Chapter 1063 Why Not Tell the Family

Netizens were all about that gossip life. The moment they saw Samantha's pic, they started raving about Nora's killer looks again.

Samantha scrolled through the comments, feeling kinda stuck. With all this buzz, she knew her phone was about to blow up.

And, of course, it did. Millie was the first to hit her up.

Samantha sighed and picked up. "Hey, what's up?"

Millie jumped right in, "Sam, did you see the news? You're blowing up!"

Samantha replied, "Yeah, just saw it. Was about to ask Dad to get PR on it."

She really didn't want to be the talk of the town and needed this to die down, like, yesterday.

"No need to stress. Dad's already on it. He's got someone handling it," Millie assured her.

"Thank God." Samantha let out a relieved laugh.

"But heads up, they're probably gonna start grilling you soon," Millie chuckled.

As the car cruised along, Samantha glanced at Wesley, who was also on a call. Thinking about their recent heart-to-heart, she felt a little thrill.

Samantha turned slightly and whispered, "Just make sure you don't spill anything."

Even though she and Wesley had just confessed their feelings, she didn't want her family all up in their business. They were just starting out, and she wanted to keep it low-key.

"Sam, you were so protective of him; he must be feeling all the feels, right?" Millie teased.

"Yeah, not bad." Samantha felt a bit smug, thinking, 'Wesley must be over the moon. He's so into me.'

"Why not just tell him how you feel?" Millie pushed.

Samantha thought, 'I don't need to; he already knows.' But with Wesley right there, she kept it short.

"What did I tell you?" Samantha grinned.

"Still playing it cool?" Millie teased.

"Let's chat later. I'll fill you in when I get back." Samantha ended the call, only to hear her phone blowing up with notifications.

She checked it and saw the family group chat was going off.

Samantha opened it and saw a flood of messages. They were all talking about her standing up for Wesley.

At first, it was all good vibes. They were praising her for putting Robert in his place. Then Billy had to go and stir the pot.

Billy sent: [Sam, is your good mood because of this Wesley guy?]

Erin: [Is the guy Sam likes this singer Wesley?]

Alex: [He looks kinda basic.]

Aaron: [Not a fan of this singer.]

Nora: [Do you not like the singer, or do you just not like any guy near your daughter?]

Billy sent again: [Focus, people. Sam, is he the one you like?]

Samantha bit her lip, wanting to drag Billy through the screen and give him a piece of her mind. 'Billy, you're such a pain,' she thought.

"Who are you texting? Your phone's going nuts." Wesley, done with his call, leaned over.

Samantha quickly put her phone away and smiled. "Just my family."

She didn't mean anything by it, but Wesley thought, 'Is she hiding me because she's embarrassed?'

Wesley asked, "Did your family see the news and are they worried?"

"Yeah, Dad's already on it," Samantha said.

"So fast? How much do they not want to see us together?" Wesley looked at Samantha. "Did you tell your family we're dating?"

"Not yet," Samantha shook her head.

"Why not?"

"Because dating is our thing, and I don't want anyone else butting in. If I tell my family, they'll bombard me with questions," Samantha said honestly.

Wesley gave a half-hearted smile. "Samantha, your folks probably wouldn't be cool with us dating, right? You're this privileged girl, and I'm just some regular dude with no fancy background."

Samantha quickly jumped in, "Wesley, don't think like that. My parents are super chill. If I like someone, they're cool with it. Plus, you're not just some regular guy. You're a big star now. You've made it on your own, which is way better than those rich kids who just ride on their family's coattails."

Samantha meant every word, but Wesley wasn't convinced. He wanted to ask why she hadn't told Aaron and Nora if that was the case, but he held back.

Wesley thought Samantha probably just wanted to have some fun and didn't see him as a long-term thing.

For a moment, Wesley just smiled and kept quiet.

Elijah, sitting up front, listened to their convo, her fists clenching and unclenching.

Elijah thought, 'Sounds like Samantha's keeping their relationship on the down-low. Smart move, at least it won't mess with his career for now.'

The rearview mirror showed the two in the back seat. Elijah noticed Wesley's indifferent expression, looking kinda bummed.

Elijah's eyes shifted, and she smirked.

Since Wesley joined the company, Elijah had been his assistant. She knew him inside out.

Wesley was a mix of pride and insecurity. His sensitive nature made him overthink everything. Right now, he was probably wondering why Samantha wouldn't go public with their relationship.

Elijah suddenly felt this relationship wouldn't last long.

The car kept moving, and the driver asked Elijah where to next.

Elijah turned slightly and reminded, "Wesley, you have an appointment."

Wesley nodded and asked Samantha, "Where do you live? I'll drop you off first."

"No need, you go ahead. Just drop me off by the roadside," Samantha said. "I live in River View Estate, which isn't far. I'll grab a cab."

Wesley looked surprised. "You live in River View Estate too?"

Samantha nodded. "You too?"

"Yeah."

"What a coincidence." Samantha smiled.

Wesley held her hand, his gaze soft. "It'll be easier for us to hang out." Even though he felt weird about not telling her family, he did like her.

Samantha blushed and looked down shyly.

In the front seat, Elijah watched through the rearview mirror, her fingers slowly clenching.

Wesley still dropped Samantha off at the entrance of River View Estate. She got out and waved goodbye.

As the car drove away, Wesley watched Samantha's figure get smaller, a soft smile on his face.

Elijah saw this and felt a pang in her heart. "Wesley, what were you two talking about? Did I hear right, or are you really planning to date her?"
