Chapter 320 Don't Do Anything Outrageous Behind My Back
Archer Remington caught his wrist in an instant. "Gary, what are you going to do?" he asked.
Gary wrestled his hand free with a stern face and scolded Luna Moore, "Luna Moore, I like Nora because I have a so-called mother complex! I need you, a bulldog, to stay the heck away from me! Even if I end up a bachelor for life, I won't end up with you!"
With those words, he turned and walked away.
"Gary!" Luna Moore was livid, tears welling up in her eyes as she stamped her foot and ran away crying.
"These two," Archer Remington shook his head, his face conveying helplessness.
Beside him, Suzy's eyes flickered with a hint of jealousy.
Gary liked Nora? Isn’t she quite the enchantress? She had only been in Lindwood City for a few days, and yet she had already caught Gary's fancy.
"Miss Hamilton, I wanted to talk to you about something," Archer Remington said as he turned to look at Suzy.
Suzy snapped back to reality, maintaining a gracefully pleasant smile. "What's up?" she asked.
"Our families are considering a marriage alliance, but let's be honest with each other, I don't like you and you don't like me, right?" Archer Remington didn't beat around the bush and got straight to the point.
Suzy chuckled, feeling slightly displeased. She might not like him, but how could he not like her? After all, she was a leading actress, a national sweetheart, and the dream woman of countless men.
Only she had the luxury of not liking someone else; everyone else should be idolizing her!
"I could have refused this alliance, but the elders have spoken, either I or my younger sister must marry into the Hamilton family. My sister doesn't want to get married, so as the big brother, I've got to step up, hence why I agreed to this alliance with the Hamilton family," Archer Remington explained with a cool, calm countenance, speaking very formally.
Suzy kept quiet, listening to what he would say next.
"I'm a traditional man. I don't take kindly to my wife being in the limelight in the entertainment industry or getting involved in scandals with other men after marriage. Therefore, I expect Miss Hamilton to retire from acting once she joins the Remington family, and to focus on taking care of the family. If you're fine with that, I'll inform the elders and we can set a date to get engaged," Archer Remington stated his terms clearly.
Suzy looked at his serious face, thinking to herself that this man was the embodiment of male chauvinism.
Such a man was not easy to control!
"And what if I object?" Suzy asked.
Archer Remington's lips curled into a prideful smirk, "I don't think you will object, considering no family has a stronger background than mine. Think it over."
With that, he turned and walked away.
Under the cold moonlight, the tall figure of the man walked away at a leisurely pace, his right foot slightly limping.
Suzy stared at his foot and cursed, "You lame jerk, who says I have to marry you? Get over yourself!"
A gust of cold wind swept through, sending chills down her spine. She subconsciously wrapped her arms around herself, cursing under her breath. "I'm freezing to death, that damn cripple, no idea how to treat a lady!"
From behind a cluster of houseplants, Zephyr watched Suzy clutch her chest as she entered the banquet hall and turned to face Sandy.
"Is that woman your sister-in-law? She seems quite two-faced. Has she been giving you a hard time in the Hamilton family?" Zephyr asked.
They were so close in proximity, that Sandy could feel his warm breath in her ear. She quickly got to her feet, trying to calm her racing heart.
"I have my husband backing me up; she can’t do much. Mr. Tom, let me say it again, I am not Cora Hernandez, please stop bothering me," Sandy declared.
Zephyr slowly stood up, watching her fleeing figure with a wry smile.
She clearly was Cora Hernandez, why wouldn't she admit it? How long did she plan to deceive herself?
Cora's grandfather had said Cora died in a car accident.
But there she was, standing right in front of him.
Then, who was the woman who had died?
Sandy was the precious daughter of the Hernandez family in Lindwood City, could it be that the deceased woman was the real heiress of the Hernandez family?
Didn’t the Hernandez family know the truth?
What was truly going on here?
Inside the banquet hall, Sandy walked in, feeling panicked.
A wave of warmth enveloped her, and only then did she realize she was still wearing Zephyr’s suit jacket.
She quickly took it off, intending to return it to Zephyr.
"Sandy, where have you been?" Kenneth approached, carrying a glass of wine.
Sandy’s heart skipped a beat, but she feigned calm. "It was a bit stuffy inside, I went for a walk outside."
Kenneth made his way over to him, eyes landing on the suit jacket in her hands, and his brows furrowed as he reached out and took it.
"Whose jacket is this?"
Panic flickered in Sandy’s eyes as she clenched her fists, her complexion turning pale.
" This, this is…"
"Mr. Hamilton, that jacket is mine." Zephyr joined them, nodding slightly to Kenneth.
"It’s yours?" Kenneth's face turned cold.
Zephyr's lips curled into a slight smile as he reached out his hand to Kenneth. "It's me. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Zephyr, just returned to take over as the Wright family's head."
The Wright family's status in Lindwood City, though not on par with the Ebenezer and Remington families, was still considered a prominent upper-class family.
He had heard that the patriarch of the Wright family, in his younger days, had been quite a playboy, fathering numerous illegitimate sons and daughters.
It appeared that this Zephyr was one of the Wright family's illegitimate children.
And it seemed he knew Kenneth's wife, too!
Thinking back to when Zephyr had been hovering around Sandy, Kenneth gave him a cold stare, disregarding the niceties as he handed the suit jacket back to him.
Kenneth taunted, "Thanks for the jacket, Mr. Wright. You really know how to seize the opportunity."
Zephyr wasn't offended by the sarcasm. Taking the suit jacket, he glanced at Sandy.
"I just stepped out to get some air and ran into your wife. She was lightly dressed, and as a gentleman, I felt it was only right to offer her my jacket,” he rebutted.
Kenneth's gaze grew icy as he pulled Sandy into his embrace.
"Mr. Wright, regardless of who you are, remember what I've said. Stay away from my wife, or else, don't blame me for being inhospitable!"
Zephyr watched their retreating figures, his eyes cast down somberly.
Why did she have to pretend to be someone else?
Why did she leave him?
Ahead, Kenneth paused and turned to look at Sandy.
There was a hint of red in the corners of her eyes, as though she had been crying.
The color of her lipstick had also faded.
A chilly aura enveloped Kenneth. "What were you doing with him outside just now?" he pressed. His eyes were piercing, exuding an oppressive aura.
Sandy's heart tightened as she fidgeted with her fingers. "We just happened to run into each other, and he gave me his jacket to wear, that's all,” she stammered.
Kenneth stared at her for a long moment before speaking in a cold voice, "Sandy, remember who you are. Don't do anything behind my back that you shouldn't. Otherwise, you won't be able to withstand my anger!"
His voice was as cold and cutting as ice, sending a shiver down one's spine.
Sandy nodded with a pale face, "I understand."
"Your makeup has faded; go touch it up," Kenneth said coldly before striding away.
Sandy watched his aloof retreating figure, felt a sense of relief, and hurried toward the restroom.
In front of the restroom mirror, Suzy handed a tissue to Luna Moore.
"Stop crying, dry those tears," she said.
