Chapter 810 You Were Quite Familiar with the Little girl, Aren't You?
He asked and she answered, filled with affection.
"Do you want me to come back and keep you company?" Aaron asked again.
Nora smiled. "No need; I'll go to the hospital to see Sandy after dinner. You go ahead with your work."
"Then I'll come to the hospital to pick you up when I'm done."
"Okay."
After hanging up, the servant brought all the dishes to the table.
Knowing that Nora loved vegetables, the servant prepared more vegetables.
Nora ate with a great appetite.
After finishing dinner, she asked Frederick to drive her to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Zephyr was waiting in his apartment for Jane's call.
But no matter how long he waited, she didn't call.
Zephyr couldn't sit still and finally dialed Jane's number.
The call connected quickly.
"Hello?"
"Officer Jane, when might you be free?"
Jane was taken aback, then realized. "Sorry, I almost forgot. I'm free now, so shall we go visit Doctor Hernandez?"
Zephyr responded, "Sure, where are you? I'll come pick you up."
"No need to pick me up; I'll go to the hospital myself," Jane said.
"No worries, wait for me for twenty minutes; I'll be right there."
Zephyr hung up, grabbed a bunch of gifts he bought for Sandy and Otis, and headed out.
He drove quickly to the precinct, parked the car, and called Jane to let her know he was at the entrance.
Soon, Jane came out of the police station.
She was wearing a casual shirt and cargo pants, walking briskly.
She got into the passenger seat of Zephyr's car.
"I still need to buy some gifts. Can you take me to a nearby mall?" Jane said.
Zephyr thought for a moment. "I bought a lot of baby supplies this afternoon; they're in the trunk. If you don't mind, you can pick a couple from there."
Jane's eyes lit up. "I don't mind at all. I'm terrible at picking gifts, so if someone has already chosen them for me, that's perfect."
Zephyr understood that someone like Jane, who was always focused on cases, probably didn't pay much attention to everyday matters.
He smiled and started the car.
Jane fastened her seatbelt, adjusted her hair, and glanced at Zephyr's refined and handsome face. She asked a question she had been wanting to ask.
"Dr. Wright, why do you insist on visiting Doctor Hernandez with me?"
Zephyr's eyes showed a hint of discomfort.
He paused and made up a reason. "Because I ran into you at the hospital and thought you might feel awkward visiting Sandy alone. Since I was going anyway, I thought we could go together."
Zephyr's words made it seem like he was considering her feelings.
Jane chuckled. "So you're looking out for me?"
Zephyr nodded. "You could say that."
Jane couldn't help but laugh."Then thank you."
Zephyr replied seriously, "You're welcome."
Jane was speechless. "You really take it seriously."
Zephyr smiled slightly but didn't say anything.
Jane adjusted the hair by her ear, somewhat understanding why Zephyr sought her out.
On one hand, she did know Sandy.
But mainly, Zephyr asking her to visit Sandy together actually eased his own awkwardness.
After all, Zephyr had a crush on Sandy, and now that Sandy had a baby, it wouldn't be appropriate for him to visit alone.
At that moment, Jane's stomach growled.
She frowned, instinctively touched her stomach, and swallowed.
Zephyr heard it and glanced at her. "Are you hungry?"
Jane replied, "I can bear it."
Zephyr didn't say anything, but instead of driving straight to the hospital, he turned onto a side street and finally parked in a lot.
"Why did you stop?" Jane asked, puzzled.
"You're hungry; let's get something to eat before going to the hospital."
Zephyr got out of the car and opened the door for Jane.
Jane looked at him, thinking Zephyr was quite considerate.
She got out of the car swiftly and followed Zephyr into a small restaurant.
It was mealtime, and the restaurant was quite busy, with many customers scattered around.
A TV on the wall was playing the news, and the air was filled with the aroma of food.
"Welcome!"
A girl in her twenties was greeting customers.
Seeing Zephyr, she greeted him with delight.
"Zephyr, you're here!"
Zephyr smiled and nodded. "Busy?"
"Not too bad; please have a seat!"
The girl led Zephyr to a window seat.
Zephyr pulled out a chair for Jane.
"Thank you," Jane said as she sat down.
The girl blinked and asked, "Zephyr, who is this lady?"
"My friend, Jane. Jane, this is Marlon Grant, the owner's daughter."
"Nice to meet you," Jane said with a smile.
"Nice to meet you."
Marlon returned the greeting and then asked while pouring coffee, "Is Jane Zephyr's girlfriend?"
Jane glanced at Zephyr and smiled. "No, we're just friends."
Marlon responded, "So Jane doesn't have a boyfriend?"
Jane replied honestly, "Not yet."
Marlon looked at her and then at Zephyr. "Zephyr is handsome and kind, Jane, don't you want to consider him?"
Zephyr was about to drink coffee and coughed lightly at her words. "Marlon, don't play matchmaker like Arnold Grant."
Marlon tilted her head. "I'm not playing matchmaker. Zephyr, you better not get a girlfriend because I want to try it with you after I graduate!"
Zephyr chuckled. "Marlon, stop joking and bring the menu."
Marlon handed him the menu and sighed, "No one believes the truth anymore!"
Zephyr ignored her and started ordering.
Jane took a sip of coffee, her eyes showing interest.
So Marlon was one of Zephyr's admirers.
Interesting.
"Jane, I've ordered a few dishes. See if you want to add anything." Zephyr handed Jane the menu.
"No need, I'm not picky. You decide," Jane said.
Zephyr had eaten with Jane before and knew she was straightforward, so he said little and returned the menu to Marlon.
"Alright, go ahead."
"Okay."
Marlon took the menu and added, "Zephyr, I'm serious. If you don't get a girlfriend, wait for me to graduate."
She winked and left.
Zephyr shook his head with a smile and took a sip of coffee.
Jane looked at him with a gossipy expression. "You seem quite familiar with that girl?"
