Chapter 73 Does the Boss Favor Her?

Nora glanced at Noe and nodded.

"Thanks, Mr. Wilson."

"No worries."

Noe still remembered the ridicule from his boss the previous night.

He checked on Aaron, then assisted him into the restroom, starting to help him undress.

Today, the boss was seemed to be sparing Nora the extra strain and instead was putting him to work!

Aaron received his customary acupuncture treatment after Nora performed the medicinal bath.

She then massaged his legs, meticulous in her work, her professional demeanor evident.
They say men shine at work, which also seemed to apply to Nora.
Aaron watched the fine sheen of sweat on Nora's forehead with sympathy in his eyes.

"Nora, it's okay. The acupuncture treatment is over. Missing a few minutes of massage won't hurt," he reassured her.

But Nora didn't even lift her head, continuing her work determinedly.

"How can that be okay?” she responded earnestly. "Your treatment has to include a massage afterward to promote circulation. Even missing the smallest detail can make all the difference, and I don't want all my efforts to go to waste."

She was professional, taking her work seriously.

Aaron observed her intently and seeing a bead of sweat ready to trail down her temple, he quickly grabbed a tissue and gently wiped it away.

Nora instinctively looked up, meeting his eyes, a gentle expression softening her heart.
Why was he looking at her like that, as if he was extra concerned for her?

Distracted, she inadvertently tightened her grip.

Aaron's gaze fell on her delicate, pale fingers, his eyebrows arching.

"Nora, why did you suddenly apply more pressure?"

She remained silent.

Trying to regain her composure, Nora averted her eyes and gave herself a stern internal pep talk.

"I noticed some tension, so I applied a bit more strength, that's all."

Aaron allowed himself a smile.

His eyes were deep, feeling her hands kneading his leg tenderly, sending a tickling sensation through him.

He swallowed hard, trying to dismiss the stirrings within him, and changed the subject.

"Thirsty? Need some water?"

"I'll finish soon, then drink."

"Noe, get warm water ready," Aaron called out.

Noe hurried to comply with the command.

He experienced the recent event in his head as if a loving wife were taking care of her ailing husband.

Nora massaged Aaron until the time was up, then sighed with relief as the session ended.

"That's enough for now."

She was utterly drained and needed to rest in bed immediately.

Standing to wipe off her sweat, Nora felt a wave of dizziness, and her body swayed.

"Careful."

Aaron's eyes contracted, and he instinctively pulled her into his embrace.

Nora's nose throbbed with pain as it pressed against his solid chest muscles, clearing away any hint of dizziness.

She glared at Aaron and asked, "Why did you yank me?"

At that moment, Aaron held her tightly in his arms, her scent hastening his heartbeat.

He looked down into her beautiful eyes.

"I was just afraid you would fall," he said.

Nora rubbed her sore nose with a look of reproach.

"I'm not that clumsy; that really hurt."

Unconsciously, her voice took on a slightly petulant tone.
Aaron's voice softened, tender as a whisper of water. "Can I massage you?"
His eyes held a depth that reflected her image at her.

Nora's heartbeat quickened.

At that moment, Noe entered with a glass of warm water.

"Mr. Gordon, Nora, your water's ready."

Both of them turned to look at him in unison.

Noe stopped, meeting their gazes—one displeased, the other innocent.

Great timing, he thought to himself! He wished he could jump into a time machine and reverse his entrance.

"This water's still a bit too hot; I'll cool it down."

With a quick pivot, Noe left swiftly.

Only then did Nora realize she was still in Aaron's embrace.

She got up hurriedly. "That concludes our session for today. You should rest up; I'm heading upstairs."

Noe waited outside and quickly handed her the glass when she emerged.

"Nora, here's your water."

"Thanks."

Taking the glass, Nora felt a bit awkward as she made her way upstairs.

Noe, touching his nose, walked into the room only to find his boss staring at him with an icy glare.

"Noe, you may need to revisit not only your psychology but also your manners, so you're not always in a hurry."

Lately, Noe felt he had been on a streak of bad luck.

He was usually cautious and in tune with his boss's preferences, so he wondered why things were different now.

Had the boss, previously preoccupied with work, now had his attention split?

As Noe pondered, he offered a sheepish smile. "Alright, Mr. Gordon. Anything else? If not, I'll head out."

Aaron said, "Stay."

Startled, Noe asked, "Stay the night?"

Aaron fixed him with a look. "Is that a problem?"

"Not at all." Noe quickly shook his head, confused about why his boss wanted him to stay.

"Nora's got a stomachache. I'm worried about her."

Aaron's explanation was short and cool.

So the boss planned to check on Nora later, worried her stomachache might persist.

Could this concern mean the boss had feelings for her?

Upstairs, Nora was freshening up in the bathroom.

Looking at her radiant reflection with eyes like silk, she felt out of place.

Was this the same cautious woman around Aaron?

No! She reminded herself that Aaron was just a patient.

Nora mentally steeled herself. After finishing up, she glanced at the three sleeping children in the nursery, tucked them in, and went to bed herself.

The clock had already struck midnight.
On the first floor, Noe sat on the couch, watching his CEO, still engrossed in work, as a wave of sleepiness washed over him.

Finally, Aaron finished up his business and set his laptop aside.

"Noe, help me up."

Startled, Noe quickly stood up.

He assisted Aaron into his wheelchair and pushed him to the staircase.

Faced with the stairs, Noe crouched down. "Mr. Gordon, let me carry you up."

"No need, I can walk now; it's good practice," Aaron said, gesturing for Noe to help him upstairs.

Noe wanted to argue, but knowing his boss's stubborn streak, he complied.

Step by step, Aaron ascended, leaning on Noe for support and gripping the railing, his face a mask of stern determination and resolve.

Noe, supporting him, heard the labored breathing and saw beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

"Mr. Gordon, Nora mentioned you shouldn't be walking too much now. Maybe I should carry you after all."

"It's not necessary."

Despite the struggle, Aaron persisted and finally reached the second floor.

His shirt was soaked with sweat as he looked at the two rooms on the second floor and let out a weary sigh.
