's smile never faded.

That evening, Nora received a message from Betsy saying that things were progressing smoothly.

Edward had even arranged to meet her the next afternoon to listen to her sing.

Nora smirked, wondering when Fiona would notice something was amiss.

And what her reaction would be when she did.

Nora soon got her answer.

Edward had gone to listen to Betsy sing for three consecutive days.

Fiona finally sensed something was wrong.

Usually, Edward would always stay by her side, caring for her because of her poor health and Edric's attitude to her.

But in the past few days, Edward had been going out every afternoon and staying out for half a day.

When he returned in the evening, he was visibly happy.

But whenever Fiona mentioned Edric, Edward seemed distracted and even impatient.

Most notably, Edward's clothes carried the scent of a woman's perfume.

As a wealthy lady, Fiona was very sensitive.

These signs made Fiona immediately alert.

She secretly called the driver Wade to inquire and learned that Edward had been going to Oasis Lounge to listen to music at Oasis Lounge every afternoon.

Fiona felt something was off.

'Although Edward enjoyed music, he wasn't obsessed with it.'

'He wouldn't go to listen every day without fail.'

'And for an entire afternoon.'

Oasis Lounge was a place for men to eat, drink, and have fun.

As a wealthy lady, Fiona knew well how many shady things happened there.

So whether Edward was really listening to music or seeing a woman at Oasis Lounge was unclear.

Thinking about her aging appearance, Fiona became unsettled.

Although Edward had always been well-behaved, he had been quite the playboy in his younger days.

It was only because Fiona had a powerful family backing her that Edward didn't dare to act out.

But now, with Edric starting to take control and the Bishop family's status far surpassing her family's, Edward seemed to be having second thoughts.
