Chapter 993 You Were My Girlfriend
Johnnie grabbed Gabriella's glass and downed it in one go. Then he refilled it and turned to the crowd. "Another toast to everyone. Thanks for appreciating Gabriella, and here's to a great partnership." He downed the drink again.
Gabriella smirked. "Johnnie, know your status. Do you think you can call me by my name?"
Johnnie paused mid-pour and glanced at her. "Got it, Ms. Costa."
Gabriella's fingers lightly touched his chest and trailed downward, flirting. "Johnnie, you're my servant. So, what am I to you?"
With two drinks in, Johnnie's eyes had a slight flush. He watched her teasing fingers, then smiled and grabbed her hand. "You're my girlfriend."
Gabriella met his gaze, snorted, and pulled her hand away. "Girlfriend? You, an assistant, think you're worthy?"
Johnnie stayed calm. "If I'm not worthy, why did you visit my sick mom with me? Why did you get jealous and break up with me over a female friend?"
Gabriella was momentarily speechless, glaring at him, feeling embarrassed and angry. "Who told you to come here? Get out!"
Johnnie didn't respond. Noticing a few people watching, he poured another glass. "I'll finish this, you all do as you please."
Everyone saw through it. This wasn't a servant; it was a couple having a spat.
Bobby Reyes, sitting nearby, squinted at Johnnie and finally recognized him. "Johnnie, you look familiar. Where have I seen you before?"
"I'm Mr. Gordon's assistant from the Gordon Group," Johnnie replied.
"Right, you were at a business event with Aaron," Bobby said quickly.
Johnnie smiled and shook Bobby's hand.
Bobby glanced at Gabriella. "So, you're pursuing Gabriella?"
"Yes," Johnnie admitted, adding, "But she pursued me first."
Gabriella's smile faded. "I told you to get out. Why aren't you leaving?"
Johnnie ignored her and asked Bobby, "Mr. Reyes, mind if I join you for a meal?"
Bobby laughed. "I don't mind."
He thought, 'Couples argue, but they'll make up. Connections in business are key. Building a good relationship with Johnnie wouldn't hurt.'
"Mr. Reyes, we're discussing business. Aren't you worried he'll steal our secrets?" Gabriella said.
"Mr. Perez, would you?" Bobby asked knowingly.
"Rest assured, Mr. Reyes, I wouldn't stoop to that."
A waiter added a seat next to Bobby.
Johnnie sat down and glanced at Gabriella, subtly implying something.
Gabriella glared at him. 'What is Johnnie here for? To make amends or to infuriate me?'
Gabriella wanted a drink, but Johnnie still had her glass.
Just as she was about to ask the waiter for a new one, Johnnie handed it back. "Forgot this was yours. Here you go."
Gabriella gave him a look. "You drank from it and now you're giving it back? Gross."
Johnnie shrugged. "We've kissed before, and you never complained."
Bobby chuckled. "Mr. Perez, don't upset your girlfriend too much, or you'll never win her back."
Johnnie smiled and called the waiter for a new glass. "Thanks for the tip. I'm new to this dating thing, so any advice is welcome."
He poured drinks for both of them and clinked glasses with Bobby.
"Oh, Ms. Costa is your first love?" Bobby teased, trying to get on Johnnie's good side.
"Yes, I'm not great with words and often mess up," Johnnie said seriously, taking a sip.
"Really? Ms. Costa, sometimes sweet talkers aren't the best men," Bobby added, playing along.
Gabriella snorted. 'Johnnie bad with words? If he's bad, then no one is smart!'
The atmosphere stayed lively despite Johnnie's presence. Everyone continued discussing their deal.
After a week of negotiations, with Gabriella's help, the talks were almost finalized.
After the meal, both parties signed a letter of intent.
"Here's to a successful partnership," Gabriella said, shaking hands with everyone, satisfied.
"Thank you, Ms. Costa, for your mediation. Looking forward to working together," everyone said.
Gabriella smiled but rolled her eyes when she saw Johnnie looking at her.
"To celebrate our deal, how about we go somewhere else?" someone suggested.
"Absolutely," everyone agreed.
Gabriella took them to a famous local nightclub.
No matter where people were from, they all enjoyed a good time.
This nightclub combined luxury with high-energy dance vibes. It was high-end and classy, yet extravagant.
It operated on a membership basis, but non-members could enter with a hefty tip.
Gabriella, a member, swiped her card and led everyone in.
"Ms. Costa seems to come here often," someone remarked.
Gabriella wanted to say she got the membership for work, but seeing Johnnie's tipsy face, she changed her tune. "Yes, they have the top male escort performances in Hchilia. I come often."
Everyone laughed. "Haha, men are lustful, but women are too."
"Oh, come on, it's the modern era! Gender equality!"
Gabriella added, "I'm not just any woman who stays home cooking for a man."
She glanced at Johnnie, implying something.
Johnnie didn't say anything, but his gaze deepened as he looked at her.
