Chapter 1048 The Arrival of the Lucky Charm

Hearing Mateo's harsh tone, Yandel's eyes flickered. "Mateo, I just said, Tomas is in this mess because of you! If you leave the royal family, he'll get better."

Mateo sneered, "Stop talking nonsense, Yandel. Do you really think you can swap my father's tonic with poison without anyone noticing? Keep being stubborn and see what happens."

Before Rafael could speak, the hot-headed Miguel cut in, "Mateo, shut up! Yandel is the physician Father appointed. If he says you influenced Father, then you did. Keep talking, and I'll handle you myself!"

Mateo smirked. "What, you can't kill Father, so now you want to kill me? Go ahead and try!"

"Mateo, you're asking for it!" Miguel grabbed a knife from one of his men and lunged at Mateo.

Mateo, ready for this, dodged and counterattacked. He kicked Miguel's knee, making him kneel with a cry.

Mateo then snatched the knife and held it to Miguel's throat. Miguel froze, his face pale with fear.

"Think I'm easy to bully?" Mateo looked down at Miguel, exuding a king-like presence.

Rafael's expression changed as he watched Mateo, sensing something was off. They had planned everything, but Mateo seemed prepared.

Rafael thought, 'Did Mateo know we wanted to poison Tomas and played along with Nora and the others? Has he been calm, waiting for this moment?'

A chill ran down Rafael's spine. He stared at Mateo, filled with jealousy and hatred. 'Why do both of us have to exist? Mateo is an illegitimate child, but why does he get help from Nora and the others?'

Suddenly, a newborn's cry was heard outside, bringing joy.

Mateo's heart leaped with delight. "Nora has given birth!"

Soon, a subordinate rushed in. "It's a girl."

'Nora has given birth to a little princess, wonderful!' Mateo was so excited he teared up. "A little princess, just as beautiful as Nora."

Meanwhile, Tomas, lying on the bed, moved his fingers. His eyelids fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.

The officials by his side were overjoyed. "Mateo, look! Tomas is awake!"

Everyone looked over, thrilled. Someone exclaimed, "She is a lucky charm! The little princess brings luck to Hchilia!"

"Welcome the lucky charm!"

The officials all looked outside, their voices loud and powerful.

In the delivery room, Nora, drenched in sweat, looked at the soft, pink baby, unaware that her daughter was already being thought of by others. In the years to come, many would vie for her daughter.

In Tomas's chamber, seeing Tomas awake, Mateo was both surprised and delighted. He quickly helped him up. "Father, how do you feel?"

Tomas, pale and weak, had narrowly escaped death. He glanced at the silver needles on his body and nodded slightly. "Still alive."

"I knew Nora wouldn't let anything happen to you," Mateo said, eyes red with emotion.

Tomas patted Mateo's hand, silently comforting him. He had the doctor remove the silver needles, then looked at Rafael and the others with a sharp gaze. "Guards, arrest these usurpers!" Though Tomas's voice was weak, it was still full of authority.

Rafael's expression changed. He hurriedly knelt. "Father, are you talking about us? We would never do such a thing. Why would you say that?"

Tomas stared at Rafael, a hint of pain in his eyes. "Stop pretending, Rafael. While I was bedridden, I heard all your conversations. I never thought you would conspire with Yandel to poison me daily for your own gain. How could I have raised such a ruthless son!"

'What? Father could hear our conversations? Isn't he on the brink of death?' Rafael looked up in disbelief. "You could hear us?"

He still hoped to argue his way out, at least to save his life. He questioned, "Didn't Yandel say the poison would cloud his mind? So why could Father still hear us?"

"Why are you shocked? Want to know why I could hear?" Tomas said coldly.

"Why?"

"Want to know? Then guess in prison!" Tomas coldly smiled. "Mateo, help me up. I want to see Nora and our country's lucky charm."

Tomas believed that it was Nora's daughter who woke him up, so this child was truly his lucky charm. He decided he would personally raise her.

"Yes." Mateo felt a sense of triumph. Finally, it was all over.

With a glance from Mateo, his subordinates took Rafael and the others away.

The officials followed Tomas to the delivery room to see Nora. Behind them, Scarlett, Rafael, and Miguel's pleas for mercy echoed.

Tomas ignored them and asked Mateo, "Was it the sachet Nora gave me that saved my life?"

As a king, Tomas was no fool. From the moment he fell into a coma but was forced to hear their conversations, Tomas had guessed the whole story.

It was a battle between two factions, and he was caught in the middle.

"Yes, Father." Mateo supported Tomas, not denying it.

Tomas looked at him. "So you and Nora knew all along that Rafael and the others wanted to harm me?"

Mateo nodded. "Yes."

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Tomas was a bit displeased.

Mateo replied, "If we told you earlier, you might not have believed us, and we might not have been able to completely defeat Rafael and the others."

Tomas sneered, "So you just let me be poisoned, not worried I might actually die?"
