Chapter 965 Was This an Engagement Gift?

"If it were that easy, I wouldn't be here. Cut the crap and just do what I asked."

Rafael, clearly annoyed, added, "By the way, Miguel sent something to your place. We'll celebrate when you get back."

Gabriella's face changed. He sent something to her house? Rafael was warning her, using her family as leverage.

In the conference room, Johnnie listened through his Bluetooth earpiece, his expression darkening. So Rafael was behind today's mess. Who else was Rafael working with? The Gordon Group had many competitors; who was causing trouble?

Johnnie thought about Rafael's last sentence. 'Miguel sent something to Gabriella's house, probably an engagement gift? Are they waiting for her to succeed and then get married?' His back ached, and he closed his eyes, swallowing his emotions.

In the car, Aaron looked at the unconscious man, frowning. "Honey, are you okay?"

Nora shook her head. "I'm fine, Mateo just protected me."

Aaron glanced at Mateo. "Thanks."

Mateo replied, "I didn't save you, so no need to thank me. Focus on today's situation." He kicked the man on the ground. "Someone has hatched this plot. They want to smear the Gordon Group and ruin our deal."

Aaron's eyes narrowed. He got out of the car and found a reporter. "Let me see the video you just shot."

The reporter hesitated. "Mr. Gordon, you're not going to ask us to delete it, are you? We're journalists; we have to report the news."

The media present were all mainstream outlets with good relations with the Gordon Group. They wouldn't report these videos without Aarpn's consent. But they didn't want to delete them either.

Aaron scanned the crowd. "I get it. Give me some time to investigate, and I'll let you report it."

The reporters agreed. Aaron took the video camera and got back in the car to replay the scene with Nora and Mateo. They watched closely.

Mateo pointed to a young man in the video. "This guy looks suspicious."

Aaron had noticed him too. The man had been hiding in the crowd, inciting trouble and handing out wooden sticks to escalate the situation.

Aaron's eyes turned cold. After watching the video, he called Frederick. "Interrogate this guy and find out who sent him."

Frederick quickly left after identifying the man.

"Honey, you wait here. I'll handle this," Aaron said.

"I'll go with you," Nora insisted.

"No, it's not safe," Aaron refused.

Nora argued, "Aaron, I'm your wife. I should face this with you."

"Plus, if I treat the injured now, it might help calm them down."

Aaron frowned. She had a point, but he was still worried about her safety.

Mateo chimed in, "She can come with us. I'll protect her."

Aaron shot him a look. "Do I need you to protect her?"

Mateo replied, "Yeah, you do. Remember, I just protected her."

Aaron gave him a cold look and ignored him.

Nora smiled. "Let's go in."

Aaron finally relented, wrapping his arm around her waist and helping her into the factory.

Tobias had arranged for the injured to be treated in a conference room by the factory doctor. He then asked the remaining people to choose a representative to meet with Aaron.

"Why meet Aaron alone? Does he want to break us one by one?" a young man protested.

"Wyatt, Isla, Jasper, and Aurora, don't fall for these capitalists' tricks," said Zachary Doyle, the suspicious man Aaron and Mateo had identified.

"Yeah, we should all go together!"

Zachary's proposal sparked a chorus of agreement from the crowd.

Tobias frowned. "Can't you see Mr. Gordon is trying to help? If it were me, I'd have called the police and had you all taken in. At the very least, you'd be charged with inciting a riot and spend a few days in jail."

"But he didn't call the police, which shows he's genuinely trying to solve the problem. With a leader like this, what more do you want?"

The group exchanged glances, momentarily silent.

Zachary shouted, "Tobias, stop being a mouthpiece. Aaron didn't call the police to protect the company's reputation, not to solve the problem."

Tobias was infuriated.

At that moment, Frederick strode in and grabbed Zachary.

"Stirring up trouble again? Let's have a chat!"

Zachary's face changed. "Let go of me! What are you doing? Did Aaron send you to silence me? Everyone, help me!"

The crowd blocked Frederick's path, shouting.

"Hey, let him go! What are you doing?"

At that moment, Johnnie appeared. "Do you want to solve the problem or not? If you do, negotiate with Mr. Gordon peacefully. If not, I'll call the police. Mr. Gordon has limited time and can't waste it here. You're trying his patience!"

His words were firm, and the crowd exchanged glances before stepping aside.

Frederick and Johnnie nodded to each other, then dragged the still-shouting Zachary away.

Tobias sighed in relief. "Who's going to represent you to meet Mr. Gordon?"

The group looked at Wyatt. "Wyatt, you should represent us."

"Yeah, Wyatt, you're clear-headed. Go negotiate and get justice for our kids!"

Wyatt nodded. "Alright, I'll go."

"Then follow me," Tobias said, leading Wyatt away.

At that moment, Gabriella approached. Seeing Johnnie's pale face, she grabbed his hand and walked away.
